Horrible experience
Nothing!! I did not stayed at the cabin because there was no one there.
Owner contacted me 10 mi. Before arriving to cabin and referred me to another hotel. I got a small room with no breakfast and owner wanted me to pay what I had arrange with booking. I did not get what I had sign up for and was expected to pay the agreed amount thru booking.

Pleasant
This was a single night brief stop off for us. Lolita was very friendly despite our limited Spanish and her English we managed OK. Accommodation is really really basic and functional we got a bed for the night toilet sink ( didn't use shower too cold) . Breakfast was all home made in front of us as Lolitas kitchen dining area is separate to sleeping block. She was brilliant at trying to meet our hot water and milk needs for tea. Cooked us dinner in the evening and kept checking in that we were OK. We emailed night before arriving on El Chepe and she came down and picked us up. Also arranged a very nice horse ride for me the next day at half the price I expect other class hotels in area would charge . Horses appeared at prearranged time as requested
Probably was a bit more basic than I had expected so dont have any great expectations and if need a one night functional cheap space in a very tourist area with a friendly helpful owner this OK.

Why does this place get such good reviews?! It's truly awful. 3rd world. I was glad when I left.
Nothing. I knew I made a mistake as soon as I arrived.
Well, where do I start? This place is awful. The man didn't pick me up from the station as promised, the women wasn't expecting me and couldn't find my reservation in her book. The next day, the man dropped me off at the Barrancas del Cobre Adventure Park and said nothing about getting back, drove off, and I was left to hitchhike back later that day! Dreadful! There is a total lack of care for the guests. The front garden looks like a junk yard. Full of broken down cars, rusty metal junk and wandering dogs. There is no TV in the rooms, and nothing to do when it gets dark. The family sit around the fire in the lounge, and forget that their guests may need some heat too!! Breakfast was OK, but the evening "meal" was 2 dry tortillas with grisly chewy meat in.and they charged me 150 Mexican pesos (US$6) for that!! But there is nowhere else to go! No bottled water or Coke to buy, so bring your own! It was freezing cold (minus 3 degrees C) at night in January. I had 3 blankets on my bed, but it wasn't enough and I had to get the other 3 blankets off the next bed. There was a gas fire in the room, but I didn't dare use it. No-one offered to light it for me anyway! No English spoken, and no menu for breakfast or dinner, which would be better than the woman just looking sadly at you as if to say What do you want? (Well, I don't know, what do you have!? Get a menu printed up!) The bathrooms are truly shocking and look like something from a prison. The whole place is dilapidated, falling down and really the rooms need to be rebuilt, the shower screen was a sheet of hard plastic with broken cracked holes in! The sink was dirty. A wooden bench outside my room had a broken leg, and this was repaired by putting a pile of wood and a log underneath it. The place needs work, but the family don't seem to care enough to do it. Sad. And it's not cheap either. But I wish I'd stayed elsewhere, even if I had to pay double what I paid here.

Adventure at its best. An inexpensive price for the area. Just a great b&b style hotel .
The best people run this place. So friendly, and with the best kind of backwoods class. They gave a ride to and from the el chepe. It’s about a forty minute walk to the edge of the canyon and the adventure park through the cool town of areponopuchi.

Nice hotel with friendly staff, few communication improvement would be nice.
The staff is very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. Very nice food during breakfast and dinner.
There is not so much to do in Areponuchi. The shower could have been warmer. Also, we did not appreciate the communication in regards to additional fees. The staff is very friendly and offered us a few times to give us a ride. However, without mentioning that they are expecting a charge for it, and only asked us once the ride was over. More transparency would be nice in that regard. Finally, they did not do dinner one evening (which is of course fine), however they did not inform us where else we could have dinner. So we started to look for a restaurant for 30minutes under the rain.
