Excellent japanese style Hotel with friendly staff. We arrived to Kurokawa by bus, were contacted by the Hotel well before hand, and Hotel staff was waiting for us to take our luggage to the Hotel for us by car. We also got a ride to the bus after check-out.
Not all of the staff was fluent in english but they were eager to help whenever needed. Onsen pass can be purchased from the Hotel lobby and they can give recommentations of nearby onsens.
The hotel's own onsen was really nice, including both in- and -out-door baths and a cold bath for cooling off especially after sauna. In February we enjoyed onsen with light snow. During summer or autumn, the scenery is surely even more stunning. In addition to men's/women's baths, the Hotel has three small private/family onsen baths that can be reserved from the lobby even in the early morning hours.
Sauna in the onsen smelled a pit feird. That is, said by a Finn - but onsens are the THING here.
Really good breakfast and dinner!
The room had plenty of space and a really nice atmosphere.

We slept in a room with a private bath, the views to the river from the balcony were fantastic. The hotel has a beautiful Japanese design, the dinner was one of the best we had in Japan. Everything was perfect.
The hotel’s location is a bit outside of Kurokawa center, but still reachable by walk or by 5 min drive.

Very nice and large outdoor bath. Fancy Kaiseki meal course in the room. Friendly and helpful staffs except the one who can speak English.
Quite far from the village center. We walked to the river to see lantern at night but staff could not explain the direction so we try google maps but it lead us to main road which was quite dangerous at night.

Staff are nice and helpful.
I do have a relax and enjoyable trip when I stayed there! There’s not nearby restaurants or convenient store like 7-11, Lawson. Super recommend to stay here with dinner & breakfast too, that make me feel a perfect day.

Excellent meal and service. Recommend to use family bath!
We had dinner at room. The food itself was great but the room was full of cooking smells for a long time even until we fell asleep. Rather to have dinner ouotside the room.

Food was amazing, space was spacious and beautiful. Private baths were relaxing. Dinner and breakfast service staff were wonderful.
On checking in, the front desk person was rude. Mentioned that his staff does not speak English well which is fine but says “you’re in Japan, you should speak Japanese” (twice!!) and not in a friendly manner. He should not be in hospitality and certainly doesn’t represent the many polite, friendly Japanese that we’ve met. Interaction with him was very upsetting and frustrating.

The private onsen connected to the room was magnificent as well as the onsen for hotel guests.

All the staff are friendly and helpful. There seems to be very good communication between the staff: the front knew we speak only a little Japanese and somehow the breakfast staff in the morning knew too. We were thoroughly impressed with the hospitality throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and clean, and the onsen was lovely.
Nothing. Everything was perfect!
