The animals (hippos, waterbuck and warthogs) coming onto the campsite at night was fantastic. The location also meant we weren't paying park fees to stay there because the access was on a public road. The evening meal around the campfire was also great.
The rooms were tired and dirty. The mosquito nets had holes in. Signposting to the campsite was poor.

Lovely bandas, food really good, and a power socket to charge our phones - what else could you want? But best bit was meeting an elephant on the way back from the village after buying bottled water. And the hippos hoovering up grass a few metres from our window every night was great too.

This is a magical place! You are staying in the heart of the national park - elephants, hippos and plenty of birds at your doorstep! Sunset and dawn will give the place a magical touch!
This is a truly astonishing place. Staying here is an adventure & you support the local community which is living in the national park. This is a very important contribution to nature conservation - it is so important that the local communities benefit from national parks & not only the owners of the high end (and high price) lodges.
But be prepared to be very close to nature - if you panic when hippos & elephants walk through the camp this might not be the right place for you. Otherwise it is totally worth every dollar, euro or ugx.
The huts are super comfortable, clean and well maintained. Of course it is not a super luxury place - but honestly who needs that if nature provides all that beauty.
You can get to the camp with bodas or you can get picked up by a driver (around 80k). The drive to the camp is a mini safari on its own.
Tip: We made the mistake to book a safari in advance from an company in fort Portal - rather arrange something with the locals - our neighbours did a boot trip on the lake with a local fisherman & they loved it!
You can cook your own meals if you are traveling on budget & know how to cook on fire :)
Thanks for this experience!

Thjs lodge is fantastic. It may seem difficult to find but it’s worth it as you are greeted by lovely local staff, especially Sharon the chef who cooks up great local food including fresh fish. The 4 traditional thatched huts are clean and comfortable and come with a refreshing shower
Animals roam around the camp all night while you can sit by campfire to enjoy the outside.
breakfast is by the lake to watch the birds and hippos
it’s near the Salt lakes but through the village nearer the fresh water lake so there is no suphur smell
if you are wanting a reasonably priced that is run by locals and supports the local village this is it
if you are used to staying in expensive resorts this may not be for you but I would say give it a go as you have a much more authentic experience

This place has a huge potential. It is beautifully located with lots of animals around and the hippos literally walked past our tent at night. That was a magnificent experience.
The place is also mismanaged. Even though someone (the owner?) texted us asking about our exact arrival time to make sure that the tents are ready when we arrive, staff on the ground was surprised about the new guests when we showed up. They also did not knew how to properly pitch the tents we booked. It took them such a long time to set these up that it got dark before we could get into the tents. The staff also did not know that there is supposed to be bedding in the tents (which the booking confirmation clearly states) and it took them extra time to find anything reasonable. Unfortunately, the tents were in a very poor condition and it rained at night. One of the tents got completely soaked through, the other had water coming from below in three corners such that our stuff got wet there as well.
I am not sure about the experience when renting a room.
The breakfast is extremely basic (even for Uganda).

Nice place to wake up with hippos in the morning. Nevertheless - place could be cleant - lot of plastic around!!!!!
With little it could make a big difference.
Please clean area - we come to see nature and we even took our garbage with us to avoid more around!

Bandas in the Wild, next to Locals who offer Great Service and quality fresh made Food! Hippos and Antelopes within the Camp, Spectacular! Great Owner and helpful stuff. Would visit again!
Wifi would be an Upgrade, but for the “in the Wild” Expierence not necessarily needed.

The location of this lodge is perfect , you can see Hippo, Elephant and lots of birds all around. It's just near the lake and it's very calm and peacefull. We were planning on staying 3 nights but ended up staying 4. We were with Denis and his Family so we shared all the meals with them and it was very cozy. We reaaly liked being with them. Also the food (Ugandan Food) was very Delicious! So if you want to do some Safari in Queen Elisabeth and at a good price we really recommend this lodge! Thank you to Denis and all the Staff for taking care of us!

A really beautiful and quiet place!. Hippo's, elephants and bucks walking next to the houses.
If you are looking luxury; this is not the place. No cool drinks, no hot water, and food that is available. If you want to experience the Queen Elizabeth Wildlife: this is the place!
Located outside the park (the public road and village also). You have to drive back to the gate for about 15 km. No problem at all... the lions we saw were on the way to and back from the gate!
Nice, modest staff.
