We loved this hotel. Loved the decor. Loved the bar. Loved the restaurant. Loved their own distilled spirits. The staff was super friendly. Ranier was a pleasant and friendly little town to hang around in. Right next to Rainy Day Lake. Easy drive to the different areas of Voyageurs National Park. I can't think of a single complaint about the hotel or the area.
I'd complain there was no ice machine, but if you ask at the front desk, they will happily supply you with ice. So no complaint.

Great location, large beautiful rooms, great restaurant, loved the rooftop patio, hot tub and views. Kid and family friendly place!
For a boutique hotel, I expected and would have appreciated real half and half for my morning coffee instead of shelf stable mini creamers. A 9am breakfast/kitchen open was too late for our family. We were up at 6am, and we would have liked to have sat down for breakfast at 8am.
4.3
Clean room, friendly staff, excellent cocktails in a cozy setting that opened up to the outdoors on a nice night. Good food as well.
Noise reduction. Expected some train noise; however, did not expect the amount of noise from the other rooms. Walls and ceiling so poorly insulated that normal volume conversations that were going on into the night could be clearly heard from above and to each side of our second floor room. Though the staff were awesome and the hotel stylishly done, would not stay again as our goal is to get a good night’s sleep, which did not happen here.

Stylish hotel. Very comfortable with good sauna and hot tub.
Bar was good but would be better if they stocked beer and wine as well as spirit based drinks.
4.3
nice aesthetic, good food and drinks.

It was clean and had good industrial vibe
It is right next to the train tracks and it gets very loud at night when the trains pass by. There were a lot of mosquitoes including the inside of the rooms.

This was such an unexpected pleasure. It’s surprising to find something this cool in such a small town. The hotel is unique with a cool story. It’s great to be able to eat at the hotel and the food was very good. Sweets in the morning were also good. Rooms are spacious and very clean and service was excellent.
View from the room was a parking lot so not great. Also, there are trains that go by often but the sound wasn’t terrible. Adjusting heat/cool was a little tricky. You can really only set it to “cool” and it switches to heat based on the temp.

My boyfriend and I were there to hike and canoe throughout Voyagers National Park. The staff was great! We enjoyed being there so much we extended for a third night. Would stay there again if ever in the area. Highly recommend to anyone going to the Rainy Lake area of MN. The town of Rainer is lovely as well.
The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been if the hot tub on the roof was working and not out of service for repairs.

Claw foot tub in our bathroom ... looks great. Hard to enter and exit without grab rails

We ate at the bar and the food and service was excellent. Very friendly bartenders and person checking us in.
My wife and I were really looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub on the rooftop in the evening, however it was not in working order.

clean, new
train so close, small towels, hanging space high, no mirror in room, only claw foot tub (hard to use with limited mobility), no shelves near tub for toiletries

Really unique boutique hotel in a small Minnesota town - style, atmosphere and a great restaurant on site. My only wish would be a coffee maker in the room.
