Pets:
We are glad that we offer a home where you can bring your pets along. However, in the year we’ve been renting, we have had numerous problems. Therefore we have the following policies:
Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture.
Clean up after your pet if they go in the yard, there is a poop scooper usually on the deck.
We have a roll of green temporary fence on the corner of the front deck. If you like, this can be used to keep your pets on the deck. It attaches using the hooks on the rail and the house.
We also have two child gates inside if you would like to keep your pet on the main floor where there is no carpet.
It is imperative that you keep your dog(s) on a leash when outside. There are several (really nice) older people in our neighborhood who frequently walk their dogs without leashes, as well as guests in the main house with dogs sometimes.
If your pet goes to the bathroom on the carpet, clean it up or we will charge for professional cleaning.
Failure to follow these rules will result in a minimum $500 additional cleaning fee.

House and property were clean, comfortable, spacious, quality and full of options for activities and fun! The zip line was nonfunctional but we probably wouldn’t have used it anyway. We completed the short hike to the waterfall off of the property which was beautiful and lush!! The outdoor fireplace was phenomenal! Proximity to downtown Highlands was perfect! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay!!

Let me start out by staying Marty, one of the property co-owners/property managers could not have been nicer and more accommodating, as well as a good communicator. We had a couple of things go wrong while there, but he was right on top of it. There is a crack in the main level tub that renders it unusable, however Marty let me know this in advance that they were looking into a fix. From a location standpoint, the property is extremely remote and a bit difficult to get to, and is very private on a remote one lane road in a development that never really developed. It allows plenty of natural light and the feeling of being in a treehouse.
From an overall rating standpoint, I cannot give this property more than a 3.5 to 4 star rating. The home is nice, has great bones and potential, but needs a total makeover from a decor/furnishings standpoint. Most all the furniture/decor is very old, drab, worn out, and uncomfortable. Additionally, the old creaky antique bed and mattress on the main level is completely shot and probably the most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever sleep in. I’m talking very bad! The other bedrooms have newer and very comfortable mattresses, so our other guests sleep comfortably, so it’s the main level only that needs replacing. That’s my review in a nutshell. They need to drop about $15k - $20k on new bed/mattress and furnishings, as well as replace the main level tub and this would be a 5 star property. Just keeping it real.

This cabin was spacious and pretty well stocked- in terms of kitchen equipment, towels, etc. The nice thing is the property allows pets, bad thing about that is there were several places with noticeable pet stains. We also couldn’t get in when we arrived. The code didn’t work and it took about half an hour to reach the owner. It was a difficult situation after traveling across country all day with young children because it was very late when we arrived and then couldn’t get in. Overall, good location and ample space for a big family.

WONDERFUL property for our group of 8! The main house was large enough for everyone to spread out but still felt cozy. We loved having all the amenities (especially the fireplaces, hot tub and game room) and the kitchen was AMAZING! Especially helpful to have two ovens when cooking for a large group. Loved how close the house is to Highlands even though it felt pretty remote. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house Marty!

We loved our stay at this cabin. It was so cozy and enjoyable and our family loved the time around the fireplaces, the hot tub, zip line, and so much more. Marty was a fabulous host. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

Wonderful large mountain home. Three master BR and a bunk room fit us perfectly. Cool weather allowed us to burn LOTS of wood at outdoor fireplace. Three indoor gas fireplaces were burned frequently. House was clean, kitchen was fabulous and Marty was very responsive. Book it.

Our family took a 5 day trip for vacation and stayed at Lotts of Sky. It was a nice house and the porches are AMAZING! We cooked most meals in the kitchen which was well sized and stocked with utensils. The weather was cool so we enjoyed the fireplace on the porch. We brought our dogs, so it was the perfect spot to escape for a few days with the whole family and fur babies. We look forward to returning!

