This is my second time staying here. We like the area and ease of getting around small communities. The stay was relaxing , quiet and cozy!

Good shower. Good water pressure. Newer plumbing fixtures. Lots of morning light in kitchen. Would have appreciated a few more kitchen utensils, pans, small appliances. Exterior yard needs a good clean up. Fairly close to town grocery store- about 5-7 minutes. Recommend local pizza- Pub 35. And Blacksmith Shop - bar and grill.

To start off when we first pulled in the “front” yard was a mess we didn’t even know we were at the right place. Once we realized we were I went to get the key out of the lock box and there was no key inside. I messaged the host and got zero response. Luckily a back sliding door was open to get inside. When walking inside it did not look like the pictures. The bathroom was dirty. The mirror and sink had soap/toothpaste splattered everywhere. Dirty towel on the floor. Bathroom trash was not emptied. When it came time to cook pots and pans were greasy and horrible options for utensils. The amount of bugs inside was horrible. When outside to have a campfire the mosquitos were horrible. There was a dead mouse under the deck for my dogs to get to. The yard was filled with a bunch of junk in the woods and by there garage just laying everywhere. Very trashy looking. The host never responded to any of my messages the entire trip. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cute cabin but not at all how it was advertised and not taken care of or cleaned.

Cute and close to Big Butternut Lake and not too far from Balsam Lake. Much better than local motels. My 2 year old grandson enjoyed the space

We rented this property because it offered kayak rental, proximity to the twin cities and the allowed pets. The reason for the rating is a few things we encountered during our stay. First, I went to start the grill to cook the steaks we had purchased in Luck, I could not get the valve to turn on the rusty propane tank. After bringing this to the host attention, we were told "we check the tank after every rental, we must have tightened it too much." We had a second option for dinner, so we turned on the oven. The oven was dirty enough that it filled the kitchen with smoke and set off the fire alarm in the living room. We had to open doors and windows to get the smoke out. The air conditioning (a small single window unit) did NOT have the power to cool the space rapidly after letting in all the hot summer air. It was also disappointing that we rented the kayaks and we needed to clean out spider webs and get the dirt off the sides before we could put them in the vehicle to drive them to the lake. It was poorly stocked with only 3 glasses available to use (there are plenty of coffee mugs) and there were no wine glasses. We did leave the corkscrew behind that we purchased so the next people would not have to purchase one. Lastly, I failed to read the list of things provided and assumed there would be a hairdryer available, since every other VRBO we have rented has had one available. Make sure you pack a hairdryer.

My husband and I enjoyed the cabin very much. It was clean, pictures were accurate, and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked nicely.
The hosts answer quickly if you have a question.
And we enjoyed going down to the lake to fish. It was perfect for us. And we loved the decor!!

So the mechanical key lock had to be just right or the box could not be opened. Next the WiFi could not be accessed. I had to use my phone with verizon network to access my e-mail and the TV I had to use my Prime account. Other wise it was OK. The cost was way out of line because the web site made you buy insurance. If the owner was there they would have gotten an earful. We bought because it was close to Milltown.

There was no toilet paper at the property, luckily we had a roll in the car so we used our own. The evening of our stay we saw a mouse pop out from the gap between the baseboard and the floor near the patio door. It makes you question the cleanliness of the floors.
Other quirks of this property / stay:
- no door on the bedroom
- only bunkbeds and couches, no 2 person beds
- carpet had a musty smell
- clock was an hour off, not a problem, just indicative of a lack of attention to detail on this property
These are easily fixable. Not a bad property, just badly needs the cleaner / caretaker to be proactive and oay more attention.

House was small but cozy on a treed private lot - only one neighbor in view - and on a road that doesn't have a lot of traffic, but when it does, vehicles speed past rather noisily. Lower bunk beds and futon (where we slept) were comfortable and fans were provided in the bedroom and near the futon. We played cards and ate in the living room or outside because the kitchen was not big enough for a regular table and chairs. We watched Netflix on the one rainy day during our stay and there was plenty of room on the two couches for the three of us to sprawl out. We could hear owls at night and were a short drive to the lake and graveled walking paths. Host was easily accessible and responsive to questions.

This is a quaint little place, not much to look at from the outside but inside redone nicely. Small but comfortable.
Missing some amenities like soap in shower but got by. Front door deadbolt needs to be adjusted, had issues locking when leaving. Grill could use some updating very rusty but was functional.
Firewood could use some weather protection as it was all really wet and unusable. Yard could use some cleanup.
Great little deck off the back, quiet surroundings. No real exit instructions as listed on note on fridge, did find some on the VRBO site.

