The house has been beautifully renovated, our room and the whole property was excellent.

breakfast was excellent.
the hotel is far away from town. Another thing to take into account is that on monday and tuesday, the hotel does not provide restaurant services. This coincides with a lot of restaurants in town closed on same days. Makes dining difficult.

Beautiful interiors and scenery with a lovely pool area. Excellent Wi-Fi as Husband was able to take a few work calls in one of their lounges. Staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to help us whilst travelling with a 7 month old. There locally produced wine was also very much enjoyed.

Fantastic place for a peaceful getaway in picturesque rural surroundings! The hotel and rooms are charming, cozy and sparkling clean, and all the facilities and pools are well taken care of. Staff is exceptional, everyone we met was very helpful, hospitable and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The food was one of the many highlights for sure, our dinner at the hotel was a delight, and we greatly appreciated the staff coming in earlier the day of our check out so that we could have breakfast before early flight home (and it was freshly baked croissants, what a treat!). All in all, we absolutely loved our stay at A Casa do Governador, and will be happy to come back!

Pretty historic home with nice property and charming spaces. Excellent location relative to town - very peaceful area. Bed was very comfortable.
The room description did not match the room, as we had booked a suite for a bed and sleeper combo (friends traveling together). There is a distinct septic smell in the bathroom that was quite strong. No active offer for assistance with booking dinner reservations, Wi-Fi sign-up, etc.

Nearly everything was perfect. The property is expansive and even more beautiful than the photos represent. There are many ancient historical landmarks on the property with interesting signposts describing the history. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms are bigger than expected and very comfortable. There are two beautiful pools and three large common rooms which can be used for relaxing outside the private rooms. The separate private villas looked absolutely gorgeous from the outside and I hope to visit again.
When we arrived, there was a phone number posted on the gate to call in order to open the gate and access the property. However, no one answered the phone after multiple calls. We were left outside with no way of checking in for some time, then a maintenance person who eventually drove by saw us and let us in. Even then, after arriving at the reception there was no one to check us in, so we waited some more until finally someone came to check us in. Answering the phone really must be improved for when guests arrive so they aren't in the same stressful predicament.

I liked EVERYTHING here. The place is better than what you see on the website. It is beautiful and peaceful. You are immersed in nature. It was really wonderful. On New Year's eve, we had a beautiful 'family-like' dinner. The area is quite big and you can do your morning walks around the property. The rooms were incredibly clean. The staff, especially the hotel manager were so helpful, polite and supportive. I will go back to this place for sure.
The fact that I had to leave!

Amazing staff and facilities. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
No time pressure for check in or check out, amazing breakfast, suite room is huge, decoration is outstanding. In the evening, me and my family lit the fire place and opened a bottle of wine from their cellar, the next day was told that all the amenities are to be used by the guests without the need to ask.
Great Attitude, the farm is great, especially if you have kids they can feed the horses and the sheep :)

The hotel was in a charming old home with many historical relics outside. Our room was very large and had a lovely view. Lovely antiques made it feel cozy and authentic. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We weren’t able to take advantage of the pool area but it was lovely and you walk down a path with a vineyard on one side and olive trees on the other. It was exactly the type of country break we needed.

The breakfast was good. The two pools are lovely and quiet. Lots of outside space for sitting in.

The rooms were very comfortable and well set up - good linens, great bed etc and our stay was absolutely great. It's in a very interesting location on a farm and there are two lovely charming typical regional houses. One house operates more like a hotel where there are two lovely lounge areas and where the dining room is located for breakfast - and dinner, if you choose to dine in. The other building, probably 1km from the main house operates more like a self-catering area. There are 5 rooms in this 2nd house and a very large kitchen so it's possible to prepare your own meals or snacks here - but only if you're staying in this house. Its not at all clear when you book which house you will be placed in.
Lack of information is the biggest issue here. We booked two rooms - as there were 2 couples travelling. When we arrived we were told one room was in main house and one was some distance away in another house. It wasn't ideal so we were put in the same distant house and instead of 2 suites, we had to have a junior suite and regular room as that is all that was available. We had booked these rooms some 4 months ago so there was plenty of time to communicate with us if two suites weren't available in the main house. When we arrived we were also not told much information about the property - no info about the pool (actually there are two but not very well maintained), or whether we could use the facilities in the main house to site and relax, and we were not told we could request dinner there. It was only by asking others and asking lots of questions that we found out things. Just disappointing that more information wasn't explained when we arrived. We heard from others there they had the same experience with lack of information. If this was improved it would have made a big difference as there was a lot of confusion and disappointment when we arrived which could have been solved with better communication. . However when we did find out about these things, it was all great and the staff were accommodating. Manuel is charming - a very relaxed host and impeccably dressed.

Staying here feels like staying at your family’s country estate. The main house is beautiful and secluded. It often feels like you have the grounds to yourself. The pools are a great place to spend an afternoon. The breakfast is nice and staff are welcoming. Fast wifi. Very close to Evora (approx. 10 minutes). I recommend trying some of the wine produced from the property’s vines.
Beyond breakfast, the food situation was unclear. Dinner wasn’t available every night. Explicitly ask the staff earlier in the day. Don’t assume you can order dinner.
Because the house is quite old, there is little sound insulation between rooms and common spaces.

The property was very relaxing & tranquil during the day. At certain times, we were the only guests in a given space. The pools, grounds, vineyard, olive trees, animals and numerous ancient landmarks on the property were all very unique. The breakfast options were spectacular, and we enjoyed a lovely dinner on the terrace one night. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and contained many extra details not often found in hotels, that gave it that special touch feeling. The staff was very accommodating and considerate, especially when we had to make a very early morning departure for the airport.
At night, there were many dogs barking, both on and off the property. Since it is a rural area, with sheep and other animals present, I imagine the dogs are guard dogs and doing their job. But, this noise was unexpected and made for a less than restful sleep. There were also roosters crowing at early morning hours, which was a quaint experience, but also a challenge for enough rest as the roosters seemed to start up as soon as the dogs became quiet.

Incredible historical location with magnificent rural grounds filled with ancient olives and oaks. Attentive, kind staff that went above and beyond our expectations. Very unique and culturally Portuguese stay.

Excellent service, good food and overall very welcoming. The location is perfect and the house has been done beautifully.

Beautiful location, just outside of Évora. All the space you want and nice and quiet to enjoy. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2(!) swimming pools to enjoy, very good and quiet AC in the rooms, cleaning every day, good breakfast. And you haven’t enjoyed the full package if you didn’t have an evening meal at the Casa: absolutely wonderful!
We had hoped the vineyard would be up and running, but this will take another 1-2 years. We will definitely come back for a tasting!
The bar at the pool is a new service. Absolutely welcome and friendly priced. But you can notice it needs a bit of a promotion to it. It is not very much used, although it is very good. Maybe a happy hour or something like it would spice it up.
You can both hardly call ‘weak spots’.
