About this house rental
They say you can’t go home again, but this beautiful, historic 112 year old home in downtown Waco, Texas proves different. Each visitor is certain to fall in love with her charm, and handcrafted details of a bygone era. Constructed in a time when people prided themselves on craftsmanship, the beauty and details remain timeless today. The moment you drive up to the property, you will be greeted by a grand front porch with large columns, carved details, and white wicker rockers. Perfect for enjoying morning coffee or sipping afternoon ice tea. Once guests step inside, they will be visually treated to handcrafted decor such as the original stained glass windows, transoms, original hand carved fireplace mantel which matches the design in the original stained glass windows, hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and even a sleep in porch with original glass windows. Other timeless details include a claw foot tub, and a pedestal sink marked with the actual date the sink was constructed. This fabulous home started construction in 1907 and was completed in 1910. It has passed through three more families before miraculously returning to a family member, the great, great granddaughter of the original owners.
Growing up, she had heard many stories of the home and its beauty but was under the impression that it was no longer standing. Then, serendipitously, on her birthday, in the summer of 2019, long time family friend called to see if she knew who these people were that built this gorgeous 112 year old home and had the same last name (maiden) as she. The friend looking for real estate in Waco, had stumbled across this gorgeous historic home in downtown Waco within walking distance to the farmers market, the Silos and Austin Ave businesses. The moment she heard the description of the home, she knew it was her great great grandparents! With blessings from her friend, she purchased the home and has lovingly worked to restore the original beauty while adding modern and personal touches throughout the home. Each bedroom has been decorated with a theme or nod to family members, local artists and friends.
Our home is walking distance (less than half a mile) to the Magnolia Silos, Bakery, and new shopping complex. Also close by are Spice Village, Farmers Market, interesting shops & restaurants and about a mile to Baylor’s campus. We are also only 15 minutes to BSR Cable Park.

The location was great as it was close to a lot of places we wanted to go. It was a beautiful home, very clean and the AC worked great! The owner/manager was very informative with instructions etc...
We had a great time and would absolutely stay there again.

The house was beautiful and clean and perfect for a group. Loved that you could walk to downtown area. Some in our group have already rented the house again for a visit next fall. The host was also very helpful & made sure propane for the outdoor grill was delivered for us.

Great communication. Clean. Everything you’d want in a VRBO

I had always been skeptical about using houses for family stays instead of just going to a hotel....this was my first house....it will definitely will not be my last. The house/host were beautiful and perfect....easy...clean....organized.....it was if I was staying in my home. That being said...thank you to our host....your beautiful home not only provided for us a place to stay......but a place for a family to bond and make memories..we will be forever grateful.

Just cancel all your other reservations and get to this little slice of heaven (AKA Fannies on 5th) when you’re in Waco! We will never stay anywhere else! We traveled from Dallas, Carrollton, and Austin—3 married couples ages 65-70 that met as young single adults in our Sunday School class 44 years ago. This 100+ year old home is beautifully and tastefully decorated, as clean as can be, spacious, comfy, and inviting. It has some bright & colorful stain glass windows, period architecture, and lot & lots of space for catching up & visiting with family or friends. We all slept well and were all comforted with the electronic gate that provided privacy for our vehicles away from the busy city street. I promise, you cant go wrong with this 5 bedroom, 3 bath 2 story, 2 upper and 2 lower outside porches.

The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was a lovely home and suited us well with the right amount of bedrooms. The only issues we had was the downstairs bedrooms, one was cold and the other warm. Also one of the upstairs bathrooms we could not regulate the water temperature in the shower.

This property was the perfect location for my family. We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from Baylor, and my mom‘s 83rd birthday, all at Christmas time. There was plenty of room, and the property is just decorated so well! The large dining table and comfortable furnishings, along with extra decorative pieces for the period of the house made everything beautiful but the Christmas decorations really added a wonderful festivity. The windows, fireplaces staircase, and porches are magnificent! We felt very secure in the property. The kitchen has been nicely updated. We found everything that we needed and appreciated the wonderful coffee bar. The property was very clean and was just absolutely perfect! I don’t have any complaints.

