Disapointing.

it’s a beautiful location and lovely building. We slept well.

Our room was cold on arrival but did warm up; the sloping roof meant you could not sit up in bed and the room for 4 had only one chair; the TV in the room had zero channels working. the vege breakfast was poor and the vege sausages inedible.

It was nice but may look for another one next time

The bathroom was very nice, shower nice and hot. Beds were comfy

Luke warm bath water, single beds pushed together with no clips to keep them together. The room door didn’t lock. After ringing to ask about breakfast to be told continental the day before we arrived on the day we were told it wasn’t included and the price if we did want it was high. Didn’t like there wasn’t a chef onsite and food was to be pre booked. The reception area smelt of smoke and the guy who greeted us could have looked tidier.

Overall for the one night stay was good

Location and plenty of parking and very clean

Except for check in didn’t see any staff. Breakfast was self service… deffo need better tea bags or more choice for tea…. It was a machine and more suitable for coffees

Would stay here again, but probably would ask for a room at the back of the hotel

Room was very well served, bathroom was exceptional. My only complaint was the bed, although huge, was very low to the ground so not ideal if you have problems getting in and out of bed.

The bed - too low Our room was at the front of the hotel and it is situated on a fairly busy road; had to have windows open as rather warm, but it did get noisy.

Ideal for our 1 night stay.

Location of bedroom especially having a room at the back of the hotel, as main road quite busy. Bathroom very good standard.

The main bedroom was a little on the small side but comfortable and clean. First impression not good as the key card had an old sticker on and looked very grubby. Did not have breakfast as seemed quite expensive.

It was a lovely stay here, dinner and breakfast was great. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms were big, fabulous bath kids could nearly swim in it.

Excellent spot between Mstlock & Matlock Bath

Just what we needed as we drove back from the Lake District & stayed Matlock the night to break the journey up. We live in Essex. Very relaxing there. Staff lovely. We had continental breakfast. All we needed. Would def book again as it’s near The Heights of Abraham. Didn’t have time to pursue it today. Had a meal @ Thai No.1., Matlock. Yummy meal @ staff very attentive.

In need of updating - could not use fire escape from bathroom as you were unable to open velux window as it was obstructed by the shower cubicle!!

Very good location between Matlock and Matlock Bath. About 10 minutes walk to both.

Pleasant people, nice family run hotel, easy parking

No Air conditioning . Breakfast charge seemed extremely excessive so we didn’t bother . Lots of outside places .

Great hotel, fantastic value

Lovely little hotel, great location only a few minutes walk from Matlock. Our room was upgraded on arrival and the facilities were really good. Breakfast was continental only included but had a good selection. Great value for money.

None of soap dispensers seem to work, tv had really bad signal, beds have waterproof mattress protectors on which makes them uncomfortable

This was a very clean hotel,location perfect and will definitely be returning.

Clean and good location

The room was very cold on arrival and no blinds on the window but rectified straight away and was very apologetic about this.

Hotel good, room way too small.

The ground floor restaurant and bar were good

I was given a loft room which was so small you could barely walk around the bed. I would expect and accept this for low cost digs, but this is a hotel charging hotel room rates. Friends were in a normal room below me and that was Ok.

Good shower.Spotless bedding and towels.Excellent Continental breakfast.Chcie of fruit juices, cereals, yogurt,bread ,croissants and jam etc.Constantly replenished so no shortage. .

As noted earlier, definitely a bit tired and needing some TLC.

Overpriced for the service and standard.

The bedroom was spacious.

The bathroom was nicely decorated, however hadn't been cleaned properly for a while, the anex window had a shelf area and had dirt and old dirty shampoo and shower gel bottles left on there. When we checked in at 6pm we were asked if we were eating to which we replied we may be, we had family coming to see us at the hotel. Once in the bar area after we went to order food and was informed that the chef had gone for the day, then the table next to us got a 3 course meal about 20 minutes after? Breakfast was busy and we had one small pot of tea between 4 and no offers for any more, the coffee machine was out of order and it could do with some decorating. For the name location and price the hotel was a disappointment.

Good hotel ,nice staff.

Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Furniture in the room is has seen better days ,the circular bed frame is not good and would be better being replaced by a bigger double ,room was not made up on a daily basis so coffee , milk etc not replenished.

The location of the hotel was lovely

Hotel is run down, lack of attention to detail, not very clean - cobwebs & dust throughout the room. Bed wheel broken causing the bed to be uneven & unsteady.

A very enjoyable stay.

Very pleasant staff. Nice room and bathroom. Would've been nice to open the window but the room temperature was pleasant and fans/heaters were available if required. Good location for the town. We had a nice curry in the restaurant and made use of happy hour. Drinks are generally expensive in all the venues in town.

The continental breakfast was a bit basic but adequate.

We only saw one member of staff and he was very friendly and helpful. Nice big room for our group of 4. Good value for money.

Enjoyed our five days, would come back if visiting Matlock again.

Bed was soft enough to be comfortable. Bathroom had instant hot water. Breakfast was good, well worth paying the extra to include a cooked meal; excellent toasters to do the toast perfectly; appreciated the fact that the gluten free requirement was met well.

Some of the furnishings in the bedroom had seen better days, but were still o.k.

Lovely possibility but failed to deliver by quite a way.

Lovely looking building, impressive bedroom and bathroom. Good location.

The whole place was very cold, staff serving meals and breakfast in coats. Service very slow and food could be a lot better. Extra £9 for cooked breakfast, expected more than a luke warm fried breakfast. No fruit juice until you asked and coffee and tea from a machine served in paper cups. Ate in the restaurant at night, steak like shoe leather unfortunately. Disappointed for the cost.
