Breakfast was good
Room was small ,bed also smaller than I expected from a 4 star hotel , decor needs updating
7.0
The room was very clean and the hotel looked nice.
We didn't get to use the spa as it closed quite early.
The room I was in had a bathroom down some steep metal edged stairs which wasn't pleasant.
We paid for breakfast but needed to leave by 7.30. We were told that breakfast didn't begin until 7.30 but we could pay an additional £5 each for a continental breakfast at 7am. When we left at 7.15 the restaurant still advertised 7.30 opening but it was full of other guests enjoying a full cooked buffet.

a quirky charm - reflective of its historic past.
parts need a refresh but not the main areas.

Friendly staff, good location, easy ample parking
Lunch in restaurant - food is a bit basic. seems to be stuck in 1950s time warp

Location
Very small room (for the price ) which could have done with a refurb - I stay here at least twice a year the only reason I stay is because of location - I do not mind in the least paying a premium for accommodation which is of a good standard but this always seems expensive for what you get . I stay In hotels every
Week for work .

Pre booked food prior to visit. Gave order4 hours prior to service. Informed staff I was there twice before service. X 3 tables served before me. Waited another 20 minutes and left. No apologies from staff. Maybe busy, lack of staff or just forgotten. No explanation. Left. Was on a conference next day and the food was excellent. I would not stay there again. However, there is an annual conference with work. Work informed….
Paint came off in bathroom. Cold water tap came off in my hands. Bathroom net darned.

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Children enjoyed the swimming pool
4.0
The Spa is very nice with Sauna and Steam room and pool. There is also a small gym should you wish to partake. The bedroom was an average size. The Breakfast was very nice but buffet style. The evening meal was also very nice but expensive.
The bedrooms are very old fashioned. needs updating. The breakfast was buffet style and a bit cold would prefer to be brought to my table. Drinks and evening meal expensive. A lot of the staff are foreign and we had to repeat some things we asked for more than once.
