Our family of 7 adults and our 8 month old granddaughter had an amazing week at this beautiful property. The upper porch is amazing! The dock has beautiful views with clear deep water for swimming. The kayaks and paddle board were a nice amenity along with the ping pong table providing entertainment for all. We hope to return soon.

My family and I loved our week at Mountain View Cove. The house was great in so many ways. There were ample areas for gathering and it was beautifully furnished. The well-stocked kitchen never failed us when we were preparing meals. Everyone enjoyed the dock for fishing, swimming and kayaking. And the views from both the house and lake were spectacular! A perfect lake vacation!

This week we had the best time we’ve ever had at the lake! Four generations of love and laughter- the house was perfect in every way. The owners were super nice and responsive and the house met every expectation. You can tell a lot of thought was put into this property to make it feel like home away from home. Excellent place - would love to stay again soon!

We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect for our two families to come together, there was plenty of room. We had kids from 2-5, one teenager, and a few adults we all equally enjoyed our time and never ran out of things to do. We rented a boat from near by and my husband had no problems finding the house and docking the boat. The house had just about everything we needed, which was good because any kind of store was atleast 20mins away. It was beautiful, big, spotless, in the perfect location and we will be returning!

Adults (6) and children (2) had a great time on the property and the water. We came down from Massachusetts for my daughter-in-law's graduation at Liberty U. We traveled back and forth (between Lib U and the rental house) several times. The drives were extremely scenic but the house and the lake made it worthwhile on their own. Would do it again.

Property location and amenities were fantastic for a week away with family and friends. Super relaxing and a ton of fun. Ability to relax of the dock, paddleboard, kayak and even bring in a boat and jet skis made it perfect. Quiet cove near the dam avoids the congestion of some other parts of the lake. Would definitely recommend!! Owner's were very responsive to questions and had even made some improvements after we booked. The new deck with cover was fabulous for eating or just relaxing.

My family had a wonderful week at this house. Had everything you needed plus more—lots of towels, water toys, paper goods, games and even had suntan lotion and face wipes. Kitchen had lots of pots, bakeware and small appliances. short walk from house to dock, great view, lots of seating at the dock and deck with covered roof, lights and fan, and also had open area to relax in the sun. Had one day of rain and enjoyed playing games and ping pong, Cheryl was quick to respond to questions/issues (very minor). We will definitely be back next year.

We had a great stay. It was a hot week so when we weren’t on the water, in the shade at the dock, we were in the beautiful covered porch.

This rental was very clean and inviting. Despite the fact that we were there on a mostly chilly, rainy long weekend. We were able to take full advantage of the house. Plenty of room for puzzling, reading, gaming, movies family dinners, etc with two or three of the above going on at any given time.
When the weather allowed, we loved to sitting on the dock. Went kayaking. And we're very grateful for the covered deck which allowed us to sit outside even when it was raining and enjoy the beautiful view.
Cheryl was great to work with. She answered my questions promptly. And they provided one of the best equipped kitchens we've ever rented. Thank you so much!

Total crowd pleaser! Cheryl was an amazing host, and the house was immaculate. We had two families with kids ranging from 1-13, and it was perfect fit for everyone. Kitchen was very well setup for meals at home and the kids had a great space to hang out! The lake was beautiful and it’s 100% a repeat trip!

We spent a week with 2 families with teenagers and there was room and things to do for everyone. The house is very clean and the kitchen is very well stocked with equipment and gadgets especially for a rental property. Kayaks and paddle board were popular with our group. Very easy walk/steps down to the dock. The dock was spacious and plenty of chairs for our group. Parking/driveway was spacious. We had a great time and would definitely rent here again!

