About this house rental
The apartment is ready to accommodate 4/6 people and is part of the housing where the property owners. It's composed by:
A living room with a sofa bed, TV and fireplace.
Two bedrooms with double bed, one with direct connection to the bathroom.
Equipped kitchen, including washing machine, with autonomous dining area for 6 to 8 people.
The apartment has an outside area, under a porch, with garden and farm access. The property has both an orchard and vegetable garden, as well as chickens providing fresh eggs every day [which guests are free to have, as long as enough are available].
Quinta Senhora da Vida is located along the road from Colares to Cascais, close to the small village of Pé da Serra, just 30/40 minutes from Lisbon. It is a detached farm of 2 hectares, an agricultural part, another forest. The owners live all year round in property and are the ones who welcome the guests. The house is in the woods area of oaks, cork oaks, chestnut trees, holly and strawberry trees, among hortenses.
With direct access via the national road, it also allows walking or cycling to walks along the paths of the mountains. Some of the best nature trails are easily accessible and the owners know all the secrets of the mountain and know how to give all the indications - they will not fail to advise you on a walking tour to Adro Nunes or even to the Peninha Sanctuary.
Two of the most beautiful beaches in the area are also accessible on foot (3 / 4km away). The beach of Ursa, the wildest of all, the first north of Cabo da Roca, where you can nudism. And Adraga beach, considered in 2003 by the British newspaper The Sunday Times, One of the top 20 European beaches.
In the immediate vicinity of Quinta do Pé da Serra is the village of Almoçageme, a village still with village life but where there is a good supply of small shops, several cafes, an ATM box and good restaurants. On weekends there is still a street market, by the road, products of the earth and that attracts people from all over the region.

Gabriela was a wonderful hostess. She was so generous and gave us lots of goodies which we much enjoyed.

Such a beautiful location with thoughtful gifts like bread, cheese, wine and fresh eggs. The hike in the nature preserve on location is stunning and gives you the true feel of living like a local. Highly recommended if you want to stay off the beaten path. There are precious K9 ambassadors on site to warmly greet you with your kind host. Highly recommended!!!

Maria was wonderful. All of the extras that she does is so nice after traveling all day. We didn’t have to rush to find something to eat. The dogs are a sweet welcoming. Highly recommend!

If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would. This is exactly the sort of vacation home we love. Six friendly dogs to greet you at the gate and a beautiful apartment that felt like home. A pen filled with chickens and a quiet rooster, made this place feel like we were off the beaten path despite being right off the 247.
Gabriela and her husband were the most accommodating and kind hosts. When we arrived, we found a loaf of fresh bread, ham and cheese and farm fresh eggs, and wine! It was perfect because we were hungry from driving directly from the airport. There is a beautiful hike right outside the back gate. 3.5 km up to the Sanctuary of Peninha, which overlooks Cascais and Cabo de Roca. We drove to three local beaches and sat and read listening to the waves. We drove to Sesimbra (an hour) and went for a swim. We drove to Cascais (half an hour) and Mafra (less than an hour), which made this spot absolutely perfect. We regret going to Porto and Lisbon to be honest.
You should know Qinta de Senhora de Vida is in Colares, between the ocean and the Sintra hills, so it can feel damp and laundry takes a little longer to dry. The spot would be perfect for a family or a few quiet friends. If anyone asks me where they should go in Portugal, I am going to say this place, and don't book anywhere else.

We had a lovely stay at Gabriela’s beautiful estate in the Sintra hills. I can not imagine a more perfect host; she was the perfect mix of warm, welcoming and easy-going. Gabriela took very good care of us during our stay. We really appreciated the bread, meat, cheese, wine, fresh farm eggs and delicious homemade jam on our arrival, especially since all the grocery stores were closed on our arrival (we flew in on Easter Sunday). We especially enjoyed the garden, fruit orchard and hens. The dogs were all very gentle and sweet. One thing I was unsure about was the location, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of the stay. There is a beautiful hike literally out the back gate, we were only a short drive to Cabo da Roca and the most amazing hike/scramble/beach (Praia do Ursa). It was easy to drive to Sintra for the day. I was worried about parking, but Gabriela gave us great advice on where to park and we had no problems. Most of all, I am so grateful to have met Gabriela!

Gabriela is a fantastic host!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we only wish it could have been longer. The house is very clean. Our host had everything ready for us. The pellet stove was warm and inviting. Fresh eggs from the chickens on the property. Bread and wine, cookies, ham, cheese and local jam all waiting for us. The area is a world heritage site and close to magnificent beaches. We needed more than a couple of days to experience it all.
The directions to the house that you find on VRBO are not correct. The site will mess you up. I suggest that you check with Gabriela on WhatsApp before proceeding to the house.

We had a very nice stay at Pedra da Lua. Gabriela was a great host, very friendly and supportive. She took very well care of us. When we arrived, we found fresh eggs (from her own chicken), bread cheese, butter, ham and fruits. The place is great in summer, when you want to escape the heat of the city. It is good for hiking and for visiting all the nice places around, like Pena, Monserrate, Castelo do Mouros, Cabo da Roca and it is not far from the beach.
We enjoyed staying there for more than a week.
