This home is lovely, spacious, well-equipped, and confortable. It was a perfect place for us during our week at Chautauqua. It is just outside the Chautauqua grounds, which we accessed following a lovely path from the house to Chautauqua’s Elm Gate. We made frequent use of the two wonderful porches and enjoyed cooking in the well-supplied and roomy kitchen. Couldn’t have been happier!

The owners have a lovely home and take great care of it. They were excellent hosts. They addressed every detail. Well-furnished, stocked kitchen, great beds, sheets, towels and hand towels were highest quality. So many nice features. Thank you.

This property was exactly as described, and more! We stayed with our parents so we could take them easily to Chautauqua Institution. The location was perfect, and the neighbors were extremely welcoming! Kim, our host, was amazing! She communicated almost instantly when we had questions. We couldn’t have asked for better!! The house is perfect for multiple people. The kitchen and dining area are designed for entertaining, so preparing meals for 7 was easy. It came fully stocked with utensils, dining ware, and cookware. The large great room was perfect to space out, and the porch was nice to hang out on. Bedrooms were spacious with in room sinks. This made things very easy with multiple people. Thank you Kim for a fantastic stay!

House was so impressive! It was exactly what our family needed to have a perfect 4th of July week.
Kim was very helpful and friendly too! Can’t wait to come back for another stay.

We had a wonderful time and this home is perfect for attending Chautauqua! Large, beautifully appointed home, loved the porches and kitchen, comfortable beds. Be prepared for highway noise and a lot of stairs - 2 flights to get up to the house and 2 more flights to get to all but 1 bedroom. Host attended to a lot of details to make guests comfortable- thank you!

This was our second year staying in this unique Arts & Crafts style home and once again we had a wonderful experience. The addition of air conditioning was a bonus this year, although the weather was so nice we hardly even needed it! The home is well-appointed, including everything we needed. This location provides an easy walk to Chautauqua and even offered lakefront access which was wonderful for kayaking and peaceful sunset viewing. We highly recommend this location for others and look forward to returning again next year! Thank you Kim! We greatly appreciate all that you did to make our stay so enjoyable!

The week was humid and the new AC worked well to get the humidity out of the house. It was well equipped. We cooked in the kitchen or used the gas grill 5 of the nights. All were clean and they had a corkscrew all the kitchen tools needed for a variety of cooking.

This home has been well loved and cared for. The community is small and private. The kitchen is well appointed with everything a family would need. It is located on a busy road, so for us, it was not as quiet as we hoped on the front porch, but the back porch of the home is much better. To enter the home, you must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs or walk up a hill to the front of the house. If you have elderly family members or guests who are not able to do the stairs, just be aware, which is my reason for the 4 star rating for the description. My family's elderly friends were not able to visit, due to the amount stairs.
The hosts were a delight to work with, I would recommend this property.

We loved the house and it was very well stocked with appliances and kitchen items. We enjoyed setting on the front porch mornings and evenings. I would highly recommend that the property description include that there is NO air conditioning. I didn't catch that when I was checking the listing out. It was a very warm week when we were there, and most nights the thermostat upstairs showed it was between 83 - 85 degrees when we went to bed. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the house is very close to a busy highway and there is a lot of traffic noise. This became even worsts when trying to sleep because we had every window open to try and cool the house off. There were fans available in the upstairs bedrooms, but none in the Master on the lower level. Just keep this in mind if you are planning on renting during the summer months. The fireplace between the dining room and living room is gorgeous and I can only imagine how wonderful that would be in the winter. Overall I would recommend this beautiful home, just keeping in mind if you book for the summer months to be able to handle no A/C.

We rented this property with friends while our teenagers participated in a 4-day dance intensive at CHQ institute. It was conveniently located for a very short drive or a nice walk to the Elm gate near the studio. The living area was bigger than it appears in pictures. There is no central AC but the woods and breeze made it mostly comfortable at night. The owner also placed Chill Wells in the bedrooms. It was hard to tell how much they cooled the rooms, but nobody had trouble sleeping!
Some of the appliances were older and a bit of a challenge (coffee pot and microwave specifically) but the rest of the place was pretty perfect!