We met in Waco for Memorial Day. House is beautiful and convenient to downtown attractions. We walked to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning. Walked down to the Brazos and through beautiful Cameron Park. Walked to downtown restaurants and coffee shops. The house is spacious with historical character and charm. Huge backyard and parking in the back. We had coffee and visited on the porch, played games around the coffee table in the living room, watched movies. Kitchen has nice coffee bar and is well stocked. Bathrooms have nice towels, shampoo, hairdryer, etc. Beds/pillows were comfortable.

Beautiful old home with a great story. Just the right amount of update and vintage !! Clean and open with an awesome stocked kitchen and dining room to seat 8 people… more room at the bar. Each of the 5 available bedrooms are beautifully decorated differently. Six ladies met from all over on a girls trip!! The house is absolutely wonderful. We have already tried to book a return trip later this year.

Loved the house, great for large family, a couple of families or a group like me, who took my son and 6 friends for a football game. Plenty of bathrooms, lots of space and loved the selection of games and things to do. Myself, LOVED the history of the space. And bonus, very convenient to get around to the best places to visit in WACO!

Our family ranged in age from 1 to 63. Home was clean and designed in a way that every room felt special and homey. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and space in between. The millwork and stained glass windows are so beautiful. Someone did an excellent job maintaining this home. Property manager reached out right away to see if we needed anything. We don’t have complaints and would definitely book this home again. A couple of suggestions for future would be more towels and cookware.

Perfect getaway for large groups!
This property is STUNNING! It's an older home that brings nostalgia into full bloom. This home is built very well & still has many original features. The owners have added many new convenience features and appliances without taking away from the character of the home. Hardwood floors, window transiums, antique furniture & wardobes (didn't have closets back in the day), enclosed & open porches large enough to gather groups to visit & my personal favorite, the upstairs living room! 😀
My 11 friends from all over the world gathered here for our dance fitness convention (based out of WACO - REFIT® Revolution) & this home was PERFECT! We invited some other instructors over for a spaghetti supper & there was plenty of room for everyone.
We did have a couple questions about an appliance, wifi & possibly an extra stock pot for spaghetti. When I messaged the agency in charge of the home, he was at our location within 10 mins with an additional stock pot for our supper. He was so sweet, personable, southern hospitality at it's best. I never felt rushed, 100% professional.
It was 106 degrees, REALLY hot for June in Texas. I was hearing of other properties' air conditioning units going out as they couldn't keep up with the demands of the homes. I inquired with our agency manager if we should be careful with it & he said that the house is built so well, he's never had an issue. And he's right. Even with our extra friends over for supper that evening, the home never got warm inside.
Lastly, beds were so comfortable, bedrooms were large, layout was perfect, staircase is phenonmenal & dining room open into the kitchen was a great spot for us all to gather & chat each morning. We even enjoyed a devotion out on the front porch watching the sunrise.
I didn't hear anyone mention that they ran out of hot water. Not sure if they have a tankless water heater/on demand hot water, but the water was nice & hot all the time. That's saying ALOT for 12 women living together with 4 FULL BATHROOMS! I know I enjoyed a nice long soak in the claw foot tub each morning!
I asked the ladies about staying again, everyone said without hesitation YES! There are many introverts in our group so we loved the spaces to hide away: enclosed porch upstairs above front porch, reading nook by staircase, back upstairs porch, downstairs backyard deck, front porch, laundry room & separate, enclosed entrance for kitchen. Just wish the driveway wasn't so narrow w/ the concrete short walls.

Had a great time!
The house was amazing! Loved the location as well! If it hadn’t been so hot, we really could have walked to everything.

We stayed at Fannie’s and had a wonderful time. There were five of us and we each had our own room. It was great. They supplied coffee at the cutest coffee bar in the kitchen. There was lots of construction going on while we were in Waco. It will be great once it is done. The neighborhood around the property is quite run down. The property itself was wonderful and the host was responsive to our needs. We would stay there again.
