About this house rental
Nestled in the Fenley Forest on Lake Glenville, this 2,400 sf modern waterfront cabin was remodeled top to bottom in 2019. Literally everything is brand new! Including the roof, wood flooring, skylights, windows, sliding doors, bathrooms, kitchen, appliances, mattresses, 4 computer ready big screen tvs, dual zone central air and heat, and furniture! It was designed to appeal to those with an eye for modern minimalism. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen size bed. Super comfy Tuft & Needle memory foam mattresses throughout! Rated 4.6/5 stars for comfort by 27,125 people. Each bedroom has a skylight to capture the tree tops of Fenley Forest by day and an array of stars by night. The en suite master bedroom has a floating bed in the center of the room to maximize the breathtaking lake views. The other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom with a reclaimed barn wood vanity, matte black fixtures and graphic cement tiles. The great room has a commanding view of the lake and an impressive stone wood burning fireplace. It has an open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen. The living area has 2 extra large black leather tufted sofas from CB2. In the open kitchen, there is a custom 5ft x 10ft island made by a local craftsman with seating for 12 people. The waterfall counter tops are made of recycled tin roofing material and each nail head was hammered by hand. The facade is a unique reclaimed wood design. The cook top is at the end of the island so cooking while entertaining becomes effortless! The kitchen has brand new stainless appliances and open shelving with well appointed glassware, dishware and flatware. There is brand new recessed lighting as well as new skylights throughout the house so it is always bright and cheery. The glass front door allows the sunshine to pour in and reveals a giant granite mountain face. The keyless Schlage smart lock allows for easy check in, entry and exit by all house guests using an assigned code. There are 2 levels of patio space for outdoor seating and dining. The downstairs level has equally breathtaking views with sliding doors to provide the best possible lake views. There is a ping pong table, a game table, 2 computer ready tvs, a retro wood burning oven flanked by 2 black leather mid century modern sofas, a kitchenette with mini fridge, sink, and microwave, a bathroom with an original clawfoot tub and giant picture window, and a brand new Samsung High Efficiency washer and dryer. There is also an April Air dehumidification system for maximum comfort. There are 3 queen size platform beds with brand new Tuft & Needle mattresses in the downstairs sleeping quarters. The lower level patio has built in benches for relaxing. The dock is 20'x20' with a retractable aluminum ladder for easy access in and out of the lake. The dock can accommodate power boats, water craft and lake water toys. The house is situated on the mid point of Lake Glenville which offers one of the longest most sweeping views of the lake. It is also one of the most sunny areas at all times of the day because of it's location. The house is secluded yet only a 15 minute drive to Cashiers town center and a 25 minute drive to Main Street in Highlands. It makes for the ideal spot for a family vacation. The house has Sonos, full high speed internet (the fastest on the lake), Nest thermostats, BBQ grill. Why is Lake Glenville such a sought after vacation destination? In the summertime, as the mercury is rising everywhere else in the country, the average daytime temps are the 70s to low 80s and drop down to the 50s and 60s at night. So Refreshing! Even nearby Lake Keowa gets ridiculously hot during the day because of it's much lower elevation. There are small waterfalls on the lake that are fun to boat to as well as lots of great fishing spots. Tubing, waterskiing and wakeboarding are all very popular lake activities. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing as are the sounds of geese at dusk and dawn and sights of bald eagles and deer that nest and live nearby. There are amazing hiking opportunities nearby as well as golf courses, restaurants, shopping, white water rafting, a sliding rock, gem mining, horseback riding, antiquing and more!

We really enjoyed our stay at this mountain lake home. It is well appointed and very clean. We enjoyed the quaintness of the area accessed by a (well-maintained) dirt road through the woods. The fire pit on the lake was such a great space for spending the evenings together recapping our day on the water. Thank you.

We loved our stay at The Barn on Lake Glenville. This house was the perfect set-up for our group — two adult couples (we stayed upstairs) and 3 teen brothers (stayed downstairs). There was plenty of room to spread out & keep the boys entertained. The house upstairs is clean and comfortable. The lake is a bit of a trek, but I think this is fairly common on this lake. The dock is lovely and we spent hours every day on it and swimming to the nearby spit. We would highly recommend renting a pontoon! We loved having access to a few kayaks and the firepit as well.

