I’m sad to have to write this review. I’ve used VRBO many times, especially in Galveston. I have pictures to support everything below
-the downstairs unit was unusable, mold growing on the ceiling, large cobwebs in the corners with spiders on them, and smelled of mold.
-the stairs going up are in dire need of repairs, main support was rotted
-the pool was filthy. My son in law fished out a dead crab, bandaids and dog bones. The pool guy showed up the next day to clean it. It was not clean on our arrival. He cleaned and shocked it but told us to wait 5 hours before getting in
-the door has massive gaps in it.
-the floor inside the door has water damage and is rotted, most likely from hurricane Beryl, but needs to be repaired as it sinks in when walked on
-the grass hadn’t been mowed, yard was not appealing
-the electrical, where to begin. So many extension cords outside that was running the electricity. When you turned on the garbage disposal the kitchen light would go out, I couldn’t use my hairdryer with the bathroom lights on. All electrical outlets were loose
-no toilet paper holders, no towel holders or hooks
-the master bath had French doors with handles on the outside only. If you shut the doors while in the bathroom you weren’t able to get out
-Ants, roaches and spiders everywhere. Ants were on the sofa, on the living room rug. We found a spider on my granddaughters pack in play
-refrigerator has broken shelves in the door, all our stuff fell when we opened it

Pool was perfect, house has plenty of rooms and beds. Loved the open concept of the layout. Seafood is a mile away, convince store is very close and beach is just across from the neighborhood. Canal for fishing is close and neighbors who were home were very pleasant. Will be booking again, host answered every text quickly.

My mom booked a cruise for my friends and I. This was where we stayed the night before, we thought it was a little bit closer to the beach but still not too far. The downstairs had an off smell like it was mildew or something but we just aired it out a little bit. We had so much fun in the pool it has little barstools that were so cute! Definitely needed bug spray!

Overall a great place however we had no hot water the whole time and the toilet in the downstairs was plugged. Slow drainage. Told property owner but never heard back from him.

I really wanted to live this place, but unfortunately I just can’t. It doesn’t live up to the pictures and we had quite a few concerns:
Gate entrance - the only way into the property is through a gate that is latched from the inside. We had to pull a metal wire from the outside to unleash the handle. Really unappealing and it got caught several times.
Bathroom handles on master - the master bathroom has French doors. Once closed, there are no handles on the inside to reopen the doors.
Master air conditioning - significantly warmer than the rest of the house, regardless of settings.
Toilet paper holders - there are no fixed toilet paper holders in either bathroom. The toilet paper either sits in a basket on the floor or has to sit on the counter next to the toilet. For what we paid for this house, it should have proper toilet paper holders.
Bugs (cricket/roaches) - we had crickets and roaches come into the house. The home was not sealed well.
Downstairs space with exterior entrance - The listing states that One room is ground level. With the listing does not state is that this room has an exterior entrance and is not a part of the rest of the house. This can be really deceiving as we were planning on using this room for children and could not use it at all due to location.
-Grill ashes on ground upon arrival
-More run down than pictures show
-Fridge has shelf that consistently fell out
-Hose in the pool with running water
-Cable lines close to the yard

Loved the house, walk to the beach, awesome pool. Loved that the kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed.

Well, the day was good. I love the pool. The house was nice. The only thing was just checking in was a little difficult, but the management was great. They were fair. The only downfall was there was a lot of mosquitoes, but that was due to the rain wasn’t too crazy about the view, but that’s OK Would recommend it. Maintenance was wonderful. The communication was great. They’re making things right when things were wrong.

This house has a nice little fenced in yard for your pets, good size pool, cute fire pit area with chairs to relax and an outdoor shower (Area was dirty so we didn't use it.) If you're needing last minute things there is a Dollar General within 5 min and a gas station right around the corner. Also, I highly recommend visiting Way West Grill & Pizzeria, which is also right around the corner. Their food was delicious and they deliver! Overall, this house could use a little more attention to detail but it was a good stay.
Pros:
-Beach nearby (across street)
-Gas station/Pizzeria within walking distance
-Nice pool (not heated)
-Cute Fire Pit Area (wood was provided)
-Outdoor lighting
-Outdoor shower
-1/2 bath where the laundry is located downstairs (extra living/arcade/bunks)
-Washer/Dryer available
-Plenty of outdoor seating
Cons:
-Shower in master bedroom was slow to drain
-No dinner sitting area inside (apart from the bar)
-No seasonings in pantry (not even salt & pepper)
-Pool needed a little cleaning
-Stairs/ Entry gate/ back fence need some TLC
-Pigeons everywhere!
-Roku in master bedroom didn't work (reached out for help with no resolution)
-Blinds need to be replaced
-2nd bedroom upstairs doesn't have a TV

The house was perfect for our spring break get away. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to make memories with family and loved ones. Host was courteous and responsive to any questions or concerns in a timely manner. We look forward to stay again in the near future.

