Perfect for a ski getaway with friends or a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of normal life, this beautiful lodge is ready for your next adventure! With vaulted ceilings that let in plenty of natural light, rustic decor, and an open layout, entertaining larger groups and spreading out will be a breeze. Head out to the front porch or back deck each morning to breathe in that crisp air with a fresh cup of coffee. Don't worry about cold floors in the morning - both bathrooms and the entryway are warmed by electrical floor heat. After a full day of shredding fresh powder up north or hiking nearby, there will be no better way to settle down and soothe tired muscles than a session in the classic cedar barrel sauna (powered by wood) right outside the front door! Plus, the chef of the group can easily whip up a tasty meal for the whole group on all of the appliances of home in the full kitchen. Come summer, the private gas grill will come in handy for family cookouts as the sun dips behind the trees. The baker of the group will enjoy the use of cookie sheets, mixing bowls, a hand mixer, and other bakeware.

Great place within driving distance to a lot of great sights. We especially enjoyed the wood burning sauna! It also had a pack and play for the little one which was a life saver. Loved our stay!

We were initially concerned when we approached the property due to the cleanup needed on some of the neighboring properties but the Hanging Glacier chalet is tidy inside and out. We stayed in Girdwood for a couple of nights in July while hiking and taking in the sights of the beautiful countryside. This chalet is a clean property within a couple of miles of the hiking trails near Alyeska Resort. A car is necessary if you want to reach the local restaurants and some of the outdoor activities in the area.

Property was great. Plenty of space to spread out and to hang out together. All the amenities we needed. Clean and easy to communicate with property manager.

Gorgeous home nestled in the beautiful Alyeska mountains. We took our annual family vacation with our young adult children and found everything about this property to be the icing on the cake of our vacation!

This property was the perfect spot for our three generation Alaska adventure. The house was clean and there were many thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. I would definitely book this adorable place again.
6.0 / 10.0
The house is beautiful, and well kept but not everything that the description leads it to be. The location near Alyeska is convenient, and we had no trouble getting around or finding good food and fun things to do. We were also able to see the northern lights when they were out. The house is located on a small densely populated dead end road. There is very little privacy. While the windows are lovely, they allow everyone to look inside the home. The downstairs bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It felt like sleeping on a cardboard box. My daughter said the upstairs king bed was really nice and she slept well every night. The sauna was especially nice as the weather was chilly and we were not used to the cold. There is also a noise detector, to prevent you from getting loud and obnoxious I suppose but it felt more like we couldn't even laugh loudly or face eviction. Overall the place was nice, clean, and well stocked but the lack of privacy, volume surveillance, and a backache had me at odds with loving the whole experience.

We had a nice stay here before flying home to Michigan. It was comfortable, convenient, and relaxing. The area was beautiful and there was great food nearby. We would love to spend more time here the next chance we get to visit Alaska.

We enjoyed very much the home, the views, the location. Comfortable beds, cool sauna on wood.
4.0 / 10.0
Good location for exploring Girdwood and Portage and close enough for a day trip to Seward. Overall the house was clean and comfortable. The only negative was that the kitchen could use a few more essential items such as baking dishes and the dishwasher bottom rack needs a little attention.

This house was perfect for 6 adults. We enjoyed our time. The sauna was very nice to relax in during the evenings. We would stay again for sure.
3.0 / 10.0
The place was good overall, but the early checkout, barely functioning sauna, and smaller size than expected made it less desirable..

This house had a great layout and slept 6 of us comfortably! It is updated and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook great meals when we were not eating out. The beds were comfortable and it was immaculately clean! We would book this home again when we return to Girdwood.

Plus: very clean and modern appliances; great location in Girdwood; easy access for late arrival; very private and quiet.
Minus: not their fault, but very dumpy looking property across the way from from balcony.

Girdwood Getaway
The hanging glacier chalet was a nice place and worked well for our family. The location was quiet and good for Girdwood where everything is spread out. The sauna was a big hit-firewood just a bit green.

Pleasant stay.
This is a clean and spacious home with all the amenities you would require for a stay away from your home. Our trip was mostly sightseeing so we had limited down time to enjoy this beautiful home.

Had a couple of issues, (shower drained slowly and a bedroom door was difficult to close) but after waiting on hold for 30 minutes, we decided we could live with them.
