Loved everything about this BnB. The hostess was so kind and patient with my halting French; we showed up after the BnB closed (got stuck on a train) and she not only gave extremely detailed directions but hid the key so we were able to get in (then stayed up waiting for us!). She also let us leave our baggage in the room so we could spend the day unencumbered. I also had a conversation with her upon my return from the Chateau d'Oex balloon festival; the hot air balloons land right outside the Bnb! Rossiniere was a snowy wonderland. And the room was cute, cozy, and decorated like a Swiss alpine chalet (which it was). Amazing view out our window. Freezing outside yet super warm inside. Comfortable beds. Only regret was didn't get to experience breakfast!
Everything was great!

I liked the view.
I liked the quietness of the hotel.
I did not like that there was no communal area to relax, have a drink or chat to friends. After breakfast, the breakfast area was locked.
The bathroom towels were poor - I could see through the bathtowel.
I did not like that the front door was locked and we had to use the rear basement exit.
I did not like that the downstairs toilets were locked and unusable.
I did not like that on check out the host charged my account in Euros instead of CHF, despite the cost was CHF. Her response was "it is the same anyways".
I found the room a little tired. There were pictures on the room walls that would look better in a frame, and the bed lamp was missing a toggle. Simple things, and cheap to resolve. Shame the host was not interested.
I did not like having to bend down to shower - the shower head was at 5 feet high only.

I was very easily able to amend my booking to arrive one night earlier and the hotel accommodated my request.
When I arrived, I was greeted and was swiftly able to check-in. I was told that I could pay for my hotel stay at the time of departure.
The hotel room I was provided was cozy and it was an decent stay for 3 nights.
The breakfast each morning was really tasty, It was organized well too. There was a variety of food that catered to my dietary requirements that I had specified in advance. It felt very homely with the eating area setup.
I was happy with housekeeping that took place daily, that kept my room neat and tidy.
I had a fantastic balcony view of the mountains and luscious green fields.
The check-in time closed at 8 pm and I was traveling from far. It would have been helpful if the check-in time was at least open till about 10 pm.
The bedding and pillows were slightly hard that made the sleep a bit uncomfortable.
Whenever I wanted to go out of the hotel, I was instructed to use the basement as an exit. This required going down several stairs, and required constant switching on/off a dimly lit room with a door that lead outside. On nights where I returned late, I had to use the same area to enter the hotel. I was not sure why the front door (main entrance) could not be used.

Simple and bit of an "old-fashioned" small family run hotel. However, if you are looking for something cozy and quiet, that might be the right pick for you.
There is much that I do not like, but it has NOTHING to do with the hotel itself. The town Rossinière is a stop on the Via Alpina hiking trail. There is no supermarket in the town, and there is no restaurant (the only restaurant was closed for 2 months). We were lucky that the owners did fix us a quick dinner and are absolutely grateful for that (because we arrived late in the rain after hiking the Col du Jable). However, you might not be able to count on that, and that might leave you in a place where you can not get anything to eat. There is a train station, but it runs AFAIK on an hourly schedule.
Again: This has nothing to do with the hotel and the owner were super helpful.

Our hostess was so lovely! Room was clean and comfortable with a balcony that overlooked the village. Breakfast was served (not buffet) and delicious!
At the time we visited, the restaurant wasn’t open for dinner, but there are other options a short distance away.

Very nice stay in a peaceful little village! The hotel staff were extremely kind and friendly! They made sure that my visit was comfortable and relaxing! It was a really quaint and charming B&B! Beautiful Old Swiss decor in the breakfast room! Breakfast was very delicious with house made bread and jelly! The tap water in this village, is the best I've ever tasted! My room was on a high floor and it had an amazing view of the church, village and mountains from my balcony! There was also a cool Swiss 🇨🇭 flag blowing in the breeze in front of my balcony! My room was very comfortable and clean! The shower had great water pressure! It was very quiet and peaceful at nighttime! Had a wonderful stay! Thanks again! 😊

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They knew we were hiking and tired so they served us dinner early as well as early breakfast the next day so we could get started quickly. The room was very comfortable and peaceful. The food was excellent.
Also, the views from our room and the restaurant were gorgeous.
Nothing! It was great.

The breakfast (usually served at 8am or later but offered early as a special request) was quite good with homemade jams and bread.
This hotel reminds me of the movie "Arsenic and old lace" and I felt unwelcome from the first approach to its locked and shut door (phone to service?). I was further put off by the gasoline exhaust fumes in the stairwell and secondhand cigarette smoke in the dining room. I would avoid the tiny town of Rossiniere entirely, which is totally shut on Sundays, and stay in nearby Chateau d'Oex instead. I would never stay at this property again.

We felt at home at this little hotel. We arrived early and were checked in without having to wait. View from our balcony was great.
Rösti for dinner was delicious. We had an interesting conversation with the owner and learned about some customs in the good old days.
