Staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive. The hotel was very clean and the Sunday breakfast buffet was fantastic.
3.0
The location is good near the lakefront, and breakfast is included which was good. The room was clean.
The noise at this place is unbelievable. It’s near a busy street and because of the U-shaped and several stories it’s like an echo chamber. You can hear whole conversations so at night along with cats and dogs, barking, and howling. I didn’t get one night of good sleep.

Spacious rooms, lovely toiletries, fabulous complementary breakfast, beautiful planting made the hotel very relaxing, central location

At the entrance of the hotel very loud music was played all day from early 7:00 in the morning. Conversations of people in the courtyard could be heard until 4:00 in the morning.
Therefore, we did not sleep well. But we also spent only one night there.

The room was decent, clean, and much like expected.
They started playing music at 7:30AM - Yes 7:30AM. This was very disruptive. The "steak house" was not busy and still took 90 minutes to get and eat food. Should have eaten elsewhere for average food.

This hotel feels like you're staying with a really wealthy relative, homely but luxe. Rooms were on the generous side with nice furnishings and a big bathroom (no bath). My room was at the back and had a small patio which was a nice place to sunbathe if you wanted privacy from the pool area.
Shoutout to Maria at reception who was so pleasant, informative and friendly - not only did she advise where to get an same-day Antigen test (needed for travel/transit through the US) but she called the clinic to try and book me a slot. She also printed off two pages of my results in case I needed a hard copy. She is a credit to the hotel.
Nitpicking here, but the cleaning was overzealous if anything - I could practically taste the chemicals in my room after housekeeping had been. It was nothing that opening my patio door didn't sort out. Still, can a room be too clean? Don't think so.

We go to Panajachel 3-4 times a year. This was our first stay here and we were favorably impressed with the size of our room, the quality of the restaurant, and the great bath shower--water got plenty hot and did so quickly. The helpful young man at the front desk spoke pretty good English and that helped a lot. We also liked the rooftop sitting areas in the front and back decorated with lovely potted plants and flowers.
On the minor downsides, when the air outside is not moving much cross-ventilation in the room might not be the best. An electric fan would help much. Also, the busy street out front can get a little noisy at times. We always travel with a white-noise sleep machine to take care of issues like that.
