A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Superb & quiet location, very close to amenities such as shops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs & a National Trust property is within walking distance. Kirkcudbright is such an interesting town & we will revisit in future.

Nothing!..... although a decent working tin opener in kitchen would've been good - we borrowed one from lovely neighbours next door which wasn't a problem :-)

A good base for our explorations of the area.

Providence Cottage was great for us for four nights in the first week of Aug 2023 when the weather wasn't brilliant. It was spotlessly clean and in the kitchen I found all I needed for cooking purposes. The bed was very comfortable and as there were only two of us I enjoyed having the other double room as a dressing room. The bathroom was spacious with a heated towel rail. We were lucky and could usually park very close to the house.

My husband would have liked a more comfortable sofa. I would have liked a washing machine. The details don't list one but if one were staying there for a week or more a trip to the launderette wouldn't be ideal. I did a tiny amount of hand washing to get by. Also, it should be made clear, that there is no outside area at all. This wasn't a problem as the weather wasn't conducive to sitting out but just so you're aware. I also should say that the house gets very very warm even in a wet summer and some of the windows cannot be opened and they are painted shut. What makes it feel even hotter is that downstairs you can't readily see out as the bottom half of the sash windows are frosted.

An excellent place to stay in Kirkcudbright!

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for four days. Ian and Louise have ensured that the cottage has everything you need, is cosy, and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the extra sitting area on the top floor (attic) with views of the castle and tollbooth.

Providence Cottage has a great location - street side and quiet and we really enjoyed our time there. It doesn't have any outside space. Not an issue in Autumn / Winter but in Summer, it could be.

Everything. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. It is an exceptionally comfortable place to stay, with everything you could wish for to make a great holiday. The owners have obviously taken great care to make it such a welcoming place to stay.

An absolutely superb cottage in an excellent location

Providence Cottage is excellently located within Kirkcudbright, near all the amenities and places of interest. It's been renovated to an extremely high standard with spacious rooms, good-quality furniture and fine decor. The kitchen is well-equipped with matching crockery, cutlery and utensils. Everything about the place has a feeling of quality and that the owners CARE. No corners have been cut! The top room up the spiral staircase is easily accessible - even for the likes of me, and I'm 6ft 7in tall - and would be a very exciting 'secret room' for children. The heating is toasty-warm when required and the water good and hot. I hope to return to Kirkcudbright and it would be MAD not to make Providence Cottage my first choice for where to stay. The best UK holiday cottage or apartment I've ever stayed in.

Very cosy and comfortable house to spend a short winter break, in a historical and interesting town.

Very comfortable holiday cottage, tastefully and artistically decorated. Very well provisioned kitchen. Plenty of local information available, maps, books, DVDs and board games available. Characteristic attic room to relax in. Centrally located in quiet historic part of town.

Only thing was need for some blackout blinds or curtains in bedrooms to make rooms darker, as there are street lights outside.

Lovely little house

Location excellent and house very well equipped if you need to cook. It was also spotless.

We had ni dislikes at all. Only little issue was the lock on the front door was a bit temperamental.

wonderful cottage, clean, tidy, plenty of room, lovely decor, kitted out with everything you need. Close to the centre of a beautiful town, but so quiet & peaceful. Plenty of great places to eat & drink right on the doorstep, plus great walks, scenery & galleries.

A quiet and peaceful stay in an excellent location.

The property was clean tidy and well thought out. it was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The kitchen had good quality cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment. There was cleaning equipment, tea towels, oven gloves etc. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. I couldn’t fault the property in any way.

A real gem in a delightful town

A very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated cottage in a central, but quiet, location, with ample on street parking directly outside. Highly recommend. We'll be back!

Stunning, comfortable, well equipped cottage.

It was beautiful and quirky with the surprise extra lounge room at the top. I loved all the finishing touches. whole property so well preoared for guests. cute little town within walking distance. owners so helpful, made a twin room into a king size. perfect! Well equipped kitchen - we love to cook when we're away. Really enjoyed our stay.

There wasn't anything that stood out that we didn't like.

Paintings and sculptures so interesting, an art house with secret attic snug, central, arty comfort

Location, art work, decor, attic room potential for using in warmer weather, comfy high backed wing armchair

low back of settee, not useable with comfort for us older and taller people, but wing tall backed armchairs excellent.

The house was beautifully decorated, very well-equipped. Everything you need for a holiday.

Nothing really.if I was being really picky i would say a more modern smart tv so you can access your own amazon/Netflix accounts. But really this is not something I look for when booking a property.
