About this cabin rental
BE SURE TO INQUIRE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO BOOK! Sometimes we have minimum stays, and other times we don't. Many of our guests covet the unique experience that only we can provide. HERE'S WHY OUR PLACE is so SPECIAL: Different from typical 'condos' where you are surrounded by noisy tourists, parking lots and cars, our Historic cabin is one of the first and only remaining original ski cabins in Vail, dating back to the inception of the resort in the early 1960's. With spectacular one of a kind scenery and very secluded, surrounded by protected undevelopable lands, it is not at all uncommon to see wildlife right from our windows/deck. While MOST places these days seem to advertise pictures of views from 'nearby', ALL of our images are taken right from the deck or windows of our home on our acre of land that is surrounded by Forest Service open space. And to be honest, most people say our pictures don't even do our views and privacy justice (check out the reviews where guests have actually said just that in the review!!). Meanwhile and amazingly, our half-duplex is RIGHT IN East Vail, just a few steps from the FREE Town of Vail shuttle bus to the ski slopes and chairlifts or shops and dining. The free shuttle bus is only a short walk, and the bus ride itself only takes about 10 minutes. If you'd rather drive than take free public transit, we are just 5 MINUTES from the slopes. We offer full kitchen, living room with recliner, t.v., dvd, dining area, large deck, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and wood burning fireplace and the BEST, most secluded VIEWS in Vail. Our location has also been renown by our guests and Vail locals for its amazing access to fantastic cross country skiing, hiking, ice climbing, bike path and mountain biking as well as RIGHT FROM OUR FRONT DOOR! With private access to forest service lands, while still RIGHT in town just a few steps from the bus shuttle. Questions about our one-of-a-kind Vail cabin? Shoot us an email and I'll get right back to you! NOTE: There are about 10 relatively gentle (not steep) stairs to access the front door coming down from the driveway. We offer some of the MOST REASONABLE RATES in Vail while still providing the most cozy, secluded and spectacular of locations!!
Also, please email us about availability. SOMETIMES WE HAVE MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS, other times, we might be able to accommodate a short stay, so, ALWAYS INQUIRE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO BOOK WITH US!! We have security cameras OUTSIDE. NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 6 YEARS OLD. NO PARTIES OR DRUGS OR EXCESSIVE DRINKING!!! NO FULL SEASON RENTALS AVAILABLE PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE IF YOU NEED A FULL SEASON!! Generally, longest stay allowable is 2 to 3 WEEKS maximum during the ski or summer tourist season. Exceptions might be possible, especially during the April-May or October-November time frames for this maximum stay length. PETS: be sure to COMMUNICATE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT BRINGING YOUR PETS. Common question ABOUT ACCESS--4x4 is recommended in winter (throughout Colorado), but NOT NECESSARILY required for access. Town of Vail maintains our road, but we DO NOT have daily snow removal from our driveway or walkways and we are NOT ADA accessible!! We look forward to providing our WONDERFUL AND AFFORDABLE CABIN to you on your next trip to VAIL!

This is a very nice little place to rest after busy fun day in vail and watch sunrise over beautiful mountains. Bring your own towels because the provided towels are pretty ruggedy. Bring allergy medicine if you’re allergic to pets because it’s pet friendly you can definitely feel it if you’re sensitive like me. Bring your coffee and whatever else to stunning views and sound of the river. We had a nice time. Definitely recommend it.

This little, charming cabin reminded me of staying in the mountains in my childhood. It is lovely and quiet. We really enjoyed the view!!!

My family and I loved the place. The view from the cabin is amazing.

Hearing & sitting on deck by river wonderful. Could be even better by better chairs . Only way to have 4-6 people with the one bath is if small children or young adults . lol ! Perfect for the 2 of us.

Came to participate in the GoPro Games. It was quiet and close to the competition. I have no complaints. Loved my river view.

This what the perfect space for our family. Great location and easy to communicate with the owner. Affordable with a good kitchen set up for making dinner at home. Thanks Peter!

We enjoyed our stay. We loved that Vail Village was only a 10 minute shuttle from the rental. The shuttle station pick up location is a quick walk from the rental. The hosts were also very responsive during the stay!

We enjoyed our time at this cabin. It was a great home base for us while visiting family. Very comfortable and accommodating. Plenty of beautiful sites so close to the cabin to explore. Definitely planning to book again!

Budget friendly accommodation in Vail. Location is perfect. If you are picky about bedding and modern decor this is not the cabin for you. If you want a great deal in a beautiful secluded spot close to trail that leads all way to vail and aren’t too fussy about decor then this is a great find.
We thoroughly enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit (1981) edition with our 20 year old son!! He didn’t stand a chance!! Games and puzzles provided by host.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely be back in Dec if cabin were not already fully booked!!

We had a good stay. The shower was a disaster with very little hot water. The availability of comfortable seating was poor. The view from the deck was great.

What you see is what you get! This is a one of a kind property which fit our needs perfectly. We had a wonderful relaxing stay to enjoy the Vail region, as well as providing us a “home base” to visit our son during his days off from work in the village. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Buddy and I stayed for 4 nights while out skiing at beaver creek and vail. This cabin was perfect for what we needed. Close to bus stop for vail yet tucked away giving you the feel you are in a secluded part of the mountains. Cooked breakfast each morning and had a fire each night while we recovered from the skiing. Will be staying again.

I really enjoyed my stay. The shuttle into town is a short walk away. Communication with the host was easy. Thanks!