Perfect family lake front get-away at Smith Mt. Lake
Perfect property for a family vacation on Smith Mt. Lake!! Cheryl & Rick are excellent communicators, from time of booking throughout the entire stay they were quick to respond to all questions. Check in process was easy. The home and property was very clean and overall, well maintained. The welcome bag with treats was a nice touch! Us two parents, our three adult children and a friend all had comfortable beds. The large open kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals together with nice space to work in. They even had baskets with sugar and creamer packets for the morning coffee. The main living area is open (kitchen to dining to living room) which works really well for a group. The downstairs rec room is large with plenty of seating to watch movies on the large TV. The screened-in porch has comfortable seating and even a wall mounted oscillating fan to cool off. The deck furniture is also comfortable with a lot of room to spread out, plus a wonderful view. The dock has plenty of space with six Adirondack chairs, two with footrests... very comfortable, plus a great view of Smith Mountain! We all enjoyed the kayaks, paddle board, and swimming in the deep water off the dock. The dock had plenty of tie ups and made it easy to dock and launch my 14ft aluminum canoe. This is a great area of the lake for paddling; tends to be quieter, plenty of inlets to explore plus the natural areas adjacent to the mountain and the views are fantastic. This location requires a bit of a drive to get to restaurants, stores, etc. but the trade off for the quiet and views is well worth it! Thank you for opening your great lake property Cheryl & Rick, we hope to return!

Family Vacation
Our family of 5 adults and three children loved our week at this house. It is located on a beautiful cove with a wonderful view of the mountain. We made good use of the kayaks and the paddle board and had a wonderful time. Our week was hot, so it was great for swimming, but we also enjoyed the screen porch with the fan when we weren’t in the water. The house was clean, the beds and furniture comfortable, and Cheryl was very helpful and responsive. This was a great VRBO experience!

Fall Getaway
We take yearly trip with friends and decided to head to SML. We absolutely loved this house and it was a great fit for the 6 of us. We were missing the two oldest kids this year and there would have been plenty of room for the 8 of us. We loved everything about this house, all the windows and the view of the water. The location on the lake was great and the boys enjoyed using the kayak to go fishing. Everything you need is there. Kitchen is stocked with great pots and pans. Beds were comfy and had no problem falling asleep at night. Cheryl was very communicative prior to checking in. We look forward to staying here again!

This was our first trip to this area and we could not have been anymore pleased. The house, location and views were perfect for the relaxation we all craved. The kitchen was well stocked and appliances were in good working order. We had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl and really appreciate her sharing her beautiful home. She was always quick with her responses to any of our questions. Hopefully we will be able to visit again soon. Highly recommend this home!!!

Perfect Start to Fall
Our family has vacationed at SML for 17 years. This home met and exceeded our expectations. Both the home and the provided linens were clean and in excellent condition. The kitchen was stocked with everything you might need and then some. There are so many thoughtful little details at this home. The view from the dock is gorgeous anytime of day. While it was a little cool for swimming this trip we fished, kayaked, and boated the days away and enjoyed the fire pit near the dock at night. Our oldest son caught a 7lb catfish right off the dock. The community boat ramp is well maintained, super convenient and was a huge plus for us. Cheryl was wonderful to work with. We would love to stay at this property again!

Fantastic Experience!
This was our second stay here, and we intend to stay again next year. Great location in the prettiest area of the lake, nice view of the mountains, good wifi and cell phone coverage, nice quiet cove that isn't too closed in. Convenient neighborhood boat ramp close by. Everything in the house is fresh and updated, nicely decorated and exceptionally well equipped. Owners are very friendly and accommodating.

We will definitely rebook in the future! We were sad to leave!

Better than expected!
This property was perfect for our mini vacation! The hosts, Rick and Cheryl, have done an incredible job of offering not only an amazing house, but also the convenience of the outdoor amenities (beautiful lake and mountain views from the upper deck), screened porch, large dock ( part of which was covered, to get out of the sun or rain!), the firepit. We all enjoyed the kayaks and were even able to rent a boat for a day to explore more of the lake. Ping pong table was a hit as well. Clean, beautiful, and peaceful place. Can’t wait to return!! Thank you, Rick and Cheryl!
