About this house rental
Valley View Barn is a Grade II listed stone barn conversion, located in the Peak National Park near to Ashbourne and Bakewell. Beautifully located with scenic walks and cycle path from its door step. Valley View Barn is designed with a contemporary country-styled ambience. This is the perfect place to unwind after your sight seeing and walks with your family or friends.
THE POSSIBILITY OF HIRING YOUR OWN HOT TUB, PRIVATE CHEF, COCKTAIL CLASS, MURDER MYSTERY NIGHT, BEAUTY & HAIR THERAPIST, OUTDOOR YOGA INSTRUCTOR & KEEP FIT INSTRUCTOR, IS AVAILABLE TO OUR GUESTS TO CREATE THIER OWN UNIQUE PEAK DISTRICT BREAKAWAY AND CELEBRATION AT THE BARN!
Please email Sophie to talk about any of these in house services or about the various activities around the area such as a Spa day, clay pigeon shooting, Go Ape, quad biking, paint-balling, treasure hunts, gem-panning, water rafting and canoeing etc.
The Barn is adjacent to a public footpath that joins the High Peak, Tissington Trail and conveniently connects to Carsington Water (the famous Ellen McCarthur learnt to sail); offering our guests good walking and cycling opportunities from the holiday cottage.
There is so much to do, see, and explore in this area with some of the finest country stately homes in England to visit, such as: Chatsworth House - famous by the documentary series and also the much loved television series of Pride & Prejudice. Jane Austen fans will love the estate and gardens as much as the children! There is also the hauntingly enchanting Haddon Hall to visit which is a particular favourite of mine, where Jayne Eyre was screened from and are both an easy scenic car ride of 25 minutes away. Bakewell is a stunning Peak Park town and every Monday has a large busy market and various shops to explore. Bakewell is still open for business on a Sunday and also gives you a chance to wander along the River Derwent and feed the ducks and maybe take a bite of the real Bakewell Pudding!
If your love is for the sea, even in the middle of the countryside we can offer you Carsington Water as an alternative. A stunning setting just a couple of miles away you can do most water sports from or take a gentle walk around the area. Theme parks are readily available and the most famous in the area is Alton Towers only a 30-minute drive away and is set in stunning scenery. 20 minutes drive North through quiet lanes takes you to Gullivers Kingdom for the younger members of the group or The heights of Abraham exploring the caves at Matlock Bath.
The walks are endless and depending on your ability we have mountains to hills to valleys surrounding the Peak Park to explore. One of the most famous gentle walks is the Dovedales and is only a 5-minute drive away. Take a visit to Alstonefield or Hartington, Ilam and of course Tissington to see some of our local award-winning villages in the area.
The accommodation includes:
Enter into a welcoming open-plan Kitchen and Dining area with country painted kitchen cupboards, exposed beams, and a table and bench to seat 14 persons. The Kitchen and Dining Area is open plan alongside the Lounge, complete with a modular sofa, a wall-mounted Smart TV, Coffee table and boardgames/ books.. A door leading from the kitchen to a wide hall with a Utility Room (complete with a large fridge/ freezer and washing machine) and Three bedrooms - all of which can be made up as twin or king rooms, and the family en-suite with shower over bath.
Above these bedrooms, are two more bedrooms complete with their own en-suite shower rooms. These bedrooms host exposed beams and can be either made as twin rooms or king size rooms.
Leading up from the lounge is a further two double bedrooms, complete with their own en-suite shower rooms.
**There is a travel cot and highchair available upon request **
** Hot Tub can be organised with recommended suppliers **
The patio located immediately outside the property is secluded, providing views of the surrounding countryside and is a spectacular area to sit and relax after a day of sightseeing or walking. A built-in BBQ also sits on the patio. The large 8- acre field in front of the cottage can be used by our guests, for picnics, ball games or even flying kites!
If you are interested in hiring a hot tub, please contact the owner for more details on booking.

Lovely place to stay for a birthday celebration with family.
Super walks from barn so didn’t use car all weekend.
Weather great, would have liked some more comfortable outdoor seating.

Booked Valley View for a weekend with family. It was the perfect setting, stunning views across the countryside, remote with no neighbours and a huge field for the kids to play in.
Property was clean and very well equipped. Perfect space to relax as a family. Highly recommend!

Had a great time here, the property isn't huge, but 13 people felt comfortable and the living /dining space didn't feel small, even when we had outside catering in.
Sophie gave us loads of advice and tips for things to do nearby and the maps were there were useful to have.
All in, perfect sized property for 4 nights

We planned a weekend break to celebrate our friend's upcoming wedding and the barn did not disappoint! Sophie was great at keeping us updated and ensuring we had everything we needed. The location and views at the barn were incredible, and it was well within easy access of lots of areas (restaurants, pubs, walks, attractions, villages). The decor of the barn was beautiful.

Super venue for a large group
A great barn, surrounded by countryside, for a large group of people. There are 7 bedrooms with options of king or twin beds. The main room is large with sitting, dining and kitchen areas altogether. This was ideal for our group of 12 girl friends who meet up each year. Great country walks and we visited Chatsworth. Great facilities in the house, although we hired a chef for one evening (excellent) and walked for a Sunday lunch to Brassington (about 45mins. On the country lane).

Getaway to the Dales
Well equipped and quiet with great scenery all around. Good directions to locate and within easy distance of anywhere you might wish to visit in Derbyshire. Lots of helpful visitors info in the barn. We had a very enjoyable stay.