Fabulous property with lots of peace and quiet to offer. Christmas decorations were still up which made me immensely happy. Beautiful Christmas China and fabulous chefs kitchen. The owner was graciously available for questions and concerns. We love the media room, the Jacuzzi, the beautiful porches, and all the fireplaces. Appreciated the ample supply of kitchen utensils pans and knives which made cooking easy and fun.

This home was a perfect fit for our group of 10. Three families with kids so the three master bedrooms and the bunk room were perfect for our group. The house has everything you need and the outdoor fireplace was a hit! Marty is a great host and very responsive to any questions. Can't wait to return!

We stayed at this property right before Christmas, and the home was decorated with decorations, a tree, and lights. It made for a warm, cozy feel even though the house is quite large. The six of us had plenty of space, and the hot tub and game room were extra perks that we enjoyed. It’s easy to drive to Highlands and various other natural attractions in the area. Communication with our host was great - Marty was quick to respond to any questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this home.

We booked months ago so we could arrange to have all children and grandchildren present for a long-awaited family vacation in the mountains. We know most homes look great in the photos, but this one fully met and exceeded our expectations. From the large master suites, to the impressive wood detail and trim, to the gas and wood burning fireplaces, large professional kitchen, to the massive wrap around decks, it was an instant hit with every family member. The house is built at the top of a down sloping yard so you get the feeling of living in a treehouse. Added bonus features enjoyed by all were the game room, zip line (kids only), and the large hot tub. We also rented the separate garage apartment which was spacious and well equipped. With access to the two car garage, supplied firewood, and two washer/dryer combinations, it had truly everything you could want in a mountain house to be enjoyed by a large group. We were able to walk to the newly-renovated Skyline Lodge and enjoy a fantastic brunch in what in the evening becomes the renowned Oaks Steakhouse. And, because it is only a short drive from town and located at the end of a long and winding road, you have a property with the unique combination of complete privacy yet very convenient to all in-town amenities. Also very important, the host, Marty, was very responsive to all questions concerning the property which is a big plus. You will not be disappointed if you choose to spend time at this wonderful home!

Perfect home in a perfect location!
This home is gorgeous! You will stay in a beautifully apportioned adult treehouse with amenities that provide healthy engagement for the kids. The owners renovated this property with such love and care. The interior design could be featured in Architectural Digest. From the log accents, the tree branch railings, warm lighting, open windows that invite the beauty of the NC forest into every single room - this is the place for your vacation. A short trip to Highlands (5-10m), Cashiers (15m) and more waterfalls than you can possibly see. We loved the homemade dinners with the grandparents and long stories at the al fresco dining table. It was not only clean, the owners are responsive and helpful. The weather was perfect! The home is my new dream house. We were sad to return home to the non-idyllic day-to-day life. We hope to visit more often than once a year! Book this now! :)

Great Weekend in Highlands
The house was perfect for a family gathering. We had plenty of room. We loved the wrap around porch- especially the covered area with the outdoor fireplace and huge dining table. We spent most of out time out there! The kitchen was great- we cooked fabulous meals every night and ate outside at that great table. We really enjoyed our long weekend there.

Family visit for wedding.
This was a lovely home that was perfect for a family group that was coming from Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Texas. The home provided everything we needed to relax, visit, eat all of our meals and prepare for the wedding. Thank you so much for the great communication. Once you get to the house it is easy to get back to everywhere you need to go and back again.

We will be back!
We loved this home! It was beautiful and had everything we needed. We cooked every meal in the gorgeous kitchen with every gadget imaginable. We stayed on the porch most of our time. My adult children and spouses said this was their favorite vacation ever! Didn’t hear much out of the kids…must have been entertained with all available. (My husband uses a walker and we entered and exited from the garage, so had no problems)

Beautiful mountain getaway
We had a lovely stay. The cabin was well-equipped, roomy, and in a great location (only 10-15 min. from Highlands main street). And they even had it decorated for Christmas, which we especially appreciated, given we were there just before Christmas. The indoor gas fireplace, the outdoor wood fireplace, the gas grill, and the zipline were our family favorites. Plus the gourmet kitchen made making some family meals much easier!