Loved staying at this quant listing in Vail, CO. My family and I wanted to have somewhere where we could lay our heads, after some long but fun days out on the slopes. This listing was perfect for that!
Pros:
-Had everything we needed
-Owners were diligent about vital information ie. bus schedules, directions, and information about the home.
-Close proximity to Vail
-Quick response times with the owners
-In a beautiful neighborhood
-FIREPLACE
Cons:
-Some items we wished that could have been provided on arrival ie. pillow cases and wood
-Some items were not on par with our standards of cleanliness ie. Dishes, pans, couch, blankets, and refrigerator.
Overall great stay and if we were to come back we would stay again!

The photos on the listing don’t do the property justice. It’s such a beautiful home and location with easy access to vail. There are two water falls you can walk to from the home and they are worth the hike.

I wouldn't be surprised if I find myself here again in a few months when I want another weekend away. <3

Nice historical cabin, close to town. But seams so secluded. Creak water running made for a great sound. Lots to do in area. Cabin was cozy

Property was as presented. This is a family duplex, not a luxury accommodation. Million dollar view of Gore Creek and quiet. Comfortable bed. Would love to stay again.

Had a great time in the Vail area ! Close to the Ford park was really nice. Easy to get on and off freeways. Great little place.

Cute cabin with a wonderful view!
My girlfriends & I stayed at Peter's cabin for the duration of our ski trip! We had a wonderful time, and felt safe at the property. The view from the porch is absolutely wonderful! There are other properties around the area, but it still has a quiet, cozy, secluded feel to it! We used the shuttle to ski at Vail, which was SO nice because you don't have to worry about parking!!! The shuttle stop is only a block away, and it does run until 2am so you could also use it to get dinner or go out for drinks in Vail without worrying about how to get home! Peter was very reachable via email, and was professional & kind! The location of the cabin is really great, situated in East Vail you are only a few minutes from the base of the mountain, and only 40 minutes from Breck & Keystone as well. Beaver Creek is also very close, about 15 minutes. It was exactly what my girlfriends & I were looking for. The cabin itself is quaint and reminded me of my grandparents house, which made me feel at-home & welcomed. I would stay again!

Where to begin. First off, the property is listed that it sleeps 6 people and we had five. So after I book the place, he sends an email saying this property is for 4 people and charges a $150 additional guest fee, without me having any knowledge of it prior. Even before I booked the place we were in contact and I told him we had 5. He didn’t have any problem with it, as he shouldn’t since his place is listed to sleep 6! Then, five days before our check in date, he says he will send a separate email with remaining details. He didn’t end up sending it until 4 hours before checking in. It had important information that would’ve been nice to know before hand such as telling us there’s only ONE parking space… as we’re already 10 hours into our trip in two vehicles.
Fortunately, we made both our vehicles fit at the cost of blocking the other entrance to the DUPLEX. He describes it as a secluded cabin but it is in fact a duplex and you’ll most likely have people living below you. Once we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the trash bin outside was full and overfilling with trash. So we got to drive our trash 15 min to west vail to dump at a subway (his recommendation). The owner also only provided us with 3 towels when we had 5 guests. Some of us brought our own but it’s still inconsiderate. I highly recommend cleaning the dishes before you use them and I also suggest a table cloth for the sticky table. There was also rotten fruit left in the refrigerator which smelled great. Although we weren’t happy with the place or the owner, we took care of it as if it were our own home and checked out with no damages.
That was until 3 days after we checked out that he tells me we broke the coat rack. This coat rack wasn’t used for anything besides hanging the key that he provided on. His claims and the picture he sent is ridiculous. It looked like it completely snapped off the wall, which I think we would be aware of something like that. Now he’s charging $55 for damages we did not do. He will scam you any way possible. DO NOT STAY HERE.

We loved our stay in Peter’s family cabin. We’re from the mountains and have lived in a cabin just like this! It was convenient and cozy. One note, use frontage road coming home from Vail if it’s snowing to avoid the Denver traffic heading back up the summit.

We were looking for something quiet and secluded. This was not exactly secluded - there are several houses around - but the owner was upfront about that. We were also not expecting this to be a DUPLEX so just be aware of that. There did not seem to be any tenants next door, so it was still very quiet during the day when we had to work from the cabin.
The property is stunning. It is truly on the creek, just a few steps to a short trail. We would stay again for the location alone.
The furnishings are not new. The bed linens are ancient, the futon has a couple small holes in the overlay blanket, the shower curtain could stand to be replaced. However, everything was CLEAN. I am really focused on the cleanliness of our stays and this one was tidy as it could be, given the age of the furnishings, appliances, and duplex itself. With prices the way they are in Vail, this is a good deal. We would stay again.

The place was filthy. Hair in/around bathtub.
Stinky towels and bedding. Countertops and dining table sticky. Dirty dishes in dishwasher.
Futon so dirty we covered it with a blanket to sit on it. DVD remote not working. TV remote batteries almost dead. Don't be fooled by just the pictures of the view. Furthermore the owner is threatening to charge me additional $ for broken wine glasses and damage to the grill!!!
Neither of this happened! There was one wine glass in the entire kitchen, whuch we hand washed and left on the counter. I did not even touch the grill! I suspect this damage was done by the previous guest, as obviously no one had been there to clean before we arrived!

Overall this cabin was just as advertised. Can't beat the price for a place that is 5 minutes from the ski resort. Communication was easy, and the cabin was quite cozy. The fireplace was great, we brought our own wood and there was a cool trail behind the property. We will be returning next time we have a Vail getaway planned!
