About this house rental

Step back in time at Matesbury, a centrally set shack in a quiet street in the heart of Stansbury. A lazy stroll to beaches, shops and the ever popular Dalrymple pub. Adjacent to the football oval, bowling club and golf course plus only 1km from the boat ramp and jetty for some of the best fishing, boating and crabbing on the peninsula.

Set on a huge block with a fully fenced in yard with ample space suitable for small children and dogs. This house features 3 bedrooms (1 Double, 1 Double, 1 Bunk + single + trundle) as well as portacot( upon request if required) Laundry, 2 showers (no bath) and 2 toilets. Dining room and separate kitchen with microwave, side by side fridge freezer and dishwasher. Comfortable living area with air conditioning split system and television (and a separate tv in the kids room).

Large separate games room with table tennis / snooker table plus undercover gas bbq, fish cleaning facilities and outdoor setting. Ample parking for cars, trailers and boats with hardstand for washing down. Three verandah areas provide plenty of opportunity to find some peace and quiet.

Quilts and pillows are provided all you need to bring are towels.

* Please note that further bedrooms at the front of the house are sectioned off but you will have the house to yourself at all times.

We had a great time..place was clean slept 8 comfortably.. No WIFI which was amazing..We loved and enjoyed our stay unfortunately wasnt long enough..fully fenced for the dog..two showers and two toilets was a plus..everything we needed was there..great spot we will be back..

Over all, it was a great place to stay especially having a Dog. The kids enjoyed it and as adveritsed it is a Fisherman's getaway. One of the beds was covered in baby powder with dirty sheets (slept on top of the bed). Instructions were clear about check in. Ideal for a boys getaway.

This place is handily located and could be quite special if a little more care taken in cleanliness and presentation. The owners seem to think that all guests will trash their property so therefore they furnish it with street finds and very basic utensils. There are no flyscreens on the bedroom windows. No hand soap or dishcloths to wipe down benches. The teflon frying pan is scratched beyond use and should be discarded. Best to BYO duvets and covers and if you like to drink wine from a glass rather than a scuffed plastic one BYO those as well....and byo soap and probably a cover or 2 for the old couch and chairs. There is a games shed which could appeal to younger guests and really it could be a fun option for a group of young people to have a gathering. Just not that special a stay if you like clean pleasant surroundings.

The beds need to be upgraded to Queen size. A better selection of wine glasses (glass not plastic) is required. The lounge is comfortable to sit in but difficult to get in and out off. The games room was dirty. The BBQ had to be cleaned before being used.

We stayed for 4 days - backyard very neat and tidy for our dog. Close to the town and shops. Only 2 issues - the door to the games room, couldn't lock properly - unable to get bolt through. Guests before may have found he same problem as a brick was against the door when we arrived. The other issue was the fishy smell of the fridge and freezer - should have been cleaned out after fish being stored in it.

The house had everything we needed (and a lot that we didn't use but that would be perfect for a larger/younger group: ping png table, etc.) Beds were comfortable, water pressure in the showers strong, plenty of hot water, coffee and tea provided, nice large grassy backyard for our little doggy, and only a ten minute walk to the waterfront and local pub. Perfect home base to come back to after our adventures.

There were no hand rails at the steps making it difficult having to rely on each other. Nowadays this is important to those who find it difficult getting up steps. Also there is no ramp for those who may need it to access the house. If you not going to supply these it should be mentioned in the description on the Stayz website. Found the floor was dusty especially under the bed. Our dog found a ball under there so the bed being on casters was easy to move to retrieve it. It had about 2 cm off on it and completely filthy under there. Obviously has not been vacuumed for sometime. The laundry light did not work so had to go use or touch. When the description mentioned 2 showers and 2 toilets you would think this meant in a bathroom! We couldn't believe that there was no bathroom. The floor tiles in the showers had mold and we really didn't feel like showering but we had brought with us a shower mat just as well. We have stayed in many places around Australia and overseas and this is the first encounter that there was no bathroom. Not very hygienic to clean teeth and shave in the same area you hand wash cloths. We used the washing machine only once and found the inside lid and soap dispenser area filthy. The kitchen rubbish bin lid was dirty. The kitchen cupboards need replacing as the ones under the sink you needed to close at the same time otherwise wouldn't close. The cold tap was impossible to use as it was so tight not only to turn on but to turn off. When we had to fill the kettle we would go into the laundry, this is not acceptable. It is a shame the owner hasn't some money to get it up to standard as it could be a wonderful place to stay. We felt cheated that we have paid to cleaning cost when obviously the person doesn't do the job properly. I am surprised the Stayz passes this standard of accommodation. I know this may sound critical but as you requested our feedback we might as well tell it honestly.

Photos always make a place look better than is but I guess that's the general idea. The side door where we were instructed to enter was faulty and we had to arrange access through back door. Side screen door needs repair. Cold water tap in kitchen also needs attention as was very hard to turn off. Hot water was great....plentiful and HOT ...shower good too. Were disappointed in that there were no instructions to operate anything.....eg there were two air cons...could find no instruction booklets. Eventually worked it out ourselves but should not have had to. Lounge suite has certainly seen better days and we needed to make use of all the available cushions for padding. LOVE Stansbury!...it is a lovely spot ....quiet , relaxing, open spaces, no traffic lights and very little traffic.

We enjoyed our little getaway to Matesbury. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was spacious and well equipped. The pool/table tennis table was enjoyed by us all! The kids appreciated all the games on offer and dvds too. We enjoyed the quiet street and short walk to the beach, playground and Dalrymple pub where we had lovely meals with great service. We would recommend Matesbury for a fun stay!

Very easy to find property with wide access driveway and a huge dog friendly secure Back Yard. House had all we needed and more, large fridge freezer, good kitchen, good beds, large TV and comfy lounges. We didn't use the large Games Room, however it would be wonderful for children! Property well worth considering.
