About this hostel

“Creature Comforts” is a unit complex built in the 1960’s for budget accommodation purposes on fabulous K'Gari (Fraser Island). Centrally located at Happy Valley on the World Heritage-Listed K'Gari (Fraser Island), Creature Comforts is 50 meters from Happy Valley Retreat and only 150 meters to 75 Mile Beach.

The Creature Comforts complex has 2 units available: “Marloo” sleeping up to 4 people and “Eli” sleeping up to 12 people. Each unit has its own private bathroom. There is an outdoor communal Camp Kitchen available to both Units.

** Please see separate listing for “Eli” if you wish to book both properties for larger groups up to 16 guests**

“Marloo” is a budget accommodation unit designed to be the next best thing to camping on the beach with toilets, hot showers, running water and 24 hour power (48v solar panel battery system) with back-up generator. No more dragging all the gear up the beach and losing hours of lost time setting up and pulling down your camp!

The Marloo Unit has 3 bedrooms and its own private bathroom (hot shower, toilet and vanity):

• Bedroom 1: 1 x Queen bed
• Bedroom 2: 1 x King Single bunk bed
• Bedroom 3: 1 x Single bunk bed

The Marloo has been freshly painted internally and the total complex is powered by a 48v solar panel battery system (with back-up generator). With fly-screens on the doors, it is comfortable during the warmer months with wall-mounted fans in all rooms.

There is an outdoor communal camp kitchen (shared by the 2 units) with large stainless steel bbq, kitchen sink, servery, complete with numerous huge 8-10 seater timber tables - perfect for alfresco dining. The Camp Kitchen also has 2 upright fridge/freezers (one for each unit). All pots/pans/plates/cutlery is supplied.

ADDED EXTRAS:
• All beds have mattress protectors and a pillow (you will need to bring your own bed sheets and towels)
• 24-hour power (48v solar power system with back-up generator)

Make your next stay at K'Gari (Fraser Island) hassle-free with all the basics already in place for you and the family. Marloo is a cheap alternative to camping for your next stay on the Island.

THE LOCATION:
Centrally located (approximately half-way up the eastern coast of K'Gari), Happy Valley is the perfect base to head north and explore the likes of Eli Creek, Maheno Shipwreck, Indian Head and Champagne Pools. Heading south will take you to Lake Wabby, Eurong and across the Island to Central Station and Lake McKenzie. Explore beaches, lakes, creeks, rainforests, 4x4 tracks, sand-blows and endless scenery. A short 150m walk along the elevated boardwalk provides direct access to the beach.

PLEASE NOTE: we do have on-site Property Caretakers who reside in the adjacent unit at this complex. This is NOT a party Unit and all guests are asked to be respectful of both our caretakers and your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.

The entire community of Happy Valley is fully enclosed by a dingo fence to secure the safety of families. The Fraser Island Retreat is only a 50m walk and provides a restaurant, bar, fuel and general store. Happy Valley has access to full Telstra coverage.

Creature Comforts is a great place to stay which caters to a large group perfectly. It is clean and tidy with great onsite caretakers (Russell and Jacquie) who were there if we needed them but otherwise left us to ourselves. It was my second time staying at the property, once for a family trip and this time for a boys fishing trip. I will definitely be back.
