Omega 4, Flamingo Location
Opportunities for adventure abound in this area, including sportfishing, scuba diving, ziplining, horseback riding and much more. Few towns in Costa Rica are as ideally located as Flamingo for access to all the activities visitors love.
An hour away from the international airport in Liberia, Flamingo is also a 15- or 20-minute drive from a string of stunning beaches between Playa Grande and Playa Danta.
Flamingo itself is a small, upscale town with restaurants, bars, grocery stores, banks, a pharmacy and other conveniences. And it’s close to the funky towns of Surfside and Potrero to the north and Brasilito to the south. A bit farther out, the larger town of Huacas offers big grocery and hardware stores and 24/7 urgent medical care.
Omega 4 in Flamingo is right in the middle of it all, though it feels so far away from everything. Book this unit for your next Costa Rica vacation, and you’ll have a hard time leaving.
Adventure awaits

Day trips to Rincón de la Vieja National Park, whitewater rafting or local cultural tours – we’re here to offer you unbeatable service! The Neighborhood:
Altos de Flamingo is a gated community in the heart of Flamingo. Upper units offer spectacular views of Potrero Bay and the green hillsides all around. It’s located right next to the excellent Super Massai grocery store, a string of restaurants, hardware stores, banks, a medical clinic and other conveniences.
You can walk four blocks to the beach, and from here it’s a short drive to the new Marina Flamingo, or to the nearby towns and beaches of Surfside, Potrero, Las Catalinas, Brasilito, Conchal and Grande. Altos de Flamingo provides a convenient and central location to explore all of Guanacaste’s resplendent Gold Coast.
Flamingo is a high-end beachfront community notable for its dazzling ocean views and the beautiful, hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific, separating Playa Potrero from Playa Flamingo.
Flamingo is home to a wide array of stunning homes and vacation rentals, as well as humbler lodging options, and it has restaurants, grocery stores, banks and other conveniences.
A brand-new, state-of-the-art marina opened to the public in 2022, with slips for yachts and fishing boats, condos for rent and all kinds of shops and restaurants. Other major developments here include the 360 Splendor del Pacifico luxury condominiums on top of the North Ridge, the Margaritaville Beach Resort, and the upscale Mar Vista housing development, where there’s an excellent private school called La Paz.
Good restaurants in town include the Coco Loco, a beachfront eatery known for its coconut drinks and standout cuisine; Marie’s, a reliable standard with a long and enticing menu; Angelina’s, featuring fine Italian dining in an elegant environment; and several options at the Margaritaville, including the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
Flamingo was largely developed by foreigners, and it lacks the traditional Costa Rican downtown with a soccer field plaza, church and school. The heart of town is an upscale commercial plaza with stone steps, fountains, restaurants and shops. Farther away on the road to Brasilito, you’ll find smaller restaurants, hotels, banks, hardware stores and the Super Massai grocery store.
Flamingo is more or less the centerpiece of a beautiful coastline stretching from the Reserva Conchal resort in the south to the Las Catalinas resort in the north, with the more traditional Costa Rican towns of Brasilito and Potrero in between. Flamingo is within easy striking distance of several beaches, including Conchal, Flamingo, Potrero, Penca, Prieta, Pan de Azucar and Danta.
Getting Around:
Our agents will be happy to assist you with renting a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area where you want, when you want. For short drives to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are another popular mode of transportation. You can also rent a bicycle to ride around in town or beyond.
We can arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rental cars can also be delivered to your property at no additional cost, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery as our private van drives you here from the airport.
Taxis are available but can be a bit hard to find. Many locals use buses to get around, though there are a limited number of routes and times of day when you can catch them. Private shuttles can be a great option for traveling to nearby destinations, and many tour companies offer transportation to and from the tour. Our information brochure will provide you with useful information on local transportation options and points of interest, as well as contact information for taxis and shuttles.
Other Things to Note:
Special Places of Costa Rica is committed to protecting our properties and keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations, which is why you will be asked to complete our independent verification. Before your stay begins, you will need to verify your details with us to complete your booking. You will be contacted via email and/or text to complete the verification. You will also be given the choice between paying a refundable deposit or buying a non-refundable damage waiver. We suggest you buy the damage waiver as this protects you in case you cause accidental damage during a booking.

We aren’t those people who complain about the smallest things but after such a long wait for this vacation, we did have a few disappointments. But first:
The Pros:
1. The view is stunning. It never got old.
2. The beaches are gorgeous.
3. The shower was great – clean, lots of pressure. The unit has hot water on demand, so we never ran out.
4. Special Places staff are easy to deal with and quick to respond to concerns and questions. Check in was a breeze and they were very helpful. Special kudos to Juan Diego!
5. No bugs!
The Cons:
1. Listing photos need to be updated – not as shown. Exterior concrete is mildewed. The inside tiles are lifting, cracked and need resealing. Could use a deep clean and a paint refresh. The bed is a cozy double, definitely not a queen.
2. Kitchen amenities are very basic – would be great for overnight or a day or two, but not for a four week stay unless you’re happy to pan fry or microwave all your meals. We didn’t use the dishwasher as we didn’t have enough dishes to run through it and not waste water.
3. Listing needs to add that a vehicle or golf cart is a necessity. The condo isn’t close to anything and the long hill getting to the condo is very steep.
4. The pool is in the shade and very cold – I only went in once in 4 weeks. The ocean was much warmer.
Finally, for owner consideration – it would be nice to have a grill on one of the two decks and a few beach necessities – like folding chairs, a cooler, sand towels. The area is expensive, and we found it annoying that every beach day involved renting chairs and umbrellas (and not cheap). Just a thought.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay at Omega 4. We met some great people, it’s a great area with a fabulous view and the climate is perfect for those of us escaping a long, cold winter.

Stranded outside the property in the pouring rain for hours. Throwing stones and beeping horns to get a neighbor to open the door! This property was fabulous but SPECIAL PLACES OF COSTA RICA property managers were absolutely terrible. We tried every number including a US contact and 24 hr emergency but nobody picked up. We reached out to the owner Kenny Segers he didn’t reply to calls , emails … he just didn’t care! We were ignored totally. Do not use this property management company, they are unreachable! We had other issues with this company but this is the main issue for the rating.