Cute place, safety issues need to be addressed. No lights that work by doors. Deck is not safe, poles are loose some were swaying in the wind. Had to call to get check in code. Beds were good. Only two baths with a toilet in laundry room, not four baths. Outside grounds were dirty, pool was too cold to swim. We paid for a week stayed three nights. Neighborhood a bit sketchy.

Everyone had a nice time. We especially liked hanging out in the backyard by the pool. Home was clean upon arrival and Russell was super easy to get in contact with.

The only negative thing to say is that the pool was not cleaned but, once I contacted the host, it was taken care of rather quickly. The house was perfect for the little weekend getaway and certainly fit the group.

Our family came in from Arkansas, and Dayton to spend the weekend together. I rented the home based on the reviews and stars. Not sure if the reviews were trying to be nice or what, but this home needs major work and is worth maybe 1/2 of what they charge if that. Our stay started out with the home not being ready at 4 PM checkin so we had to wait pass when we were supposed to be checked in. The bottom of the home is full of mold and has a bad oder. Part of our family slept pool side due to the mold and horrible order coming from the room downstairs that also does not have a bathroom so you have to leave the door unlocked for your family to be able to use the bathroom at night. The pictures on the website are very good compared to the actual condition of the home we rented. The home needs a lot of work. especially for the price they are asking. Also be careful as the pigeons will poop on your items under the porch. DO NOT eat under the porch. Overall this one of our worst experiences at a vrbo rental. The home will sleep 6 conformability in the current status. I also tried to contact the owner, however we did not get a response back as I hate giving bad reviews but this one is well deserved. STAY AWAY....

Great stay
It was a 2 min drive to the beach. Several restaurants are within walking distance. They are building a pool in the backyard which will be great for families once finished!

Construction at 1am
Not the owners fault but construction with nail guns and hammering was going on at the strip mall 30 yards away well past midnight.
House is fine and appointed well but we just got supremely unlucky with our timing staying there.

Can't imagine a worse listing on this website
Management team is awful and slow to response or completely unresponsive to issues noted by guests. If you like pigeon droppings, spider bites from sleeping in the beds, dirty couches and questionable electrical wiring, this is the place for you. All items were communicated to the management company AND to VRBO customer service. No one took action on the points we noted.
In addition, listing says "steps away from the beach". In all actuality, the beach is 2/10ths of a mile away ACROSS a BUSY state highway. Really deceiving to say the least.
Stay at this location at your own risk.

Great location and comfortable home.
Great spot, comfy house. Good beds, well stocked kitchen, and huge master bath shower for easy post beach clean up. The fence was being worked on so we had to be careful with our dog outside which was a little bit of bummer.

Great deal clean and comfortable
It was clean and well put together it could use more silverware as it sleeps 12 so maybe bring plastic spoons and forks overall it was a nice stay

Location was close to the Jamaica RV park
Location was close to the RV Park where grandchildren were staying. The yard was nice to have. The view was horrible. The deck looks directly into the back of a building and there were workers and trucks each morning at 7:00 am. Home was close to public beach access. Liked the decor but the gray sofa needs to be replaced as it is very stained. We put a blanket over it to sit on it. Stairs are very dark trying to come in at night. All in all it suited our purpose of being close to our kids. Kitchen was very nice!

Easy access to beach, close access to store
Enjoyed our stay. Great thing about this area is you load up and drive on to the beach!!! Alcohol is allowed in the beach in this area as well, some don't allow. Dogs are allowed on beach too. All in all, had a good time. House was nice, well stocked and owner communicated well.

Family beach trip
We had an amazing time staying at Jamaica beach. House was clean, well stocked, comfortable beds, washer/dryer & great AC after a hot day on the beach. Nice yard for our dog to run around in. We rented a golf cart & enjoyed touring the neighborhood & finding the right “spot” to see the sunset. Really nice area!!! Beach access is across the highway & with all the beach gear it was nice to have the cart. Check in & communication with Russell was flawless. Thanks again for a fun filled memory making week!