Excellent house on Lake Glenville.
We stayed at this lake house 3 nights over Labor Day. 2 adults 7 kids 11-14. More than enough room for us. The House is clean and updated. Anything you can imagine you would need is there as far as plates, utensils, wood, fire starters, tv, internet, etc. Easy access to the lake with deep dock. Fire pit by the water. Separate basement with space for kids and ping pong table. Large open living space and kitchen when all can hang out. We had a great time. Owners extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

sadly, had we not had our family there, this would not have been a good vacation. The Lake is great but the trip down is long and there are stairs rotted and dangerous. All bedrooms and bathrooms are tiny with no storage and although there have been bathroom updates, the "master" is a closet, at best. The toilets rock and also the bathtub is dangerous. There is absolutely no storage in the kitchen for groceries and pots and pans are stored on ground level way under the island, requiring you to go on your hands and knees to access. There are concerns on the deck railing and the stairs down to the lower bedroom are narrow and steep. And the list goes on. All things considered, this house is way overpriced especially considering other homes available.

Great Vacation Great Property
Kids had an awesome time. Property was very clean and a nice location on the lake close to downtown. Getting to the property was at times a little tricky when the road got to be 1 lane. Especially when you had big trucks coming the opposite way. there was only 5 of us but the house easily sleeps 12. Note to families with young toddlers, we didnt let our toddler out on the 2nd floor patio since the rail openings were a little to large and the ground was pretty far down. Overall, we had a great time and would definately stay here again.

Great mountain lake house!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barn! The house perfectly accommodated our family get together and the downstairs area was great for the older kids as it contained three large beds, two couches, a large screen tv, ping-pong table and cornhole set. The kids enjoyed kayaking (3 came with the house) and fishing in the lake and we all enjoyed watching the sunset every evening around the fire pit at the lake’s edge. The lake is a bit of a hike down the hill (as are most houses on the lake) from the house and the road leading up to the house is tricky with the twists and turns however once you arrive it’s well worth the hike. We had a blast playing golf, horseback riding, cruising around the lake on our boat, hiking the nearby trails and going into Cashiers and Highlands to eat and shop. We look forward to our next trip to the area and would definitely recommend staying at the Barn!

Fun Time at the Mountain Barn
Great house that is well designed and decorated. Simple and elegant. Downstairs was perfect for our teens to hang out and be by themselves. Everything was in great condition. Recommend minimizing trips up and down the mountain. Lake view was awesome and love the town of Cashiers. Breakfast at the Zookeeper Bistro was fantastic. Would return.

This was perfect for our family. Grandchildren from Arizona enjoyed the cool mountain weather and we enjoyed being together. Fishing from the dock was great for the little ones who easily caught bream. The space was perfect for our family.

Lake house with its own island
Called"The Barn" on signs leading to it (actually a white two story ranch house) this property is a very comfortable place for a large family to stay on a beautiful lake. It has three Queen bedrooms on the first floor and three Queen beds in a large lower-level room that works well for teens and younger. It does sleep 12 comfortably. Like most Glenvillle Lake rental properties, it has a steep serpentine trail from the house down to the lake where the property has a large, dock area for swimming, boating, and sunbathing. There is a small island very near the property that serves as a welcome landmark for finding your dock on this large lake! The only negative feature of the property is that the fire pit area is down at the lake level and is welcoming mostly for the younger generations. The owners who live next door are very good hosts and respond to any needs quickly. Our family had a great time this past week at this property.

