About this villa rental
Trullo Lina is in an idyllic rural setting only 3k m from the centre of Alberobello, and within a 20-minute drive to Martina Franca and Locorotondo. Standing at the end of a private track, 300 metres from the public tarmacked lane, it is a haven of tranquility. Silence is only broken by bird song from the neighbouring wood and occasional tractors ploughing the land. It is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday, away from the stresses of modern life.
Stylishly and sympathetically restored, the trullo lies within 2 hectares of olive groves, and has extensive stone terraces (600 sqm) all around with a stunning circular pool to the rear (10 metres in diametre). There are pretty shrub gardens to the front and back of the house.
Dating from the late 18th century, Trullo Lina was purchased in Spring 2013 having been abandoned for many years. Restoration was carried out by local stone masons and craftsmen using century-old skills The 'modern' extension, added during the 1950s, was demolished and rebuilt. Every effort has been made to adhere to traditional design, materials and colours without compromising on modern comforts.
Trulli have thick stone walls and conical stone roofs to keep the interior cool in summer and warm in winter. In keeping with this design, the newly-built part has thick tufo stone walls lined with white stucco on the inside, and stone vaulted ceilings All the windows and doors have been crafted by a local carpenter. They are double glazed with internal panelled shutters to keep the house cosy in winter. Traditional iron grills have been fitted to the external doors and windows. Much thought has been put into equipping the trullo as a home not just a holiday rental. All the fixtures and fittings are of a high standard, and furniture has been chosen in keeping with the style of a typical trullo, whilst also providing sufficient drawers and hanging space for guests.
Trullo Lina sleeps 8 people comfortably (or up to 10 if including small children, making use of the sofa-bed and/or cot for an infant). There are 4 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a sitting room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining room. There is central heating for the winter months.
BEDROOMS
Two of the bedrooms have double beds with bedside cabinets, drawers and hanging space. The other two bedrooms each have 2 x single beds and are furnished with bedside cabinets, drawers and hanging space.
The BATHROOMS are lined with local marble, and each has a walk-in shower, large sink with mirrored cabinet, toilet and bidet.
The KITCHEN is located in one of the original 19th century cones but has all the luxuries of a 21st century kitchen; stone work surfaces, hand-built cupboards, fan-assisted electric oven, large 6-ring gas hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. There are ample pans and utensils, crockery, cutlery, wine glasses and tumblers to cater for 10 guests.
The DINING ROOM is spacious, light and airy with stone vaulted ceilings and French windows to the front and rear terraces. It therefore has views over the extensive undulating land to the front and the swimming pool at the back. There is a large dining table and chairs, seating 8 adults comfortably, and 10 at a squeeze.
The main entrance leads into the THE SITTING ROOM which is situated in the largest, highest cone, and has beautifully restored stone walls, wood beams and lots of nooks and crannies typical of trulli. From the door and window there are far-reaching views across the front terrace to the olive grove beyond. In the summer it stays cool, and is a welcome retreat from the hot Puglian sun. In the winter it is cosy and warm, with a log fire. There is WI-FI, a TV, a bluitooth speaker and a selection of books and DVDs for guests to enjoy.
To the exterior of the trullo are over 600 square metres of TERRACES laid with local stone and leading to the large circular SWIMMING POOL (with external shower). There is ample space around the pool for sunbathing on the sunbeds and deckchairs and there are 2 shaded areas. There is a gazbo attached to the trullo with a large dining table and chairs.
This spacious stunning terrace at the front of the house, looks out across the land and olive grove, and has a hand-crafted wrought iron gazebo to provide shade at lunchtime. After a day round the pool, this terrace is perfect for aperitifs and sunset dinners. There is a large square table seating 10-12 people.
Attached to the front of the trullo is a gazebo with an L shaped seating area - a shaded area to sit and relax with a book or aperitif.
There is a wide selection of restaurants in Alberobello and the neighbouring towns serving the renowned Puglian specialities. Whilst there is little reason to move from the pool, apart from to buy supplies, the blue flag beaches and crystal clear water of Monopoli and Savelletri on the Adriatic Sea are within a 30 minute drive whilst the long sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea are within an hour's drive away.

