About this hostel
“Creature Comforts” is a unit complex built in the 1960’s for budget accommodation purposes on fabulous K'Gari (Fraser Island). Centrally located at Happy Valley on the World Heritage-Listed K'Gari (Fraser Island), Creature Comforts is 50 meters from the Fraser Island Retreat and only 150 meters to 75 Mile Beach.
The Creature Comforts complex has 2 units available: “Marloo” sleeping up to 4 people and “Eli” sleeping up to 12 people. Each unit has its own private Bathroom. There is an outdoor communal Camp Kitchen available to both Units.
** Please see separate listing for “Marloo” if you wish to book both properties for larger groups up to 16 guests**
https://www.homeaway.com.au/holiday-rental/p9457988?uni_id=8537091
“Eli” is a budget accommodation unit and has the ability to sleep either large groups or 1, 2 or 3 families making this unit very economical for a group of up to 12 people. The Eli unit is designed to be the next best thing to camping on the beach with toilets, hot showers, running water and a 48v solar power system (with back-up generator). No more dragging all the gear up the beach and losing hours of lost time setting up and pulling down your camp!
The Eli Unit is one of 2 units to share this facility. "Eli" has 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (hot shower, toilet and vanity).
The Unit can sleep up to 12 people:
Bedroom 1: 1 x Queen Bed
Bedroom 2: 1 x Queen Bed
Bedroom 3: 1 x Double Bed
Bedroom 4: 2 x Single Bunk Beds
Bedroom 5: 1 x Single Bunk Bed + 1 x Single Bed
Bedroom 6: 1 x Single Bunk Bed + 1 x Single Bed
The Eli Unit has been freshly painted internally and the total complex is powered by a 48v solar power system (with back-up generator). It is comfortable during the warmer months with fly-screens on all doors/windows and wall-mounted fans in all rooms.
There is an outdoor communal camp kitchen (shared by the 2 units) with large stainless steel bbq, kitchen sink, servery, complete with numerous huge 8-10 seater timber tables - perfect for alfresco dining. The Camp Kitchen also has 2 upright fridge/freezers (one for each unit). All pots/pans/plates/cutlery is supplied.
ADDED EXTRAS:
• All beds have mattress protectors and a pillow (you will need to bring your own bedsheets, blankets and towels)
• 24-hour power (48v solar power system with back-up generator)
Make your next stay at K'Gari (Fraser Island) hassle-free with all the basics already in place for you and the family. Eli is a cheap alternative to camping for your next stay on the Island).
THE LOCATION:
Centrally located (approximately half-way up the eastern coast of the Island), Happy Valley is the perfect base to head north and explore the likes of Eli Creek, Maheno Shipwreck, Indian Head and Champagne Pools. Heading south will take you to Lake Wabby, Eurong and across the Island to Central Station and Lake McKenzie. Explore beaches, lakes, creeks, rainforests, 4x4 tracks, sand-blows and endless scenery. A short 150m walk along the elevated boardwalk provides direct access to the beach.
PLEASE NOTE: we do have on-site Property Caretakers who reside in the adjacent unit at this complex. This is NOT a party Unit and all guests are asked to be respectful of both our caretakers and your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.
The entire community of Happy Valley is fully enclosed by a dingo fence to secure the safety of families. The Fraser Island Retreat is only a 50m walk and provides a restaurant, bar, fuel and general store. Happy Valley has access to full Telstra coverage.

We are usually campers but we enjoyed staying in accomodation as we were on K’Gari for our sons wedding. The wedding dinner was at the Retreat (Pub) and so it was very convenient. Having most of our family share the side by side units and sharing the outside kitchen worked very well.

A perfect property for a whole family catch up and holiday. With 8 kids ranging from 6 months to 8 years the set up was very appropriate. The caretakers Ian and Sandra were lovely.

Good place to come home to and the end of the day

This was a great base for us to have that was safe for the kids to be able to play and we could relax. We spent majority of the day out exploring the island and was only really here for late afternoon and night and mornings.
Beds were comfortable place was clean. Bruce the caretaker was lovely and an asset with his extensive knowledge of the local area. Shame he leaves in a week.
My only suggestions - possibly have a porta cot or two available for loan (save some room in the car) and top bunk railings as I had 2 kids who would have loved to sleep on the top bunk but no way was i letting them without a railing.
Also the screens on the windows need repair to stop bugs getting in so you can leave the windows open at night to cool the place down and maybe a darker blind. The morning son at 4.30am was nice and bright and kids woke up so early which made for a very long day.
In saying that we will be back for sure and enjoyed our holiday. Thank you!

Great spot if you are in bed and quiet by 10.
The caretakers were pretty uninviting this time we stayed. Enforcing music off at 9:50pm (which we did) then come out to send us to bed quite rudely at 1130. We were just sitting around playing cards. . Also when we first arrived we left a couple lights on while we went to the pub for a quick dinner. Before we could even say hello when we got back we pulled up straight away for “breaking the rules already”.
Made the time very uncomfortable. We won’t be back.

Easter Family Getaway
We have camped previously on Easter break and it constantly rains during the outings. Chose to stay at this location and it was well worth it. Close to everything and a great place to base yourself from to see all that Fraser has to offer. And yes it rained every evening, so was great to have a roof over our head.
Hosts Lisa and Colin were great.

We had a great holiday. Review as per Marloo listing

Fantastic location
The place has everything you need to enjoy Fraser including the pub a stones throw away.
First couple of days were hot so an outdoor fan would of been handy. Kids bunk rooms were also hot a few nights but apart from that great place. Good value for money.

The complex is perfect for those wanting to experience K’Gari without the hassle of camping. Easy walk to the beach and just opposite the Happy Valley shops. Lisa was very helpful throughout the booking and check in process. Highly recommend.

Loved every minute.
We found the property very accommodating to our group. The out door kitchen made it feel more like camping. We were lucky enough to have great neighbors who joined us most nights after dinner for drinks.
The care takers were amazing and ronda makes a killer espresso martini.
Couldn’t have asked for a better holiday house. We will definitely be back.

Staying at Eli
We had a great time staying at this accommodation. Yeah outdoor area was great even though it was winter. Will be coming again.
3.0 / 10.0
The property was great and clean, location perfect.
We got along great with our nbrs.
However the management made our stay very unpleasant.
On arrival the host didn't welcome us but started telling us about the rules when half of us weren't even out of our cars. They didn't even introduce themselves.
The man kept on walking around the back of the property once we got back from a day trip. looking into the rooms, on one occasion when my teenage daughter were changing.
On our 3rd night the kids were playing hide and seek ourside this was 7 at night. First the lady screamed at the kids for playing around there front door then the man came to us and told us of for letting the kids play.
1- they could of simply came to us and asked us to tel the kids to play elsewhere
2 - it is holidays and our groups kids were in bed by 8 every night
3 - you do not ever scream at some one else kids especially when there between 5-16
4 - the lady insinuated where bad perants, because we were drinking(it's holidays)and screamed at my borther when he went around to find out what the problem was.
To say they made the whole atmosphere and experience unpleasant is a understatement. We understand that there temporary caretakers and would def recommend to the owners to get rid of them.they do not want ppl to mess up there peace.
There treatment to guests is as unpleasant as it comes.
As a whole group we have been doing budget accommodation trips in most of Europe,Egypt
ect and have never been treated as badly.
Your property is wonderful pls change your caretakers we would hate for u to lose business over them. Would def come again once there gone.
