The property was a typical Thai style stilted bungalows on the beach. This was the other end of the island to where the boat drops you off. However, you get a free transfer from the pier to the property by the owner who is absolutely loverly. They rented me a scooter (without having to hand over my passport)to get round the island. (This is essential no matter where on the island you stay)
There is nothing I didn’t like about the property, it was just what I wanted.

Lovely staff, good breakfast, nice scenery
The houses were not in the greatest condition, don't expect an insect-free place.
Ants and geckos are in the room, if you do not have a problem with this, you should be fine

Great family runned resort with lovely staff.
Wooden bungalow with a hammock on the porch and a seaview just like the old days.
Place could need some maintenance effort but understandable after the covid.

Extremely friendly staff, great remote location and convenient drinks nearby.

If you want to cut out all the excessive fancy things modern resorts offer, and spend some days living a simple, slow, and undisturbed life, this is the place.
We intentionally chose the fan room because, who needs A/C on this breezy island? We spent most of our time on the hammocks at the front porch with just a fan, chilling, reading, eating fresh fruits. Then we occasionally walked out to the beach. This is not where you can actually swim though. The shallow beach here stretches out pretty far and we eventually gave up trying to figure out where the deep spot was. It was pretty enough to be out there walking in waist-high water surrounded by nothingness. And at least we could float on our backs and watch the sky.
Their restaurant was still closed during our stay, but we could buy stuff from shops outside and use their kitchen, that felt so much like home. However, if you are heavy eaters and look to enjoy big Thai or seafood meals, make some plan ahead because you have to ride out to restaurants nearby. Scooters are available for rent at the resort too.
The owner and his family were warm and helpful. It feels like visiting your kind aunt and uncle.
I gave :) and not :D to comfort and cleanliness because...
- do not expect fluffy pillows and soft beds, this is the simple stuff most local people sleep on
- the room smelled a bit damp when we arrived because they had been closed for a long time. I used room spray and then it’s fine. The bed and towels were clean.
The only things I’d like to change in the fan bungalow is that there was no mosquito nets and screen windows. If you choose to open the windows at night there will be nothing between you and the outside world. This can feel a little bare to some but we did it and it was safe. Plus there weren’t that much mosquitoes either. But bugs, yes.
Also, the window looking out to the beach is a fixed glass window you can’t open. I wish we could. It will make the house much breezier.
