The treehouse my brother and I rented was clean and comfortable and afforded a grand view of the Fripp Island marsh. When wind drove us off the beach, we spent hours on the deck. The place is small but ideal for two people. One caution: the spiral staircase makes it unsuitable for small children. Moreover, I wish the rental information had warned about the necessity of obtaining an amenity card from the Fripp Island Resort. Without one, you cannot eat at the restaurants on the island. The cards are difficult to get if you've not purchased one with your rental and are expensive. My brother and I did not get them but found good nearby restaurants off island.

The marsh in the lowlands is beautiful, the beaches and maritime forest are a nature lovers paradise. We have never been disappointed in the 48 years we have been visiting the area. From the cabins and houses on Hunting Island, now long gone, to Harbor Island and now to our first visit to Fripp. However, considering its location, and the implied standard of this house, we were a bit disappointed. The decor is very dated and drab and it has so much potential to be lovely with the full view windows. Once things warmed up, we couldn’t find instructions for the A/C but we finally figured it out. The deck is located in the perfect location to observe wildlife, but could really use a sun umbrella and new grill. The golf cart was a mess (pollen mostly) and I couldn't get the hose to work to wash it off , but I cleaned it as best I could. Finally, although the house cleaning crew had the beds made nicely, cleaned tubs and sinks, vacuumed the floors and provided clean linen and towels, the interior of the house could use a little updating for comfort and enjoyment. Please find another sofa!
Our recommendations are always going to be Hunting Island, for shark tooth hunting, osprey nests, turtle activity in their season and the pier. We actually witnessed a bald eagle swoop down and steal a dead fish from the turkey vultures on the pier. Also, if you love birds, the migratory season is the best time to see them, especially at Port Royal Cypress Wetlands and Rookery. For food, we highl

We had a good stay here even though Hurricane Ian drove us away a couple days early. This was not my favorite spot on the island. The condo definitely needs some updating but overall it was ok. My biggest complaint was uncomfortable beds. (I know we all have our preference as to firm, soft, etc.) The complaint was that the mattress pads were too big for beds which caused a lot of wadded up lumps on the bed. If I had recognized the problem sooner I would have removed them. The property manager was very responsive and kept us up to date as the storm approached. Overall this was an OK stay.

Wonderful trip!
We had a wonderful time in the treehouse!! It was so beautiful and we really enjoyed the wildlife! The included golf cart made it an easier trip. The outdoor shower (with hot water!) was enjoyed by all every day! The master bed was a queen (we thought it was a king) and we brought a baby gate for the staircase but the rails were farther apart than we thought so that was interesting trying to babyproof for the 15 month old. It would be a better vacation house for someone with older kids; our 5 year old was totally fine. Those are the only 2 things that weren’t perfect, so overall a very enjoyable vacation! We would absolutely come back when the baby is a little older!

Wonderful experience on the marsh
This property is so unique and had everything we needed for a family vacation. The building design was so much fun and we loved the floor to ceiling windows. The blinds were an easy adjustment for privacy at night and the blackout curtains were good, as well. There was a great local interest book selection in the house, with information on Fripp’s history and a section on Fiddlers Ridge, and some fun novels set in the area. There was also a nice guide to birds of the southeast. We went on a kayak tour, played pickle ball, and spent lots of time on the beach.
We loved it all!

Perfect Cure for Burnout
After working long hours and job stress, my husband and I just needed a few days away on one of our favorite islands just to decompress and not think about work or what home chore comes next. The Treehouse did not disappoint! The floor to ceiling windows were amazing and the views were awesome! We even had a mockingbird, bluebirds, a red headed woodpecker and a whole group of Cardinals with one male cardinal looking in the door at the same time one afternoon! We also saw various birds out on the Marsh (including an aerial fight between a bald eagle and a hawk) and a racoon exploring next door. We never saw deer at the property, but hopping on the golf cart and tooling around the island, we saw quite a few. I'm a photograoher, so I got some great shots. We also saw dolphins hunting in the surf. We explored the fishing dock, the end of the island, the Audobon Marsh Trail (so peaceful) and hung out at the crab dock just around the corner, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the glorious light just before sunset. Our Superbowl mini party was fun with snacks out on the deck beforehand and chilling in front of the TV during the game. The house had everything we needed and was perfect for a couple. Highly recommend moonlight cocktails out on the deck even if you have to bundle up! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