Great accommodations
This location is an outstanding venue to experience lake life in Glenville, North Carolina. The owners are very attentive to your comfort and meticulous in hosting details. The split floor design at the house allows for easy separation between adult and child family members. i’d recommend that children select the downstairs which has a great deal of room, more so than the pictures would suggest, to allow for their own unwinding. The house is on the lake and has access to a dock which can be used to secure a boat rental. There were three paddle kayaks on site available at no extra charge. The positioning of the property at the tip of the peninsula in the midlake is a fantastic location in terms of lake travel and lakeside viewing. Swimming around the dock and in the water near the property is safe and because of a nearby sandbar, is typically out of the path of other boats on the lake. It is also positioned on the shore of the widest portion of the lake allowing for easy tubing and water sport activities minutes away from your home dock. Both the main floor and bottom floor, are equipped with their own decks and there is a gas grill on site as well. Lastly, although publicly many would claim that a vacation like this should also be a vacation from technology, we are not always as courageous if we are forced into a situation with terrible Wi-Fi connectivity. Unlike many other homes around the lake, this home is well equipped with outstanding WiFi and smart TVs in every convenient location. You can leave your Rokus and Firesticks at home. If you must work while on vacation, the WiFi is fully capable for your needs without having to drive into town. By the way, Bucks cafe in town no longer allows laptops or iPads in an effort to discourage vacation workers occupying their store. Anyway, last bits of advice that I would offer is as you get closer to the house realize that the house is called “The Barn” on signage otherwise you may get lost. Also, check out time is 10 AM. We hope to re-create this vacation in upcoming years.

Perfect Again!
We stayed in this lovely house for the 2nd time and enjoyed it even more than the first! We had several teens in our group and the downstairs area was perfect for them. The house is well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Fun Mountain Lake Retreat
This is a great property on Lake Glenville for family fun. We had a great time on the lake, enjoyed the dock and the fire pit quite a bit. The downstairs is perfect for kids, 3 queen beds, a ping pong table, mini fridge/bar area, second living space with TV. The upstairs is lovely with 3 bedrooms- all with queen beds. Kitchen was very well-stocked with everything you may need to cook/grill. Bathrooms are cute, although pretty small with limited counter space. All the appliances worked well.
The view is beautiful with excellent sunset views from the porch and dock.
For older guests, the walk to the lake is steep and the stairs to the downstairs are also a little small - so watch your step. The drive to the property also includes a one lane dirt road that can be a bit tough for timid drivers.
Overall, we would absolutely book it again for a two family vacation. :)

Great Mountain Getaway!
We can't say enough great things about our trip to The Barn! Our family enjoyed everything they had to offer. We were even able to rent a boat through the property which made it even more seamless. Such a great place to getaway and enjoy everything the lake and mountains have to offer. We will definitely be back!

My family and I enjoyed our time at this lakefront cottage. It was clean, great views of the lake and we even rented the pontoon boat for a day. The communication with Jennifer was excellent. A wonderful getaway!

The Barn is both a Dream Home & Vacation Spot
We made an excellent choice by selecting this modern smartly renovated home (the Barn) for our Christmas holiday. The design gives you spectacular panoramic views of the lake that made us feel like we were in Canada or Switzerland. We were in good hands with Jen and Mark, our hosts, who responded immediately to every one of our requests or questions. Every item in the home is of very high quality and in pristine condition. I promise this vacation home will exceed your expectations — gorgeous in location, design and function.

Fall Family Mountain Getaway
We had a wonderful mini family vacation in Cullowhee. The property was beautiful, loved being on the lake and enjoyed the fire pit, ping pong and corn hole each evening. The nicely furnished house was fully equipped and very comfortable for the 6 of us. We enjoyed the perfect weather, fall foliage, nearby hiking, golf, restaurants and brewery.

Labor Day Weekend
Three couples with adult children spend Labor Day Weekend together every year. This year we chose the Barn and loved it! We had 11 in the cabin and we had plenty of room for eating, playing, and relaxing. We spent time on the lake kayaking, time on the dock sunning and swimming, time around the fire pit roasting s’mores, and enjoyed a hike at nearby High Falls. We also spent some time in Cashiers at the Farmers’ Market, coffee shop and bakery. We would definitely rent the Barn again!

the perfect lake and mountain retreat
This house is beautiful. Even better than the pictures. It is tucked away a bit off of a main road but once you get your bearings, it is the perfect combination of a private getaway but close to town, restaurants and hiking. The hosts were extremely welcoming and accommodating, answering any questions right away. We had a wonderful time and hope to be able to rent again next year.

80th birthday surprise
We had a wonderful time in this updated lake house! It is located in the middle of a forest on a quintessential mountain road that meanders around the lake to this sweet cottage. The home has incredible views and is trendy, light and bright (which is often not the case in a wooded setting) . We thoroughly enjoyed the deck space, ping pong table and dock each day. The evening weather didn't allow for a bonfire but the fire pit area is very inviting even without a fire! In addition, the owners were wonderful to work with!

