About this villa rental
L'Eclaircie is a family villa sleeping up to 12 in 6 bedrooms (5 double bedrooms, 1 bunk bed room). The views from the large terrace are stunning looking down onto the ancient castle of Grimaud in the distance and over forests and vineyards beyond towards St Tropez, Gassin and the sea. The house has a feeling of peace and tranquility as it is surrounded by its own 2 hectare forest of cork oak and pines with no other houses in sight yet it is only 7 mins walk into the picturesque medieval village of La Garde Freinet.
The village has several restaurants and bars, a twice weekly market, 2 butchers, a boulangerie, 2 small supermarkets, art galleries and other picturesque shops.
For energetic children there is the village football pitch and the skate park. For energetic adults there are beautiful walks directly from the house in the woods or up in the hills from where one can see all the way to the Alps on a clear day or south to the sea.
St Tropez and St Maxime are about 19 kilometers away as are the beaches therefore, so the choice is quiet and peaceful or busy and exciting depending on one's mood at the time.
There is a large theme park only 20 mins away along with go-karting and paint-balling plus a water park 30 mins away for the young and there are three golf courses within easy reach. The area is also full of beautiful vineyards to explore and enjoy wine tastings.
The villa itself is designed for easy living with its outdoor dining just outside the kitchen under the pergola and bright airy living room. There are five bedrooms on the ground floor: 1 superking with ensuite bathroom (inc double basins, bath, shower & wc), 1 more superking, 1 double, 1 twin and a room with bunk beds. There is a further bathroom with wc bath, shower and double basins as well as one shower room with wc and basin.
On the first floor is the master suite with large bedroom with super king bed, ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, wc and double basins and a separate dressing room. There is also a private balcony off the bedroom with exceptional uninterrupted views towards the sea.
There is a well equipped kitchen with double neff oven, induction hob, double sink, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, and a breakfast table that seats 8 people.
The light and airy living room has 3 x 3 seater sofas, two armchairs, dining table which seats 12, TV (with Orange cable) and DVD player and a beautiful stone fireplace with log-burning stove.
There is also a separate laundry room with washing machine, tumble drier and large fridge/freezer plus an ice-making machine.
Outside there is a beautiful swimming pool which can be heated (from May to September) at an extra charge of 250€ per week. It is particularly large being 12m x 6m. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool.
The large terrace with its glorious views which runs along the entire length of the house has plenty of shaded seating areas plus a Weber gas barbecue.
There is also a boule pitch, a ping pong table and a swing.
Well behaved dogs are welcome upon request but not allowed on beds or sofas. Additional charge for cleaning 50€.
Please note our changeover day is Friday so we can only take bookings from Fridays to Fridays.

Our extended family of 10 spend 2 glorious weeks here and it met all of our expectations. The close (walkable) proximity to town is a distinct advantage. La Garde-Freinet is a lovely village with welcoming residents/shopkeepers. The kitchen of the villa is very well equipped. The pool and deck area are very enjoyable. The host is responsive. The house manager lives in town and is very helpful. We would return in a heartbeat.

Lovely house in a lovely location
This is a lovely spacious house with a spectacular view in a secluded quiet location. There are four sitting / eating areas depending on weather and time of day - in full sunshine on the terrace overlooking the pool, under a shady awning next to the kitchen, in the sitting / dining room indoors, and in the kitchen itself. We used all of them!
Nearby, there is something for everyone, including a skate park for the teenagers, a fine dining restaurant (Chez Bruno - truffles with everything), St.Tropez for the chic, Monaco for the minted, and a ruined castle in Grimaud for historyphiles.
We loved it.

Perfect Paradise!
Perfect paradise ! This beautiful spacious home has unparalleled stunning views of the surrounding countryside, truly comfortable en suite bedrooms and a lovely south facing terrace along the length of the house for dining and relaxing in the peaceful fresh air. Lovely pool and inviting local village within easy walking distance with excellent wine shop, bakeries and other local products on offer. We would recommend it to all our friends who seek a short drive to local beaches and secluded luxury at home!

A great Côte d'Azur treat !
As its name goes, « L’Eclaircie », hidden in a wood of cork oaks, offers stunning views over the unspoiled Massif des Maures towards the sea.
We had a wonderful time there in August 2016, for a break that was way too short : kids having fun in the large pool, walks to the nearby charming village with nice shops and and overlooking castle ruins, a short drive to the beach, and best of all long evenings sipping local wine on the terrace, watching the sunset in these clear, deep blue skies that you only get on the Méditerranée, followed by a star-gazing session. The house itself has been recently redecorated. It is very chic and extremely comfortable for a large party. Highly recommended.

Stunning location and sumptuous retreat
We stayed for a week in early September. It has recently had new owners who have clearly re-furnished it and have done so beautifully. The property is very secluded and set on the side of the hill, yet less than a 10 minute walk to the heart of the lovely village of Le Garde Freinet where there are many good restaurants. The view from our ground floor ensuite bedroom at L'Eclaircie was stunning - with Grimaud Castle in the near distance and Gassin afar. On a good run St Tropez is only about 25 minutes away. The main living room is very large and impressive with a double height ceiling, sizeable stone fireplace as the focal point, and 3 extremely comfortable sofas where our party could relax after dinner. The swimming pool is large and well maintained and itself looks out toward Grimaud. We had a wonderful time at L'Eclaircie and hope to return next year.
