Will tell people not to book on this site at all
They don’t care if you check in or not

I stayed in The 'Office.' For just me, the loft was great and I loved that the couch could convert to a bed. Be sure to bring hangers for your clothes! They really let you make yourself at home. Don't be shy and really make use of common areas. The local businesses are very friendly and there are some beautiful art galleries within walking distance as well. Lots to preoccupy yourself with if you are alone.
Make sure to follow the instructions in any emails they send you so that you do not disturb anyone else staying there. Upon arrival, I went to the front door instead of the back door like it said in the email and it caused a bit of conflict with someone. As long as everyone is considerate, respectful and picks up after themselves, The Madison is a very lovely, peaceful stay that I would recommend anyone, especially solo travelers.

Check in was easy
No reply when I contacted them with questions, lots of noise from the hall and other rooms, steep cleaning fee

Nothing. I could not get in my room.
I could not get in my room. The code I was given did not work. No one answered the phone number I called and no one identified themselves as someone who could help me. I had to leave and get other accommodations. I would like a refund. It was horrible.

We left because we did not receive the room as promised.
My boyfriend and I arrived and were directed via email using a self check in process to a room that was not what we had reserved. We reserved a "Budget Twin Room" which (despite the name) was listed as having a double bed and fitting two guests. The room we were assigned was tiny (I don't think it would have even fit a double bed), and had a single air mattress on the floor, and somebody's bicycle taking up the rest of the room. The door was unlocked and open when we arrived. This was not as advertised (this room was definitely not in the photos), and was definitely not worth the $209 we paid for the night. In addition, the welcome email we got really turned us off as it was a list of ridiculous "house rules" that each incurred at least a $200 fine up to $1000 fine. We did not want to stay on the property in that room on an air mattress that didn't even fit us and we contacted the Madison House to request a full refund considering this was not as advertised. We got a full suite at a very nice hotel 10 min away for the same cost for the night instead. We received confirmation that this was their fault (evidently we were assigned the wrong room?) but I have yet to receive a refund (5 days after our reservation).

Very chill stay, felt right at home in my own room and safe. The common areas were nicely done.
Bed was not that comfortable as it was very firm. I would recommend you bring an extra pillow if you’re staying with some else.

Location and price
Sharing rooms with other in the same kitchen.
The kitchen was full of dirty dishes from other people.
Not much privacy

The bed was comfortable. It isn't far from downtown, about a $7 Lyft ride. Some good coffee shops nearby and a few churches. I liked that we had codes for the house.
There were some questionable characters staying there..I saw a mouse in my room. One couple left the kitchen a mess each night. The walls are thin. You could here conversations. I would recommend if you are going to stay here, make sure you have 1 other person with you. Also, there is construction going on inside the house. Parts are not done and need work. Someone left the backdoor open and the cops showed up. We weren't given the code to deactivate the alarm.

This place is a total SCAM! It was the worst “hotel” ever.
The place doesn’t look like the real pictures and it smells like cigarettes. It’s not a comfortable, friendly or nice environment. It actually looks like a house of drug addicted.
The neighborhood is very shady and the house looks really old.
There was no parking available in the back of the house because it was full of snow. No parking in the street either.
Even though everything looked weird at a first glance, I went inside to check it out.
There was a guy laying down on the couch in the “entrance/ lobby/ living room”. (?)
I went to my reserved room and the floor was dirty (even tough the charge a cleaning fee).
I couldn’t stay at that place by any circumstances.
I left and had to book another place last minute.
Booking.com shouldn’t allow this place to be available as a hotel.

Although there were no rooms with a private bathroom, the room we stayed in was more than comfortable, it made me forget all of my worries & I was completely relaxed & felt refreshed each & every morning I opened my eyes when I was there. The staff on premises was more than helpful, courteous & friendly & made us feel at home almost immediately. What a superb & memorable experience, definitely hope Madison House is around next time I have several days to do what I want. Without a doubt there is where I want to spend them.
Some of the other guests didn't clean up after themselves too well. Other than that, there wasn't too much that we didn't like about the place.

location. free parking. bed comfortable. kitchen looked well equipped but I personally didn’t use. Had 2 fridges- didn’t use but looked nice. Shared Bathrooms were clean and had toilet paper and paper towels/soap to wash hands. Shared bathroom shower had good water pressure.
customer service of Tanner. When I first arrived he was sleeping on couch in living room and with repeated calls and texts I sat outside for over 20 minutes. Finally another tenant let me in after waking him on the couch just across the windows from me. He never did give me the code so the second day when I got back from my work I tried calling to get in- again no answer. Finally another tenant leaving let me in.
Also the sheets had small black hairs when I threw back to get into bed and he then offered me a lint roller at first. After stating that wouldn’t work I got a full set of sheets to put on a Queen bed.
I stayed in room 1 off the kitchen. There must be a bathroom right above this room it because in the middle of the night I woke to water dripping on my head. water must have overflowed from something and it leaked through the ceiling.
I have mild asthma and all the glade plug-ins everywhere were also hard on my breathing.

Stephanie was friendly
I had to ring the doorbell twice before it was answered, even though i gave an accurate check in time and update before arriving. My room wasn’t ready when I arrived so I spent 15 minutes sitting in the living room with a big loud tv after a very long day when all I wanted was a bed.
*I didn’t see anyone wearing a mask at all.*
The place was kinda weird and janky! Definitely in the middle of renovations but my bedroom door was very crooked, which let in a lot of light, especially when people used the bathroom, which was right next to my room. The smell of air fresheners was so strong the back of my throat hurt. I slept very poorly after a long day when all I needed was a good night’s sleep

What I liked were the people. I think that’s where the high ratings are coming from. It’s certainly not the facility nor management.
Where do I start? I had come to Minneapolis to pay my respects to George Floyd. As an African American, it was already such a painful experience in the aftermath of things and the ongoing fight against injustice. I had driven over 1,000 to to do it. Stephanie is the worst manager of all establishments I’ve ever visited. When I arrived, I received only one towel. No face towel. And I didn’t receive it when I got there. I received it SIX hours later, ONLY after sending a reminder that I didn’t have it. Two days later, I asked for another one and it took over an hour to receive it (mind you, she lives INSIDE the house). I asked for a smaller towel and was told that’s all she had. Contacted the owner of the house, via Booking, and he gave every single bullet point of the personality of a racist. To name a few, 1). Gaslighting (Stephanie normally receives high ratings, so it must be ME), 2). She was actually “doing you a favor” by giving you a second towel. Guests normally receive only ONE (yeah, I know) 3). Even though dealing with Stephanie was like pulling teeth (on top of racist undertones), the owner yet saw my complaint as invisible. (I’d met him when I first got there, so he was aware of who I was). You experience racism with the in-house manager, then the owner is equally/more racist in an establishment where you’ve spent your money to pay respects to the black and brown people dying at disproportions rates just to be gaslighted. The place is not as advertised. Not as clean as it looks. Rooms are much smaller than they look. And the Energy is just...off. This isn’t a place I would ever book again. I hope you choose a place free of RACISM with a management team who actually listens to customers and CHOOSES to see how they racialist black and brown bodies. There’s too much love right now in the works for this type of blatant ignorance.