Great location- Private and family friendly
Enjoyed our stay at the Barn. We had two families of 4 stay at the home. The lower level was a great spot for them to hangout with the ping pong table and TV's to keep them busy when we were not out on the lake. The fire pit was a popular spot for after dinner smores. The dock was plenty large enough to park the pontoon boat we rented. We also enjoyed a few evenings paddling around the lake on the two kayaks. Be aware that it is a climb back up to the house from the dock. There is a gravel walkway that keeps you from losing your footing. It was great exercise and really no big deal for our families.

Awesome view, decor, lake and surrounding area
We had a great time spending time with family (ages 9-75) at the barn. We enjoyed the cabin which was clean, well stocked and covered in beautiful decor. The dock and outside area were great! We used the cabin's kayaks and we brought our own paddleboards. Fun island next door to swim or kayak too. We brought our own boat and left at cabins dock. Worked out great! Highly recommend. There is quite a walk to water but that is common in the mountains! Overall best lake mountain house we have stayed at!

Nice Lake House
We enjoyed our week at the lake house! Everything is new and has been updated nicely. I loved that all of the cookware, utensils, etc were new and in excellent condition. That can be hard to find in a rental.
The downstairs area was great for all of our preteen kids and teenagers. They had their own space to hang out and play ping pong.
The fire pit area by the lake is really nice. The dock is wonderful! It’s really big which is nice so that everyone and all of our floats, fishing poles and such could fit. There are also two kayaks that you can use which we really enjoyed.
We had WiFi issues during our stay but the owner was quick to respond and communicate with us. It was out of her control but she kept us updated on the status throughout our stay. I only mention this because if you rely on WiFi to get work done during your stay you may want to consider bringing a back up WiFi source.

We had such an amazing stay at The Barn. So much fun to had on the lake (kayaks were a hit) and in surrounding towns. Love that our whole group could sit and eat together around the giant island. We will be back to visit again soon.

Lake Glenville Charmer
We really enjoyed our stay at this home on Lake Glenville. The house has been newly renovated and every detail is top quality. The sleeping space was great, including super comfortable beds in all rooms, and two living spaces provided ample room for us to spread out. The views from the house are spectacular! We spent much of our time down on the dock and by the fire pit. Communication with the owners was excellent and they were keen on making our stay the best it could possibly be!

Perfect lake house getaway!
We absolutely loved our stay! Sometimes lake houses can be old fashioned, dark and stuffy. This house was the exact opposite. It was light and airy with a clean, modern mountain aesthetic. The house is decorated so beautifully and was so comfortable for our entire family of 12. It has that cozy cabin feel but all of the modern amenities and décor of an upscale home in the city. We had coffee and breakfast every morning on the upper porch where we took in the gorgeous lake views and listened to the birds singing away. We cozied up around the fireplace at night to watch movies together and we all took turns cooking meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We played board games and put a puzzle together on the big island table that seated everyone comfortably. The kids loved the old fashioned claw foot tub and having their own space downstairs for playing ping pong and watching tv. We all loved hanging out on the huge dock and especially watching the sunsets from that vantage point. We took long nature walks together right from the house. The house is big enough that everyone has their own space but not so big that everyone doesn’t feel connected to each other. We made great memories here and would love for it to become our annual family gathering place.

Ideal Couples Retreat in the Mountains of Lake Glenville
We were looking for a vacation spot for all of our couple friends to meet up and just relax and enjoy each other’s company. This lake house was just perfect, we didn’t want to leave! We had so much fun exploring the area. The nearby towns of Highlands and Cashiers reminded us of a Hallmark movie. Everything was so quaint and perfect. We shopped on Main Street in Highlands while the guys hung out at The Ugly Dog Pub. We got spa treatments at The Old Edwards Inn and a highlight was our hike at Whiteside Mountain. All of the girls loved the furnishings in the house. My best friend had major sofa envy over the tufted black leather couches. The house was spotless and the owners thought of every detail. They guys played beer pong into the wee hours of the night while the girls enjoyed drinking wine by the fireplace. The views of Lake Glenville are panoramic from the house. It was like a beautiful, ever changing painting. The dock was big enough to fit all of us. We enjoyed using it for happy hours! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!!