The location was perfect as we planned to spend our days at the Chautauqua Institution. This Arts & Crafts style home was well-appointed and so very comfortable. The window seat especially captured our hearts. We look forward to our next visit!

The property is very nice and a pleasant place to stay. The only small issue is the road noise at night. Beautiful, well-kept, spacious, and easy to be comfortable in. Ut exceeded our expectations. Kim was very gracious and went out of her way to meet our needs.

We absolutely loved this stunning home in picturesque Chautauqua Lake!! My husband and I visited with my Mom and our infant son as a little vacation before my maternity leave was over. We were all so comfortable in this house which had everything we could possibly need.
The house was close to the lake but not directly on it. It was only a short walk in a beautiful neighborhood to the community dock. The lake was really clean and you can get in the water from the dock (it didn’t seem too deep right by the dock so I would Not recommend jumping in!!)
The house has a beautiful kitchen and everything you could possibly need to cook a fine meal. We used the grill on the front porch as well which worked well for our steak dinner.
The bathrooms were all well appointed with plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc.
The bedroom downstairs was probably the most dark (if you require a completely dark room for sleeping). The house is designed so the upstairs two bedrooms allow for the sunrise to enter your bedroom (whether you want it to or not!). The design of this house is grand and stunning and you will not be disappointed. So many charming touches throughout.
We look forward to returning next summer!

Great Custom Home near CHQ
We loved this spacious, well appointed, and well equipped custom home. The location is ideal, particularly for pursuing activities at CHQ. The wooded setting is lush and peaceful, with the exception of some road noise when the windows are open.

We loved the house. So many amenities and it was quite beautiful. Both the front and the back porches were enormous and we spent a lot of time there. Unfortunately all of the bedrooms face a busy street and we heard traffic a lot. Probably a 10 minute walk to CHQ and the lake. Otherwise perfect.

This house was extremely spacious, and clean
Cozy, only 2 parking spaces, we had cool weather so fans were great, but A/C units would be better for the summer months- thanks for sharing your beautiful home with US

It was perfect place for our two children and their grandparents to reconnect after 16 months of quarantine. Wonderful location near the Institute.

Wow, the home is absolutely beautiful! 10 out of 10, probably. one of the nicest we have stayed in. It has ALL the amenities you need to cook. Gas stove and large refrig is a bonus! Lots of places to sit, and huge dining table. I love that it was walking distance to Chautauqua Institute. Perfect for a family get together. Beds were comfortable, and rooms are spacious. If you are sound sensitive, it is very close to a busy road so you can hear the traffic when windows are open which was a challenge for my sister/myself when sleeping. One other thing to keep in mind is that there are 2 sets up reasonably steep steps to get into home. My elderly father is 88 , he is very fit and had no issue at all, however, his wife was a bit more challenged. The front of the house faces the busy street and the back of the house is where you pull in. You could walk around to the front of the house if you did not want to do stairs. Other thing to note is that the upstairs bedrooms have a large glass window that allows you to look down until the living area, however, the light does filter into the room if someone stays up later than you. Overall, I would recommend this BEAUTIFUL! home! The host was communicative and even mailed my Dad his extra set of car keys that he left at their home.

Great stay within walking distance of the lake/public dock!
I couldn’t be happier with our stay. The house is fantastic inside. The pictures do not do it justice. Much bigger than i anticipated and very homey. They had everything for us and dealing with the owner was quick and easy. She even helped me identify some local places to provide food services and transportation. 10 out of 10. Would love to rent again.

The online pictures don’t do this home justice. The wood work detail is gorgeous, and the floor plan is well thought out for an open feeling, while still feeling like a cozy (not small!) cottage. The fireplace is a real centerpiece. The owner thought of every detail with regard to amenities and stocking the kitchen that makes any “chef” guest happy. Home is a short walk to the Lake. Wooded surroundings added to the peace and sense of solitude. Highly recommend renting this home (unless it’s a week that we plan to come back! Haha).
