the view was amazing
It was disgusting, absolutely filthy. we booked a family room and got the room on the 2nd floor - directly on top of the bar (bar not mentioned in booking.com description). the music was so loud until 11pm. you could hear all the bars competing music.

Beach Location. View.
I booked 2 weeks. Noise is hellish. Hotel is directly next to demolition site, The hotel next door is being demolished: 6 am to 6 p.m. Hellish. It gets worse, the ground floor of the hotel is a 'club'. Equally hellish noise. 8pm to 2am.
Now in my second week. Fully expected at least apology for noise. Foolish of me to have expected that there might have been a reduction, ~ given the fact that this is like sitting in a living hell on earth. Ok to stay here if you're deaf. If you're not, - you might be by the time you leave. p.s. the outdoor patios are swamped in water.

Being right in front of the beach, very easy to find food and groceries in the backstreet
The way we were not warned that the property was doing renovations in the floor below us and how they didnt care about any of their clients in relation as to at what time the noise started. We ended up spending some of the nights at another place where we could sleep until later.
There was also a briken glass in the balcony, which they later told us they wanted to replace while we were staying there.
Being in front of the beach is nice, but also very noisy. At about 3pm the local bars start playing very loud music, which goes until 11pm, so kniw youre going to a party area.

Perfect location, great food, coffee places and beaches around.
Bad bugs…

The hotel has a nice outdoor, covered bar for drinks and watching the pretty little beach. The main activity on the beach was surfing lessons. Although swimming was not allowed. I went swimming early in the morning. The water was fairly clear and there were many small colorful fish especially out away from shore where there were some rocks and coral heads. The small beach was of the softest coral sand and the water was very shallow knee deep only after a hundred meters. The hotel sent a golf cart to get us from the entrance to the village and they paid for the golf cart to take us out the next day.
The friendly attendant lugged our suitcases up the rickety stairs to two rooms. One room had lots of mold on the walls and in the wall paper and smelled heavily of mold. The other room smelled strongly of tobacco smoke. I said the smoky room was not acceptable. After a bit of a stand-off, he showed us a room in the back that smelled fine. The moldy room was also too noisy as it was right next to a disco. The hotel is a long thin building with the thin side facing the sea. Most of the rooms have no view.

The location was great ..balcony looks out to the beach and can hear the ocean waves which is what i had been missing. However, at least the room i stayed in (with the weird swing on the balcony that was broken so if you sat in it it stretched all the way to the ground lol) was in need of some TLC. The balcony green turf was really really gross..didn't dare walk onto the balcony barefoot. To be honest it would have been fine if the price was half what i paid..but it was double the price than what other places that were much nicer and also ocean front were charging. Over all i just over paid for what the room was. Perhaps it just rents out for a higher price on booking.com and maybe it's cheaper if you book directly with them. I will say that the manager was very nice. He arranged free airport pick up which probably would have cost me at least 100rmb. He also helped me with finding bus stop to go to dadonghai. But the hotel itself is very run down. It has potential but needs a lot of upkeeping. Ultimately, it's an ok place to stay at if the price is like 250. Then it would be value for the view and what you get.
cleanliness, upkeep of the place.

I travelled to Houhai alone for a short break and found this place online. The location is perfect, it is right on the beach and close to the Main Street area where most things are happening (the good bars and eateries). This hotel is great value for money and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. One night the staff even invited me to enjoy their Dragon Boat celebration meal with them which was very entertaining! Regularly the owner helped me out with things and went above expectations. They have a range of surf boards, kayaks, paddle boards, etc... to rent too.
The bed could have been more comfortable but I asked to change rooms for a more comfy bed and that problem was solved right away with no complaints from the boss. For the price - you cannot complain about this too much!

Great location, this is what you come here for, on the beach with shops and bars behind. Surfing on the beach outside is great spot to learn and there are a lot of learners. not far up the beach are much better waves and surfers as you progress. Stayed in the family room and the balcony is huge, good communal area downstairs.
It was good, a bit run down but had everything we needed, nothing I did not like but lacks the detail to make a great hotel if it was not beach front it would rate lower.

+ planty of spaces to hang clothes
cons
- located in a dirty district and small village
- hard to find on the map when driving on your own
- parking outside the village and then walk in

Noisy at night

We loved the easy access to the beach and the outside deck that overlooks the panoramic bay view. The mood is chilled. The honeymoon room has a jet bath to die for. The staff are kind and will help with anything you need.
Tired rooms, over decorated, This place is a popular hotel to stay in. As people are leaving new ones are coming in and there is never really time to do a deep clean or a revamp. Things corrode by the sea so we are a little more forgiving this time and will blame the state of the rooms on this. We loved our stay, we spent most of our time in the ocean so we did not care for the room. The bed was hard so know this before booking as that is a personal preference I guess.
