Amazing location in the midst of nature and flowing water with views of the mountains.
Slightly further away from main sites

Excellent location and a great hideaway for city dwellers. The place is aesthetically done so that it looks like an eco-village rather than a hotel which is its USP. It is close enough yet not too close to Dharamshala which is helpful to those who are looking to relax. There is an option to sit by the river or walk in the woods which is added benefit.
Food could have been better, dinner and breakfast buffer were not disappointing but did not meet the expectations we had.

Super friendly, very accommodating staff. Beautiful location, nestled in the mountains with views of the Himalayas from your window. Very nice hiking trails right off the property. The whole experience was magical.
Being nestled in the Indian Himalayas means that it is difficult to reach. But it wouldn't be the same if it wasn't nestled in the Himalayas.

Incredible location, so peaceful and relaxing away from the crowds with amazing mountain views. Good connection to both Dharamshala and Kangra airport. Sleeping with the sound of the river! Great place to hang out outside and relax, good food too. Showers have amazing pressure and plenty of hot water.

This was the most amazing place I've stayed in all of India. It is a total retreat with nature trails, village farms, a rushing river, and incredible views of the whole snowy mountain range. Waking to the cacaphony of birds and the sleeping to the rushing of the water cured my soul! Also, the story of Didi, the architect, who created this eco haven is incredible!

excellent picturesque location, great staff, good food.
3.5
The location is really beautiful and you can spend so much time just around the hotel with the mountains, river and trees.
The room was clean and had a really nice view.
The food tasted good.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was a generator pump machine just above my room which made a loud noise every time someone used the water so it was on and off all day and all night. This was a shame as it interferes with the natural sounds of the river. The staff kindly offered me a different room but I didn't want to give up the view of my room so I stayed.
I am vegan and had tried to say a few times I only would want anything that could be vegan but the ground kitchen staff kept bringing non vegan food to me, e.g. dishes with curd or mayo. I think it would be good for the ground kitchen staff to come and ask each table if they have any specific requirements, this way food isn't wasted.

Immaculate location - far from the bustle of the main town, Prakriti Aalay is beautifully nestled on the banks of a river, looking up to the snow clad Dhauladhar range.
Beautifully and thoughtfully built, the architecture offers a lot of open spaces and trails to move around the property. A bunch of indoor and outdoor activities are a great way of keeping busy while relaxing at the property. Nice, big rooms and a great balcony view (overlooking the river and the mountains) with ample natural light during the day is extremely refreshing.
The staff was very warm and courteous and our meals at the property were delicious - very home style, with just the right amount of excitement of eating out! The property also has a nice 2+ km hike which takes you upto a beautiful vantage point the looks towards the main town and is pretty friendly to walk through. The property also arranges for local transport on demand which matches the price of any local taxi service and is extremely clean and hygienic.
The only thing to watch out for is the approach from where the parking/road drop off is - it might be a bit tricky with old age or anyone suffering knee/fitness issues. Manageable, but tricky. I suggest you speak to the property directly before booking in case this is a criteria.
All in all, our stay was superb and we wouldn't think twice before before with them again, whenever we visit next.

Exceptional Staff, Sevice and Serenity of Location. One of the best places in Dharamshala to experience for a Tranquil and a close to nature stay.

Truly exceptional. The whole property is done old style rural, with mud plaster finish walls, solar lights, reed mats for blinds etc. It's just off a busy road and approaching on the road I couldn't imagine going down some steps and crossing the bridge on the stream we would be transported into an idyll. The stream gurgles and meanders through the property, its sound a constant soothing balm. We had a family room which was immaculate and had all the facilities. Very comfy beds with electric blankets. A big balcony with 4 chairs and a superb view of the Dhauladhar range. We had a great view from the room too, from sitting in bed or on chairs.
I loved the blast of hot water from the shower, its water pressure was so high on full power it would be a water cannon! The staff were ever smiling, helpful and very considerate. They offered and made ajwain water for my father who had a cough.
We had a bonfire at night. Food was fresh and homestyle. Both chicken and fish dishes were delicious. As was the grilled chicken sandwich and veg soup we had at night. On the morning of our departure, they packed us breakfast to take, including apples and papaya. We had our meals on the terrace and spent the entire afternoon there admiring the snow capped peaks and watching a plethora of birds. Point to remember is the mountains will be snow covered in winter but will probably be bare in summer.
There were woods backing the property and a a trail well marked with arrows to take a walk in. There's a games room with table tennis, archery and board games. There are various nooks to sit and enjoy different aspects of the property like the trees and the stream.
Hardly anything to dislike. Just a couple of suggestions. They could have a bedside lamp in the second room. Right now you have to get up from the bed if reading and switch off the light. There is a reflective material like a false ceiling under the roof. There's a gap between the end of this material and the wall. When the A/C (sending warm air into the room in winter) automatically switches to fan mode it pulls the cold air under the roof and blasts it towards the bed. The temperature keeps alternating between warm and cold, rather than staying warm all through. They could close the gap allowing cold air in.

The location is fantastic!
The breakfast is very average, given that there are no other options around , one is stuck with the breakfast made by the hotel.

The location is awesome👏
The bed linen was old and worn out. Food needs improvement.

This is a beautiful property that is well maintained with very comfortable rooms and facilities. We opted for a meal plan and the food was delicious. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, and the facilities had a variety of activities (badminton, ping pong, archery, etc) and sit on the edge of a river with a view of the mountains. overall - really great
Nothing - it was all great.

Service was very good. Staff was polite, courteous and helpful. Specially, Praveen Bharadwaj. Very natural setting .
Approach to the resort was bad . Owners may have tried to give the place natural look but climb and getting down to resort is not only difficult but can be risky. There was no rain during our stay but even the dew made approach quite slippery.

Location
Don't go for ratings here. After paying charges of five star property. We got services, amenities of basic OYO room.
After paying 8-9K per night, we didn't get AC. Temperature in May, when we visited was around 35 Deg at night.
Staff was untrained. Food was that of local roadside dhaba. But the charges were of resort. Owner/ Manager was ignorant for any request or for Booking.com representatives call/ mails.
Very bad experience overall.
Been to many resorts/ hotels. But this was worse.
Ruined my family vacation.

Great place for a stay-cation with family. A beautiful, environment minded luxury resort with breathtaking views all around. A small trek to reach the venue adds to the charm. The staff are very friendly and responsive to requests.
This is not the place to stay if your main goal for the vacation is to tour around and visit the tourist sights of Dharamshala and MacLeod Ganj. Although the resort is very efficient in arranging taxis for the same.

Did not have no comment
Argumentative non customer centric attitude of owner. Two rooms for a family with one bathroom so for a family of 4 , 2 to 3 hours to get ready. Tea bags in room kept open and very low quality.Wifi is poor. No facility of washroom for drivers in parking area they have to travel 3 kms to get some lodge and no food available for drivers. From the road till hotel downslope and dark at night ligts are not lit up unless requested and mobile signals are bad. In all not worth the money and never experienced such high handedness of owner from any service industry.

we had booked for 7 nights at this property. however due to a medical emergency- my father got hospitalised on 24 May, we had to cut short the trip after 4 nights .
inspite of the medical emergency- the owner refused to pay us back the remainder of 3 nights which was expected on humanitarian grounds. extremely money minded .
please avoid this property because of the management