Guests praised Trullo Lina for its wonderful stay, calm environment, well-organized amenities, fabulous pool, and convenient location. They appreciated the excellent host, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful property.

The accommodation was beautiful, and the plot of land was huge. The views were fantastic. When we arrived, the trullo was stocked with lots of little goodies, and we felt immediately at home. There was plenty of room for our two groups, consisting of 4 adults, 3 teenagers and one child. The lanes leading to the trullo were fairly narrow but fine, and the peaceful setting was well worth being slightly out of town. It took us about 10/15 minutes to drive to Alberobello, which was a beautiful town with lots of restaurants, little shops etc. The supermarket was convenient, and a short drive away which was great. We enjoyed both the beach and water park at Monopoli, and went into Polignano a Mare a couple of times which was about 40 minutes away. We did find the bedrooms quite hot at night, (we were lucky enough to have constant sunshine for our trip), though fans and small AC units were provided. However, the pool was great for cooling down and was perfect for us as it was so big and it felt luxurious to lounge poolside. All the doors and windows had mosquito nets. We all really enjoyed our holiday and this Trullo was great as we could have pool days and go out and explore. Thank you to our hosts, the whole process was easy and honest, and the recommendations made were useful and well received!

Our stay at Trullo Lina was wonderful.
We loved the many possibilities to sit outside as well as the calm in the evening and of course the pool.
Everything was well organized!
Thank you

We stayed in the trullo with our three adult children and their partners and had a wonderful relaxing time, making the most of the fabulous pool.
The villa is right out in the countryside but only a 10 minute drive into Alberobello, which has several decent supermarkets and a wonderful fish shop (which is open every day).
The villa is very well equipped and comfortable - but it would have been nice to have air-conditioning in the bedrooms as it was rather hot when we were there in July/August.
Louise was an excellent host, providing help and information by WhatsApp both before and during our stay.
We loved the house and we loved Puglia.

Perfekt

Excellent family home for total peace and relaxation
It was exactly as it stated on the listing. It was a beautiful home, spotlessly clean, everything catered for, which meant we spent more time staying in than going out!
If you prefer to walk to a restaurant on an evening then this is not the place for you, as it’s out of the way but just 10 mins to Alberobello by car.

Trullo lina
Lovely remote ,beautifully restored trullo - very peaceful and charming . Well equipped and tastefully renovated and good communication with owner . My only gripe was that I perfectly understood the need to drink bottled water but we as six adults got through shed loads of bottled water and tons of plastic . We are frequent travellers to turkey where villas supply large water dispensers that they replenish and are chilled and hopefully reduce the amount of plastic waste - the recycling bins size just cannot cope with the amount of water we got through at trullo Lina . On a small point bins in the bedrooms would welcome and at least one full length mirror would please the gals ,!!! Sorry to sound critical -we had a lovely time and the trullo is beautiful and thoughtfully furnished -we would very happily come back again jan brosch

Heaven
After spending a week with my family at this beautiful and well appointed home I can honestly say it’s one of the loveliest villas I’ve stayed in. The architect designed interior has a stylish simplicity which artfully connects the old and the new parts of the building. Exposed honey coloured stone and ancient beams make the kitchen and sitting room welcoming and warm and the limestone bathrooms feel spacious and luxurious. The owners have also provided a thoughtful selection of current DVDs, travel guides , books , pool and beach toys. The outside areas are all stunning. The villa is set in a wonderfully private location surrounded by fields of olive groves and fruit trees and the immediate gardens and entertaining spaces have been expensively and tastefully landscaped. The pool is a very generous size and has the luxurious feel of a peaceful bouitique hotel. However, despite the villa’s seclusion it is conveniently close to the restaurants, bars and supermarkets of Alberobello and not far from the lovely coast line around Monopoli. I will definitely be returning.

