Fantastic old Quinta in a great location with lovely views of the river. The in-house meals & wine offered excellent value for money - would thoroughly recommend.

The location is magical. The staff is sweet and just attentive enough. The pool was clean, the river access was great. The view from our room was perfect. A great place to just HANG OUT
We had a room with "twin beds". We like that, but the beds are too hard. They have made the choice to not air condition the rooms. We respect that choice, but a room fan would help keep air moving and/or bring cool air in during the night. (It was quite warm). Dinner was wonderful, but we are used to having more vegetables in a meal. (This is an issue in most restaurants in Portugal). We realize that in Portugal, gluten is in almost everything, it would be nice if there were more things that the gluten allergic person in our group could eat.

Location, friendly welcome, homey environment, quietness Even with a railway crossing the farm - actually one of the charms. The railway station very close by allowed us to travel without the car, even for a just a dinner
Staff could be more professional, although they were all very nice and friendly; Breakfast could be more farm-like

lovely gem, feels like an old monastery which has been changed to a hotel. Really love the building.
The staff is very friendly and like in France you can eat what the chefs cooking. No choices, but superb food 👍 the Veal was delicious
the beds might not be suitable for everyone. the beds are still spring mattresses. still had a pleasant sleep

We loved it the first time and always come back here. Make sure you book your dinner in advance: by the fireplace, you will never forget. And you may pickup oranges to take home if you wish.

The location and setting are perfect. Good quality and generous meals. Spacious room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff.
I just needed an extra blanket (non available in the cupboards) and had to ask for hot water in the bathroom twice.

This was one of the finest places we’ve ever been! The staff is fantastic, the location is literally perfect! The food was wonderful. Only complaint was the beds were a little too firm for our tastes. Also for light sleepers the train coming through a couple times a night might be a problem. But all the other wonderful factors more than made up for any comfort with the beds or sound at night. We had one of the greatest time of our lives there. We absolutely recommend!!!
As mentioned, the bed seemed rather hard. It is close to the train station which is convenient, but there is noise when the trains come through. No way around it. But Please, don’t let that stop you! You won’t be sorry.

The staff was very friendly but you could notice they are not allowed to make decisions.
The pool area is amazing with an overlook on the river. The house is such a gem, if they would put a little TLC into it.
It is next to a train station, but they only run from
9 - 9, so no problem during the night.
The AC in our room spat ice cubes and made a horrific noise during the night. Even if you turned it off it kept regenerating for hours after it. It kept us up during 2 nights. When we reported it, they seemed to know all about it, but still they just set us up in the room!
The mechanic was only able to come at the end of the day so we asked for a different room. The house was fully booked, so we were put into the separate building. That room was almost half the size, not maintenanced properly and there were bugs all over it. From an ants attack, to spiders and moths.
When we asked for a partial refund because we had 2 nights in the smaller room, nothing could be done about it. We had expected more after those 4 horrible days.
You could notice that the staff wanted to help, but were not allowed by the owners.
A real shame, because the place itself could be a gem.

Everything, the whole stay was peaceful.
the place is beautiful, easily accessible by train (few minutes by foot from the train station). The staff was great and welcoming.
Dinner was good with a beautiful view!

Wonderful stay in a villa dating back to the 18th century, situated right on the Douro river. You get a feeling of exclusivity here. Dining with a view of the river and the vineyards. Can be reached in a few minutes from Ermida station via a bizarre route right along the railway line. You'll feel like you're stepping back in time a century. Friendly staff who genuinely try to make you feel at home. And of course the beautiful swimming pool! We will definitely come back here.
Breakfast could be a bit better with some more variety and some healthier options. Dining here is a treat, but the culinary quality could be a bit higher. The sanitary facilities are also a bit outdated (but everything works!) But these things hardly detracted from the unique experience we had here.

beautiful house, spacious room with AC, comfortable beds, lovely garden and pool by the river, nice views, breakfast and dinner served outdoors was very enjoyable
the bathroom window has blinds obstructing the access to the sink so if you want privacy you have to roll them up and down constantly. There was no kettle or coffee maker in the room so you have to wait till breakfast time to have tea or coffee.

