About this bed and breakfast

Welcome to the "Downtowner". A truly inviting, enjoyable home away from home. This one bedroom suite with separate living room is located as part of a historic home built in 1901 in the town of Manteo with a little bit of everything for you to enjoy. This spacious property with its own porch and entrance. There is one king size bed, a complete tile bathroom with a walk-in shower and a relaxing living room for watching a movie or catching up on emails. The coastal decor and tranquility of the garden will relax you the whole time you're here. The porch is located next to a spacious back yard with a folly for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. There are lots of locally owned restaurants in the area for your dining pleasure. The unit's kitchenette consists of a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Downtown Manteo is home to Outer Banks Distillery, Ortegas Southwest Grill, The Avenue Grill, Olives, Poor Richards, Old Town Creamery, Front Porch, Charis Coffee Shop and The Pioneer Theater with a nightly showing at 8pm. Nearby is the Elizabeth II at Festival Park, the NC Aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens and The Lost Colony outdoor drama. Central location to downtown Manteo and easy drive to Outer Banks beaches. Very clean and quite roomy. Super comfortable bed and livingroom. Very modern bathroom with a terrific shower.

Extremely clean with beautiful landscaping and immaculate yard with exterior gazebo and covered porch. Both the gazebo and porch had chairs with small table. Interior has both wood siding and wood floors with throw rugs. A real gem near downtown Manteo.

We really enjoyed our stay. The sitting area is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Everything was clean. Patrick did a great job of communicating with us. The garden is gorgeous and a peaceful retreat. Thank you for your hospitality!

Manteo is a quaint little town along the sound. The Downtowner was in walking distance to shops. It was a great place for a quiet get away for two. The location was also easily assessable to the beach area and restaurants across the bridge!

Richard is an awesome host and was always in communication with us especially with Tropical Storm Idalia that went thru 48 hours before. You would never knew it came thru the Outer Banks. The place was very quite and wonderful for us. Walkable to the down area to eat and enjoy the local festivities. We will be back .

We loved our stay in Manteo and this guest house was clean, well-decorated, well-appointed, and perfect for our stay. The bed and furniture were very comfortable, and the garden is peaceful. We loved all of the shops and activities in and around Festival Park and the waterfront. The beaches are a quick drive across the bridge, as are many wonderful restaurants. We will return!

We have been vacationing at the Outer Banks for over 30 years. We have always stayed on or near the beach. We would always spend time in Manteo, so this time we decided to actually stay in Manteo. This 2-room unit was perfect for my wife and myself. It was very clean and well decorated. The garden area was beautiful. All communication with the owners was pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay in this unit again!

I don't write reviews unless they either don't meet my expectations or they really exceed. Otherwise I feel they are just fluff. This one is a great place. The first thing my wife always does is check for cleanliness. She was VERY PLEASED with the unit. There is everything you would need for a stay and we stayed a week. We loved how quiet the neighborhood was. I was a little concerned with parking on the street, but after seeing we were next to a police station, I felt so much better. There were zero issues and I didn't have a single worry about it. The area is really great. Your first thought when staying in the Outer Banks is to be on the water or Nags Head. I can say that the drive over to the beaches and other activities is not inconvenient at all. It is totally worth the ride.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this special place in downtown Manteo. The space with nicely decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the location and the proximity to all points of the outer banks. There was plenty of room in the living area and the gardens are gorgeous and well-kept. It is a real gem and look forward to a return trip!

This was like a little apartment. It was perfect for the 3 days we stayed. Walking distance to the waterfront and shops and restaurants. The rental had great sized rooms and very pleasantly furnished. There was a microwave, refrigerator with a little freezer, and a coffee maker. You aren’t going to cook a meal here, but perfect for breakfast or heating up leftovers. Dishes and utensils readily available. The area was very quiet during our stay-in a residential area. Loved it and would stay again.

The house was perfect for our weekend getaway. It is decorated with great taste and just cozy in general. You have a view of the house’s pretty garden and is located at walking distance of the Rum distillery and other attractions in Manteo. Communication with Patrick was great and instructions were very clear. Would definitely come back.

We stayed here for a long weekend. The Downtowner was perfect. Everything was clean, just as pictured, and the gardens were even more beautiful in person. We could have stayed on the porch all day! The property is within walking distance to everything in Downtown Manteo. The owner was very responsive prior to check-in, and we had no issues during our stay. The location was quiet and private. We are already planning a return trip!

This cottage could not be better located and the owner is perfectly prepared for guests and their anticipated needs. The owner has prepared concise, clear and thorough instructions to make your stay easy and worry free for you and him as well. The accommodations are excellent, we designed and maintained. The bed and bedding extremely comfortable. I have stayed in dozens of short term rentals in 10 different countries. This experience is the ideal experience.

Excellent location. Beautiful relaxing yard with gazebo. Comfortable accommodations with essentials. Only thing needed were more comfortable pillows. Usually bring my own but forgot. Roxie and Patrick were excellent hosts.

This is my second time staying at this cottage. It is decorated nicely and located in the heart of the cute town of Manteo! Just an FYI to anyone planning to visit this area, almost everything closes by 9:00 PM, even on weekends. We typically spend the days exploring and end up eating a late dinner, so we were scrambling last minute to find somewhere to eat on Friday night. We ended up driving 30+ minutes away for an open restaurant.