Authentic trulli surrounded by olive and fig trees
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Trulli Lina. We travelled as a family of 6 with four young adults aged from 18-22 in late August, early September. The property itself is set in a very pretty olive grove, very quiet with several terraces for all of us to find a favourite spot and view. The villa is an authentic trulli with modern features throughout. The villa is relaxed and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen, also an outdoor BBQ, so we mostly enjoyed spending the evenings in. The owner provides plenty of information about the surrounding areas, beaches, places to visit and eat out. We did a mix of exploring local villages, days out at the beach and lounging by the pool. This was our first visit to Puglia and we all fell in love with rural Italy at its best. Even the 'children' settled down by the pool with books and games, rather than their usual technical gadgets. Overall we had a proper summer respite, and we would definitely come back.

Perfect villa holiday - even better than expected
We had such a wonderful stay at Trullo Lina and would highly recommend it! Louise was very communicative and helpful and her colleague met us to drive us to the villa.
We were 4 couples who all had private bedrooms and then a couple stayed on the sofa bed for a few nights, as we were there for a wedding. The Trullo was beautiful with all the modern comforts.
The villa was bigger than expect and the pool area was very peaceful and relaxing. The outdoor BBQ and dining area was great to sit a big group. There was space for lots of hire cars. It was a short drive to Arbellobello (10-15mins) and Martina Franca (20 mins), which Louise gave us some great recommendations for food shopping and restaurants. I'd also recommend Il Pastini (the vineyard for wine tasting) and the olive oil place (near Martina Franca). The surrounding areas was very rustic with rolling hills and good for running. We all had one of the best holidays ever! Puglia is a stunning area and this a great base to explore some local towns and even the coast.

Beautiful and stylish Trullo in peaceful surroundings
We are a group of four friends who appreciate having our own rooms and enjoy peace and quiet. We had a very enjoyable week at Trullo Lina. The interior has been tastefully renovated to a high standard and outside there is a very pleasant pool area and plenty of land to wander about in and pick delicious cherries. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked up with essentials. Louise and Anna Maria were easy to contact and friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Definitely recommended.

Extraordinaire

Delightful restored Trulli Near Alberobello
The property is an extended and beautifully and expertly restored Trulli about 5-10 minutes drive form the lovely town of Alberobello. The finish in the property is excellent, a well equipped kitchen and plenty of space for our family of 5. The outside space is fantastic with large areas of paved patio to several sides of the residence and plenty of places to sit in the sun or shade. The large covered terrace is particularly pleasant. The pool is a great size and has loads of space around it. The location in its own olive groves is very peaceful and relaxing. A car is vital. The property was very clean and well prepared on our arrival and the meet and greet without problems.Communication with the owner was easy and prompt. Very happy to recommend this property.

Lovely family holiday
We had a very good week in Trullo Lina, the property was well maintained and comfortable. The outdoor space was well laid out and the interior lovely and cool so no need for air conditioning. We were a party of 9 adults and were very comfortable, the owner was a bit worried about the water with so many of us (is delivered in a tank) but we did not have any problems. We had a pretty lazy time so didn't venture far but had good meals in Locorotunda, Monopoli and Alberobello and a great visit to the caves. The towns themselves are also very pretty in the centre. The driving was a bit hairy particularly in Monopoli so not for the nervous, you will definitely need a car though for this property. The nearest supermarket was a bit limited but had all the basics, there is a nice butcher in town and alimentari, I would recommend getting a map before going to Alberobello to look for the shops as we spent quite a long time wandering(very happily) through the streets without finding them. There is a great market on Thursday morning. We had a few minor issues but Louise was happy to answer queries and sort out. I would be happy to recommend this property to family and friends and may well visit again.

We as a family of 8 stayed at Trulli Lina for a week at the beginning of July. Louise the owner was great at communication from the start of my enquiry right up to the detailed directions on how to reach the trulli. Its quite simply stunning. The trulli is spotless and is extremely well equipped - one of the best kitchens Ive used in 15 years of property rentals throughout Italy. In fact its well equipped throughout. ( my only bug bear would be to have extra pillows). The pool is divine and the seating areas surrounding the trulli are just beautiful. It is remote however, so best to use coordinates on sat nav for accuracy. The neighbouring towns and villages are gorgeous, with some of the friendliest people Ive met in Italy. The food served in local restaurants is excellent. We would love to return.