This place is a real gem! A veritable villa, directly by the river, with park/pool/tennis court - not every day experience for us. On top the hosts went above and beyond to accommodate and feed us - we felt spoiled. We really fell in love with the gorgeous landscape in general and specifically on the property: don’t miss to visit their own waterfall!

I do love this place so much, from the quirky access from the station, to its gardens, the amazingly atmospheric old building, the ludicrously gargantuan meals, and of course the lovely helpful staff. It's wonderful too that such a stately old place can be run so informally yet efficiently. Cozy in the winter and idyllic in summer (breakfast / dinner in the garden as the Douro slides by...) And nice cats too!
If I have to say something under this heading, maybe a main door/gate key to the property would be good? No big deal though!

The building itself and the garden with exotic flowers and trees are incredible. The friendly staff made the experience even better. The dinner was very very good, and so was the breakfast. We enjoyed every moment of our stay!
A train passes through the backyard causing some noise now and then. Not dramatic, and it only takes a short while.

The staff was friendly and professional. The food and wine were great and the atmosphere is simply fantastic and full of history. We loved it!
No complaints, but if you’re driving (which I recommend) be prepared for some curvy roads on the way there.

The swimming pool (directly on the Douro) and gorgeous views!
The breakfast. I expected a bit more from such a location (like something home cooked eg pancakes)

Beautiful location next to the river. Convenient with only 100 meters to the train stop. The pool and garden is nice and there are many different places to sit in the garden. Nice, big rooms with old charming furniture. The building is amazing. A good place to just relax a couple of days.
Their homemade rosé wine is really fresh and nice!
Breakfast is a bit too poor in my opinon. Nothing special, just the basics. It could have been nice with some home made jam instead of all these one portion plastic things. And maybe some fresh fruits from the garden. Small details that makes a big different!
The service is good and the staff are nice. But information could have been better during check-in. It is good to know about things like toilets, snack menu, own wine production from the start.
Dinner was generally fine. Big portugese portions. Dinner first night was super with lots of delicious starters, but the last nights dinner was poor in comparison.

I liked the entire atmosphere.Quiet, beautiful place, nice staff.
Unfortunately I had already a very late lunch. Thus, I was not hungry for having a dinner. I really regretted it. But it was not the fault of the QUinta, but my own :-).

Wow - what an amazing Quinta. The dinner was lavish and delicious, the grounds spectacular and beautiful, a lovely pool and right on the river. A spectacular house in the old tradition. I wished I had stayed longer - so relaxing, caring staff and beautiful. Even had their own wine - vino verde was delicious.

Exceptional customer service started before we even arrived at the hotel. Gabriela contacted us two days before our arrival to ask if we would like to dine in the hotel’s restaurant on the night of our arrival. The hotel was also happy to accommodate our preferences for certain foods. The meal was delicious, plentiful and represented very good value for money (25 Euros per person for 3 courses and wine). The personalised attention continued throughout the duration of our stay.
The hotel itself is charming and decorated in a traditional yet tasteful rustic style. Located on the banks of the River Douro and surrounded by landscaped gardens, the environment is so peaceful and an ideal location to recharge and forget about the outside world. We had the best night’s sleep we have experienced in years!

This is an old Quinta with all its charm. We had made a reservation for dinner upon arrival and a fire had been prepared for us in the chimney next to our dining table. Next morning, breakfast table was laid out on the side of the Douro.
This is the second time we stay here and have no doubt we will come back.
This time, we left with a dozen bottles from Quinta da Hermida (Vinho Verde and Rosé which they had served us at dinner :)
Perfect period to visit the Douro valley with the vineyards being so colorful.
All I would add is Special Thanks to Gabriela ever so helpful.

We liked everything about this property, the family that ran it were amazing, friendly and always willing to help! The location was beautiful, right on the Douro river. I would highly recommend staying here. We stayed in the self catering apartment and the kids had the freedom to walk around.

Wonderful location and staff. Historic building and atmosphere.
If you eat in the garden they kill the ambiance at night with football field lamps that is blindingly harsh.
