Fantastic Hotel, Staff and Management very welcoming, Highly Recommended

The staff were friendly and helpful
The advertising pictures looked really nice. However our rooms (we had 4) were desperately in need of renovation and upgrading. The furniture was obviously very old, and the beds in desperate need of replacement. The shower seemed only to be either cold or scalding.

Having stayed there previously was happy to book again and will consider for future
There wasn’t anything that I disliked or that would stop me returning

Staff were lovely & bar and downstairs area is lovely
Rooms are very dated and beds uncomfortable. We stayed as we had an early flight and it's close to the airport. We got 0 hours sleep thanks to the extremely loud disco/karaoke till 12am then the loud arguments between our room next door and the night manager.

My daughter booked the honeymoon suite as a wedding present. We got the keys, went in and someone else belongs were in there. We went back to reception, and we were informed a footballer was in there, and had been for weeks, and had promised to check out that day! We were then put into another room. This wasn't a honeymoon suite. After my daughter complained, we were offered a complimentary meal in the restaurant. The meal was beautiful, and Darren the duty manager was very attentive. We finally were moved into another honeymoon suite the next afternoon, after having to hang about waiting. It was a big room, stunk of moth balls though, and by this point we had had enough of unpacking and packing our cases. My daughter was eventually refunded for one of the nights, but it was completely spoiled for us with all the upheaval from room to room. Not good if there are other couples who have booked the honeymoon suite in the coming days or even weeks. They have no intention of moving mr young footballer out to accommodate your booking! Still showing as available to book too!!!
The fact that we were just supposed to accept that there was someone else in the room that was booked and paid for months before. The rooms are tired and dated, shower pressure non existent! We won't be back here, and I would tell anyone to avoid the place at all costs. Light bulbs were out in most of the lamps in all the rooms we have been in ( we had two nights in a standard room, before we were to go into the honeymoon suite after our wedding).

The fact I’m leaving it.
Squeaky floorboards, hardest mattress I’ve ever slept on literally like sleeping on a boulder, can smell the restaurant throughout the whole hotel and staff lock you in at night. Won’t be back.

After mentioning to the staff that we wished for a room relocation due to being next to the kitchen, we were moved without a problem.Breakfast was good - try and time it so that you get there when each hit item is replenished.

Staff were lovely. The food in the restaurant was very nice. Shared areas were lovely
Our room (room 8) was really tired. Bathroom was really the worst part. Black mouldy sealant all round the bathroom. Looked grubby. Aparently it was a jet bath but I'd never have bathed in that. Also huge water stain on the ceiling where upstairs had leaked through. Bed comfy enough but the worst throw pillows that really cheapen the place.
Lights in room were so poor. But... The bathroom lights were awesome.
Walking through the outside hall was the noisiest experience and really needs addressed.
Staff walked RIGHT past our window.... and looked in.

Staff were very nice and helpful, bar food was great and bar staff were lovely. Breakfast was adequate for our needs - all self serve and fairly basic.
Tea bags instead of stewed tea in a flask. Everything else was fine.

The hotel is situated in a good location, rooms are a decent size if you go "executive". Facilities are decent, however the rooms are becoming dated and worn. I have stayed at the Avonbridge for many years whilst away on business. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, and the food good, just starting to feel a little dated. However this would not deter me in continuing to stay. The restaurant is now closed on a Monday night, so bar meals are available only.
Restaurant is now closed on a Monday night, so only bar meals available which are mostly pizza's.
Breakfast used to be cooked to order, now self service with limited choice.

Nothing at all about the experience
I booked this hotel last year as a Christmas gift to my mum from her children. We always book her a few nights away. We got there today and the service and was terrible. I appreciate the receptionist was trying to be helpful but she did not acknowledge my mum and spoke direct to me, it was as if my mum was not there. She advised she was staying in one of the outbuildings but this may be too far for my mum so she offered us another room if she could. There was no lifts available so certain rooms were unsuitable and mum would have to climb 24 stairs which she cannot do. She advised the ground floor rooms are available but are next to the bar area which is busy Friday and Saturday nights. She took me to the corridor to see how far it was, it was fine so she then took me back to reception where I asked if it was the same type of room only to find out it wasn't, she offered to let me see the room, I was not happy to move mum to a standard room. She took me outside to show me how far it was to the out building, looked ok but it was further than I expected when walking but we decided to try it. We got into the building, had difficulty unlocking the first door to then walk into a porch area with names on doors, no numbers or directions. We decided to try the doors and walked through to another area that had more door names and a long set of stairs! Again no room numbers, we opened one door and still couldn't find the room and no directions. I walked back to the main building to ask where the room was, on the way there i noticed the room number on key was different to room number on bit of paper provided, so not sure at this point which is her room, the receptionist and another lady had no idea where the room was. Fair enough she was néw and only worked 2 days a week no idea how long the other lady had been there but I feel this information should be available to guests if they want to find the room!

Room was spacious, reception staff welcoming and polite
On the Saturday morning I had 3 knocks at the door before 9am, 2 asking if we needed spare towels and 1 asking if we had fire evacuation poster in room. In terms of poster this should be something that is done prior to us checking in.
Saturday night we had youths running up and down corridor chapping our door as they passed, I had a conversation with reception( who was very polite ) to be told I was the 3rd and she would say to the youths teachers again.
Also maybe upgrading tvs to smart so people can use it for entertainment
I booked this weekend for both my wife's and my birthday treat as a way to relax from mum and dad Duties and switch off from everyone.
So to be disturbed by both housekeeping and other patrons was disappointing, as we had looked forward to this hotel due to the recent reviews
