There are few better places to experience the whale-watching capital of the Oregon Coast than this oceanfront townhome on the rugged, rocky shores of Depoe Bay. You'll be treated to commanding views of the Pacific Ocean from the spacious private balcony, the living area with its large picture windows, and even the kitchen, so you can watch for whale spouts on the horizon as you cook.
This oceanfront townhome is located right on the shores of Depoe Bay, less than a mile north of the heart of downtown. It's a fantastic place for watching whales as they migrate between March and December, with the Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center, several observation decks, and charter boats waiting to take you out to sea in town. Catch a glimpse of the "spouting horn" that sprays the town's harbor during winter storms, or head immediately north of the house to take in another glorious view from Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint.
After a day at the beach, out on the water, or exploring the town, you'll come home to a private washer/dryer for your salty clothes. Relax in one of the two plush armchairs in the living area. Bring a glass of wine outside to the balcony at sunset, sit down for a homemade dinner inside at the circular dining table, and spend the evening watching cable, VHS, and DVD favorites on the large TV.

Stayed for a week. WOW and WOW. The view was amazing and the first night we had a whale 50 feet from our balcony. Some have stated that the apartment was dated. Two bathrooms had wall paper from the 1980's. Besides that, everything was up to date. Will I stay again? Definitely!

Beautiful place, amazing views. Saw whales every day from the room. A little pricey but a great place

Poorly maintained. Dirty. Pictures present a beautiful unit. It is not. Someone needs to go look at the unit and make an honest appraisal. Then get it put back to match the photos. It was beautiful at one time. Furnace not working properly, carpet dirty with black spots, dryer broken. Pan under sink drain to catch water. Curtains falling off windows, water spots on ceiling, dirty cupboards inside. Laundry area filthy with old mops and dirt.

The view from the deck and living room was fantastic. Watching the tides boil in and crash against the rocks was awesome.

We enjoyed our stay here. Pros: Quiet and great view of the ocean and whale sitings. Cons: Filthy Carpeting. Exposed outlets at floor level, very dangerous for visitors with children. The master bedroom bed is VERY hard. They took out 1/2 the light bulbs, ok in main part of house but bathrooms with only one bulb so frustrating. My main con is we rented the condo for a week (7 nights), they would only allow 2 washcloths. When we asked for more VACASA said they only allow one for each visitor for the week. Then they stated they only give enough trash bags, laundry soap, dish soap for 3 days even though we rented for 7 days. So you pay $1800 for a weeks vacation and they tell you they will only give you supplies for 3 days. Very frustrated with VACASA on that stupid rule.

The location can’t be beat. The ocean put on an amazing show the entire week. Very pleased with how well stocked the condo was. It’s been years since we’ve been here, so happy to be back!

The VIEW!!! Super easy access!!! Clean, comfortable for the most part, did I mention the view??!! Whales right off the balcony!!! Minuses, the carpet definitely needs a steam cleaning!!! There are stains in the transition area from the kitchen/dining to the living room... and the bed in the master... is hard as a rock!! Overall tho.. this is a great place and would not hesitate to book it again!!

The view at this location is great, with gorgeous sunsets and occasional whales feeding close to shore.
Unfortunately, I didn't anticipate having to do home maintenance here while on vacation. A list: broken kitchen blinds, loose blind brackets throughout the condo, master bath tub that wouldn't drain, burned out light bulbs (no switched light at all in the main bedroom), broken chairs and broken glass on the deck, windows that won't close properly, railings pulling out of the wall. We fixed the major annoyances, and managed with the rest.

When we arrived, we had a difficult time with the key box, but eventually made it inside. From there we were amazed by the views from the large window overlooking the rocks and ocean below. The condo had an interesting layout and everything looked great. The condo was showing its age but we were very excited still about staying there for a week. The only complaints we had were about the dishes being dirty in the cabinets and spending a lot of time figuring out what each light switch did or how to turn on a light

Loved staying here
I would definitely recommend staying here. I noticed other reviews said it wasn't clean and didn't have basic things like salt but I found that it was very clean and it had the kitchen basics. We had such a wonderful time staying here.

Beautiful Views and Appropriate Named Resort
We enjoyed our stay at Thundering Shores Executive Suites # 12. We would stay there again for sure. It is convenient to Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Newport. We stayed for 9 nights and really had a relaxing time. We saw a few Whale Spouts and the Thundering Shores can really Thunder when the surf is rough. You feel it in the condo for sure!
We had some concerns that it wasn't as clean as we expected. and have given a list of specific items to the management company so hopefully they are better for the next time.
All in all, a nice condo. Not busy with other people, quiet except for the ocean waves, which is what you want to hear, and enjoyable. Thank you!

The Promenade
Can anyone surmount the beauty of creation? The ocean, sky, seals and weather variations are soul searching. The tides being controlled by the moon was inspiring. The only feature not too pleasant was a mattress in the master bedroom that was hard to slee on. That’s only a personal thing though. We were just a twosome. 3 families would find the surroundings delightful.

The view is amazing and made the stay well worth it. It's easy to get lost staring out at the ocean, watching for whales. The location has great parking and was very quiet. The home was missing some basics though and wasn't as clean as I'd expected. There was no hairdryer (even though the description states there is), no decent knife to chop veggies so I had to hack at my food with either a cheap bread knife or steak knife during meal prep, and no pantry items like salt, pepper, cooking oil, which has been something I've come across in every home I've stayed in the past. You'll need to take everything. I think this is valuable information to know before a trip. Overall though, I highly recommend.
