It was all good

Everything about our stay at Pentre Barns was just perfect. Marion, our host, could not have been more welcoming putting everyone at ease, we felt at home instantly. Even the dogs made us all feel welcome! The accommodation was beyond expectations and again Marion could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. The barn has been converted to an exceptionally high standard. The barn is beautifully clean, all the bedrooms had exceptional views across the valley, gorgeous bathrooms, fabulous kitchen with everything you need. There is plenty of hot water for showers on those cold days and a lovely warm log fire. We all want to come back again very soon. Marion was also very understanding when, by mistake, we took one set of keys home with us - could not have been kinder. We loved Pentre Barn and Marion.
There is nothing we didn't like - beautiful place just on the border of Abergavenny.

Marian met us and was friendly, warm and professional in the way she conducted herself, the property was immaculate and some treats were left for us, can’t praise high enough.

Gorgeous location, beautifully renovated barn!

Marion the host, left some treats for us to settle in with. Fresh local eggs and lovely bottle of wine, which we cracked open to watch the sunset!

Absolutely stunning property set in the welsh hills. The owners were a delight and were so helpful. Would 100% recommend and would stay again.

A great barn with big rooms and everything you need provided for you with AMAZING VIEWS
A great place but being connected to the owners house we heard the dogs barking a lot when the owner wasn’t there, got a bit annoying

property was absolutely gorgeous with so much style and everything the owner done for us on our visit, it was very relaxed, with the most amazing views and the location was perfect!

The hosts and the location are amazing! Fantastic views, outside space which would be lovely in warmer weather as would the balcony. Lots of special welcoming touches. Beautifully converted, I would definitely go back. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathrooms were great, everything was spotless!
As the host explained it is a Working small holding and the rentable part of the property is attached to that of the hosts, which meant some noise transfer, which was not a problem for me and my daughter but may not suit everyone, and I would like to mention that the stairs are not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The location was exceptional, the views from the balcony every morning were a delight. Marion and Ian were lovely hosts who were very attentive to our needs and provided everything we needed. The house was extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed. The beds were comfortable and the house was warm and cosy. We will definitely be back!
Nothing.

I've rented numerous houses in this area over the past 20 years, Pentre Barn is the best of the lot. The owners, Marion and Ian are extremely friendly and hospitable. My family had a wonderful, relaxing time, and I would definitely stay again.

Such a comfortable place. It was much bigger than I had imagined from the photos. Beds and sofas were v comfy. Marion made us feel very welcome even with our very noisy children 9&6. On arrival Marion had made fresh bread for us and left a lovely platter of fruit, some wine and fresh eggs.. and lots of other stuff that made things easier, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tabs, tea bags etc etc.
We live in London and have barely seen countryside since covid so this was exactly what we wanted. Sheep, birds, green fields and fresh air. We were very lucky with the weather and it was sunny and bright most days. But on the rainy day we were very comfortable staying in the house with all the mod cons and the lovely wood burner. On the dry days we enjoyed a bbq on the terrace, cricket on the lawn, little walks up and down the lane and sitting near the beautiful cherry tree which was in full bloom in April.
They have a short cut to the main road so it is very easy to get away - shopping in Abergavenny, lots of shops, huge morrisons. We also drove further, down to the gower peninsula for beaches, to the national botanic gardens and we did a late night trip to the Brecon Beacons visitor centre for maximum star gazing opportunity on a clear night. We also dragged the kids up sugar loaf mountain!
We would love to return when more attractions are open, the big pit, the caves, the animal park... and the restaurants too. Although we enjoyed dominos pizza from Abergavenny and fish and chips from Mardy.
The stairs are solid oak and a bit uneven/“vintage” - none of us fell but I was a bit nervous going down as I’ve had a hip replacement. Marion has installed stair gates which would be v reassuring if we had younger kids and good handrails so you can be careful and take your time. It’s warm enough in the house to have bare feet and probably safer than socks or my dodgy slippers!

The property and hosts exceeded our expectations. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the hosts and some very thoughtful touches. The quality of the barn was outstanding as was the attention to detail, there was everything you could need in the barn. We had plans to explore the local area but ended up staying in enjoying the fire and environment of the barn our entire stay. Very comfy beds and cosy bedrooms. Can not recommend this property enough. Thank you for an amazing weekend.