We rented the house because we attended a 50th anniversary party in balsam Lake. It is recently updated with tongue and groove pine and cedar tongue and groove. Great location for us only five minutes to where we had to go. Very clean and plenty of seating

Cute spot for a family getaway. Our kids liked the backyard for playing and bonfires. Clean, cozy, adorable cabin decor. Many, many nice area lakes for fishing. Grade school a few blocks away had a nice lakeside playground for evenings too.

Cabin With Potential
The cabin was very clean, the description was accurate, and the beds were comfortable. However, the deadbolt on the door did not work and the property manager made no attempt to fix it before we arrived. The cabin has a lot of potential but every afternoon when we returned, the home was full of flies. We could not find how they were getting in, but this needs to be fixed.

The property is small and very functional. This is one of the cleanest properties I ever entered. To kick back read a book enjoy the few hours of sunshine (Memorial day) stream movies (rain time) it has it all. Most of all it is cozy. How can you not enjoy that!!!!

Great Getaway
It was a three day weekend friend getaway. The place is very cute, roomy and clean. Comfortable beds. Friendly host. I wish we had time and weather to enjoy the deck and backyard. It’s a very beautiful area. We felt very “lucky” to have found it 😊 I highly recommend this place. Thanks for everything!!

Lovely Little Cabin for Groups
The place was pretty! Warm atmosphere but definitely more for groups! Two sets of twin bunk beds, two couches, one fulton style couch that folds into what felt a little smaller than a double bed, and an inflatable mattress (or two, I think, though I only saw one) means you can fit a lot of people but for couples you're left with limited options beyond the inflatable mattress if you want to sleep in pairs.
Kitchen was small but adequate, the living room was nice, bathroom was basic but had everything. Parking was easy, check in was fluid, and the location felt private and separate. It'd probably be a better summer rental. The area outside looked nice but with two feet of snow and 6°F we couldn't enjoy it. The propane heater was a bit finicky and off and on noisy, but there were two supplemental electric heaters that kept the temperature up even in the extreme cold. Overall, fantastic experience. I should've read deeper about the beds but it was close to where we needed to go so I just went for it without reading too deep. Highly recommend. Would be a great family or group rental.

Clean & Cozy Cabin
We chose this cabin for a girls' trip and it was everything we needed. The bunk beds are very big and the bedding was clean and soft. There was plenty of seating room in the main area and I would agree with another review that it feels much bigger in person than in the pictures. The deck and backyard seemed nice, but we did go in the winter so didn't go out there. The bathroom was also clean and the shower was nice.

Cozy cabin
We very much enjoyed our stay at this cute little cabin. My kids loved the bunk beds. The yard was big enough for a few games of frisbee. And even though it was chilly outside, the cabin was very cozy and comfortable when we came back in. We then snuggled on the couch and watched Disney plus movies. Perfect!

Great time together
We are friends from UW-Superior. PE majors, graduated in 1970. One of our friends husband passed away on July 7th. They lived in Amery, WI. We wanted to rent a place close to Amery and invite our friend up for a visit for two days.

No bedroom door, otherwise lovely!
Had a great time at this place. The one detail that I didn’t see in the post or reviews was that there is no door to the bedroom. This impacted our stay since we were traveling with a toddler who goes to bed quite early. Other than that it was great. We enjoyed visiting Fawnderosa, Interstate park, the Luck school playground and exploring Main Street Taylor’s falls. We enjoyed that this location was quiet and remote but close enough to explore many things!

Great

Upon arrival, all appeared to be in order. The lawn was freshly mowed. As we opened the door, we were welcomed with the wonderful fragrance of cedar wood. We could see that the house was newly remodeled, and the as we entered and looked around, nothing seemed to be out of place, and everything appeared to be updated and well maintained. However, when we began preparing dinner, my wife noticed that many, if not all the dishes she planned to use were dirty. The dishes were either dusty, or improperly washed. The cooking pan was also dirty and had to be re-washed before using. This also had to be done with the utensils. I certain that the guest who followed us did not have this problem, because my wife maliciously washed and replaced all the dishes before we left. Other things to note: The tiny, window air conditioner struggled to cool the place (but only because it was uncharacteristically hot and humid for that time of year.)Second: The windows were largely uncovered, so we felt self conscious as night approached due to the fact that the windows had no blinds.