Great place to stay!
We just celebrated my sister's 40th birthday, and this was the perfect place for us to meet with our families. We had 6 adults and 8 kids with us. Some beds were more comfortable than others, but everyone had a place to sleep. The yard was perfect for the little kids to run around in when we weren't at the beach. The property managers were responsive whenever we had any questions.
I only have 2 complaints. The first is that indoor seating was limited at mealtimes for such a large group. There was plenty of seating outside, so that was not a huge problem. The only other problem we had was the bugs, but that seems to be unavoidable in the area. It looked like some bugs had been squished in places that the cleaners had missed, so that was a bit off-putting.
The beach is a short drive away, but you could easily walk if you don't mind carrying all of your gear. You can park right on the beach, which was super convenient. The temperature of the water was perfect. This was my sister's first time being at a beach that wasn't on the Pacific coast, and she was amazed! The beach itself was perfect for the kids. The younger ones could walk out pretty far, and the water still only came up to their waists. They had a lot of fun searching for shells and crabs in and out of the water.
There were a few places nearby to eat, and there is a convenience store within easy walking distance. The Walmart and Kroger aren't too far up the road, but traffic can make the drive take a bit longer during certain times of day. There are a lot more restaurants up that way. The food at Gaidos was delicious, but be sure to make a reservation a few days in advance, unless you want to wait for a seat at the bar, which is what my sisters and I did since there were only 3 of us. If you have a larger party, definitely book ahead. We also liked Jimmy's on the Pier, but you want to be prepared for a 2-hour wait if you go during the busy times. Put your name on the list and go hang out on the beach or run across the street for some mini golf!
Aside from the beach, there was plenty to do to keep everyone busy! The kids all had a blast at Pleasure Pier, and my brother-in-law went fishing in different spots every day and night.

Meh place, photos better than reality
The check in process was fine. The electrical went out In half the house and the owner never communicated with us about it. It came back on, but they never addressed the many distressed texts we sent. I think they came over and went into the locked garage and maybe reset a breaker? I don’t know because they didn’t respond about it. The place had ants, not like a huge amount, but a few. The locks are not well maintained and really hard to use, the remodel work is fairly shoddy… I think a lot of our “meh” experience is the distance between expectations set in the photos and the real thing. The view off the back deck is of the backside of retail / restaurant, not attractive surroundings. The layout is strange in that the downstairs has no bathroom so so those guests have to go upstairs. I would not stay here again, but it for the job done. Some in our party wanted 2 stars on this place, I think 3 is fair.

Just what the Dr. ordered!
Everything was perfect! This is exactly what we needed and the home exceeded our expectations. Just a minute away from the beach, you really couldn't ask for a better location. The home was cozy, welcoming and very clean. We had 2 families with 6 adults 6 teenagers and 3 between 4-9, and the home never felt too crowded. The kids loved the game room downstairs and we all put the firepit in the back yard to great use. This was an amazing trip!

Place was ok but deck views back out retail and dumpsters. The sound of jack hammering during day.
It is unfortunate that chairs are not provided on the deck for relaxing. However, the deck view is of the back of a retail strip center and dumpsters with the sound of a jack hammer going on during the day. We did like the convenience of being a few Walking blocks to the beach and the place was clean. We did lose power several times in most of the house but it came back on within the hour each time.

It was ok
Honestly it was hit or miss. One thing that bothered me was when I got there, there was insulation all over the yard. It was the pink one too which is not good. My two year old literally brought it to me and it freaked me out. When I said something about it , all I got was that they’d “let there team know”. Due to this , my child couldn’t play in the backyard. Other than that response to something dangerous , it was clean and plenty of room. Stocked with a ton of kitchen utensils.

Communication with Russell was good. (I know every customer has those worries of not getting the codes in time and being stranded outside of a home. We've been there, done that before. Therefore, communication is a key part of all our cabin and home reviews.) The location is South of Galveston and away from all the traffic in a very quite neighborhood. After a busy day this home offers a great spot to unwind. With the extra bunk and trundle beds, the home was able to accommodate many people. The home was found clean and the water pressure was good. (We have encountered bad water pressure on various islands and in the mountains before so this is obviously on the mind while booking.) The oversized walk-in shower in the master bath is very nice. We don't expect any home to be perfect, and we did find a few things that could be improved upon. The state of the grill was somewhat discouraging. Because of this we opted to eat out vs grilling one night. Katie's Seafood Restaurant is a good choice and one of our favorite places, and is located about 30 minutes from the home. The downstairs doesn't have a restroom. (That is where the washer and dryer is located.) Whoever stays downstairs will need to come upstairs to use the restrooms and showers. If you are staying with teenagers or older kids, this will not be a problem for you at all. Overall, we enjoyed our time and would stay here again.