New Years at Fripp
We absolutely enjoyed our stay during New Years! The location and privacy is perfect. I do have a few tips for anyone thinking of staying here tho.. 1. Not enough towels provided, I would’ve brought extra if I had known. (And will next time) 2. Needs more outdoor light, would’ve been nice to have light on the porch. 3. Pillows were not good. (I’ll bring our own next time) 4. Furniture could use some updating. These are really just a preference and would not stop me from renting again. So far this rental is our favorite out of 4 trips. Hope to stay there again next visit.

We love Fripp
Didn’t much like staying in the treetop houses. The house smelt bad but I’m sure it’s from low tide. We will stay in a different place next time. We have stayed in many different houses. We love Fripp!

Treehouse Vacation
Comfortable and quiet. Sunrises, sunsets, wildlife through the giant windows, stars on the deck, and fish on the grill. Fantastic.

Best view of the marsh!
This may be the best view on the island! (It also may be the quietest!) We adored our stay in the treehouse. Everything was just as described. We loved having the golf cart and amenity cards but my absolute favorite was the bikes! For the first 3 nights it was just my husband and me as we celebrated our anniversary and it was a perfect getaway spot. We loved the views of the marsh inside as well as from the deck. Our kids (elementary school age) joined us for the second half of the week and the second bedroom with two twin beds was perfect for them. I'm so glad we finally had an opportunity to stay in Fiddlers Ridge and if we do again, we will certainly book this property...it felt so private and special.

Perfect location.
We loved staying here! We enjoy interesting houses and this one didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed chatting with neighbors and being close to a crabbing dock was nice. We only had two hang ups. The place could use a refresher. The furniture is dated and makes it look not so clean. The comforters could use a revamp too. We felt everything was clean but changing the decor could help overall. The golf cart was a huge disappointment. It was so slow and even though we called the company, they didn’t fix it. I would have rather rented one through fripp. Despite those little hiccups, we enjoyed our stay here!

Novelty home.
The home is a novelty. Windows everywhere is nice. Location is secluded. "Living" here was work. Difficult kitchen to cook in, laundry area was downstairs
so it was hard to use. We cooked a lot. Furniture was mismatched and not very nice. Beds slept well. I think for the price it should have at least been furnished better.the pictures were accurate, but up close was disappointing.

Salt marsh getaway
It is a fantastic property if you appreciate the beauty of the low country salt marshes. The birds are beyond compare. Nice, small, efficient house. The inclusion of bikes and a golf cart are a nice bonus.

Amazing service although we didn’t stay
There isn’t an option to review without staying. I want to be clear we didn’t stay but wanted to leave a positive review about our experience. We have had family stay here in the past so I feel comfortable saying the accommodations were excellent even though we didn’t stay. We were unable to make our reservation due to the pandemic and David thankfully made it easy for us to change our plans during a stressful time. We own a cabin we rent thru VRBO and have often made changes or allowed cancellations during wildfire season. We felt fortunate that we received the same kindness.

Great Views!
My parents live on Fripp, and I was looking for someplace where my teenage son and I could stay for a socially-distanced visit. The “treehouse” was ideal! The beautiful views and unique octagonal design make it such a fun getaway destination. Thanks for helping us safely celebrate Christmas 2020!

The Perfect Fripp Getaway Place
This treehouse is a dream come true. It is impeccable, the kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfy, the furniture is just right for the small spaces, and the manager is very responsive and friendly. The marsh views are spectacular and the egrets and other wading birds are plentiful just off the deck. We can't wait to get back.