Trullo Lina is magnificent! We have just returned from a week’s stay (end of June 2016) as a family of four (with a four-year-old and a nearly two-year-old) plus one set of grandparents who joined for a couple of days. The house, grounds and location were perfect for us to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. The trullo is very well configured and in excellent condition. The decoration, finishes and furniture are all to a high standard playing on the character of the building but also modern enough to make it feel fresh and appealing. All four bedrooms are of a good size and comfortable (two with double beds). The location is beautifully rural and tranquil whilst being close to the conveniences of Alberobello (a very pleasant country lane drive) and within easy driving distance of the coast and Puglia’s various attractions. It took us about an hour to travel from/to Brindisi airport. A car is essential! The pool is large and was a good temperature in the near 30oC outside heat. Our boys would happily spend all day in it! It was clean, tidy and safe (being fenced / gated). The surrounding gardens have matured since the website photos were taken and were very well maintained. The shaded terrace areas are a welcome retreat for lunch etc. The surrounding olive groves and fields are fun to walk around and we were able to pick cherries and pears. We were made to feel welcome (local cheese and wine already in the fridge!) and would have loved to have stayed much longer!

We had an extremely relaxing stay at Trullo Lina from the 3 July to 12 July 2014 and the trullo had only been completed shortly before our stay. It has been finished to a very high standard, and unlike other trulli we have stayed in, was light, spacious and modern. It was lovely having kitchen equipment, i.e. cooker/fridge/washing machine/dishwasher, that were new and worked. The pool is round and stunning, we had glorious weather there so having a pool to fall into was a necessity. Trullo Lina is situated down a quiet lane, there is a neighbour but we only saw people watering the plants at the property who were only too pleased to wave back at us when we drove by. The town of Alberbello takes only about 10 minutes by car to get to, there are plenty of really good restaurants to eat at and sitting down at one of the cafes after your meal is a must for people watching. We have never written a review before of a holiday home, we would certainly recommend it and would return there in the future.Sian, David and Felicity Duke

We spent two magnificent weeks at Trullo Lina. We were a family of 10 spanning three generations with two children of 4 and 1, and having converted the living room (which had a sleeping couch) to a bedroom, we had in fact 5 great double bedrooms and fit in snugly. The beautiful trullo has been renovated and extended with great taste and use of first-class building materials. Everything is new and therefore flawless. Spotlessly cleaned, two comfortable bathrooms. A well-equipped kitchen as the essential center of the house allowed us to cook, rustic Puglian meals for long terrace dinners. The setting of the trullo is unparalleled at the end of a country lane in a large olive grove belonging to the property. Very quiet and beautiful views. The pool is enormous and, very important because of our young grandchildren, separated from the house and the terraces by a small iron gate. There are terraces on all sides of the trullo, so if one wishes to get out of the the warm Puglian breeze that is always possible.A nice touch was all the pre-burned firewood which we used for the brick barbecue on the terrace. So much better than buying industrial charcoal.Although our expectations were high after reading the description, Trullo Lina was in fact even better than we had expected. Both pre-departure and on-site service and assistance was impeccable, and we would happily recommend this trullo. Recommend it very warmly, in fact.Nearby highlights not to be missed, in order of importance, are; Matera (full day), Lecce (full day), Ostuni, Taranto (the restaurant Il Porto in the old town is highly recommended) and Polignano. And of course Alberobello itself, particularly mornings or very late afternoon and evenings.Under no circumstances should any visitor come to Alberobello without having dinner at the family-run La Cantina in the street leading up the cathedral. It is very small, so reservations are essential. The chef actually cooks inside the restaurant so there is the added value of being able to watch a true master of his craft. Rustic Puglian dishes of very high quality. Simply one of the best restaurants we have been to anywhere in Italy.Go Trullo Lina!

Exquisite, secluded trulli set in beautiful olive
We spent two magnificent weeks at Trullo Lina. We were a family of 10 spanning three generations with two children of 4 and 1, and having converted the living room (which had a sleeping couch) to a bedroom, we had in fact 5 great double bedrooms and fit in snugly.
