Good breakfast.
Parking issues and preference is not given to who is sleeping over, its loud since there are many parties going on, kitchen closed early so we had to order food from the Villa. The room photos need to be updated to reflect the reality of whats really going on.
8.0
The facilities and the access to the Kabira country club. The breakfast is a bonus.
The room states that it contains a dishwasher, cutlery and cooking appliances. These were not available. I was charged for the milk that I requested for the complimentary tea. There are no tea or coffee-making facilities in the Apple Lodge room. Half of the staff are not even aware of the family 3 bedroom "Apple". The room does not provide the amenities mentioned.
6.0
The location, the seclusion and privacy, variety of seating areas and the swimming pool. The style of the cottages is good but in need of update.
Music constantly playing, this was not a feature in 2016 and disturbs the ambience, it is unnecessary, particularly in the daytime. The loudness of the music the evening there was a wedding. The lack of professionalism and training of the staff, particularly when they stated they understood a request and clearly did not. Also when they wanted you to accept an order you were not happy with. The lack of consistency re cleaning and standards e.g. on two occasions there was no hand towel in the bathroom, on the last day there was only one towel (rather than two and no hand towel). The bedside lamp in the room was broken and rather than offer to fix or replace I was told to just switch it off at the plug socket, which defeats the purpose of having a bedside lamp as this involved getting out of bed.

Lication
Dangerous spiral staircase. Poor bed and beddings. Poor rustic work. Bad dollar exchange rate

NOTHING
Just less than 24 hours before check in, the property sent me msg that they are not able to accommodate me. the reason was because they got a group of tourists who will stay longer and eventually pay more.
Even though they offered alternative, but I am still very much disappointed, the notice time was not enough to find a convenient alternative. my Kampala trip mood was damaged.

I loved the cottage I stayed in, the most special type of accommodation I’ve stayed in.
Breakfast was great and I loved the surroundings. were beautiful. Appreciated the free access to the pool at Kabira country club as the pool at forest cottages is small and full of children most of the time which made it difficult to swim.
It can be a bit loud at night, both from traffic and music playing, it’s good to bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

very friendly and attentative staff, nice pool area, good and safe location. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the hotel offered very good service.
Sometimes it was a bit noisy in the evening, but this wasn't the hotels fault, as the noises were coming from outside (out of their control)

The Staff were exceptionally friendly....
Nothing

Staying at First Cottages it is quite easy to forget that the bustling city of Kampala is just outside. The staff were friendly and competent, the facilities as expected and the immense garden area, a pleasure to relax in.
I was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered the Steak Diane and there was more sauce than steak, it was literally swimming in it. The other food looked alright but the Steak Diane .......... sauce the side please.

Food was poor.

We loved all the staff and trainees. They were wonderful and made our stay special
The grounds were beautiful! We loved it all.
Our room needed more attention. There was no shower curtain, towels and the floors dirty. They cleaned and made it better. The noise of the city was loud so next time we'll try and get a better room. All in all we loved Forest Cottages and will tell people about it!

The private bungalows were great fun and spacious, loved the private balcony looking into the trees. The staff were very quick and helpful setting up an extra bed for our son.
It would be nice to upgrade the bathroom, but it worked and we had hot showers and it was just fine.

Nice and comfortable place. Nice staff. A green forestish place within the big city.
There wasnt anything I didnt like.
The standard was ok for the price, but I wouldnt pay more for that standard.

The rooms were very unique in their style, I particularly loved the architecture. I loved the trees and landscaping, it made it very cool in the warm weather of Kampala. I liked that the rooms have the ability to cook your own meals if you wish. They also offer room service and the food is quite good. They provide a mosquito net and a pedestal fan which we didn’t need to use because the window had mesh on it to prevent them entering the room. The wait staff were very kind and mild-mannered and helpful throughout our stay.
The room we stayed in is very old and needs replenishing and/or updating. The towels provided were very old and musty and need replacing. The spiral staircase is also a bit unnerving, however, there is a door that you can enter straight into the bedroom if you don’t feel confident using it. The bed was okay, but it dipped in the middle making it uncomfortable to sleep on. The couches in the living area were also very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. We also experienced an issue with management when a mistake was made when ordering room service. There was a miscommunication but the management handled it poorly and when they offered us compensation, it wasn’t followed through. It’s disappointing that an establishment can’t recognise their mistakes and own up to them instead leaving their customers with a bad taste in their mouths, especially after spending a fair amount of money on our stay. Not only did we pay for our stay, but we also ordered 3 meals on top of that and they couldn’t refund us for one plate of food that we didn’t order.

The only nice place was the reception area and the staff at Avocado restaurant.
The room was absolutely disappointing and not as per what was advertised. Basic barely finished building. We arrived on Saturday evening and the noise of an ongoing wedding I the premises was absolutely deafening. We could feel the thumping of the music on our beds as if the party was on our room. Not recommending to stay there during weekend if you are looking for peace and quiet. Check out is very early (by 10am) unlike the hotels all over the world. Receptionist did nothing to fix our situation. We arrived after a long flight to have peaceful forest rest. Bedsheets were stained. Bathroom very basic for the price we paid.

Great location close to the main road that leads to the city center but still quiet
it’s totally not worth the price, our room was so tiny that not even one suitcase could be properly opened, no hangar, no wardrobe, mattresses were worn out, in the bathroom you need to go up steep stairs to enter the shower and you can hardly turn around, the service was poorly, we always had to call for the waiter cause he was not attending to us, worst was when we entered the breakfast room in the morning, the waste from the party from the previous evening was still all over the floor, the buffet had not been set up fully 20 minutes after breakfast was supposed to start, for the price we payed we got so much more at other places

The whole concept of the cottage is beautiful.
The room wasn't fresh and it hasn't been cleaned in a while. No glasses, cabinets have dust

I booked airport transfer in the morning, arrived at the agreed pick up time in the evening to discover that they had simply forgot about it. Had to wait for 45 minutes before someone arrived to pick me up, the staff did not even had the decency to offer something to drink while I waited.

Very nice ambience and landscape architecture of the public areas.
