We stayed here while attending the KC Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, MO. The property has everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Troy, KS is a charming, quiet little town and the house was clean, well equipped and comfortable with a responsive owner. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hosts and place to stay. Loved this house in the town of Troy. Took the dogs for a walk in the town square closeby. Sparkling clean classically appointed decor. Well stocked kitchen and we will be back next year on our annual trip. It was a gem of a find!

This is a well-stocked home. Very comfortable with a lot of country charm. Hosts left nothing for want. Except for clothes and food, everything else was provided. Thanks for a great place to stay while we were in Troy for the weekend.

We had to cut our trip short due to family issues but found the property to be very charming and clean. The kitchen appeared well stocked if you needed to cook meals. Quiet street and safe to walk our dogs. About a 15 minute drive to Saint Joseph.

This was our 3rd stay at the Drakes’ home in Troy, KS. We usually visit Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge & St Joe. This home is the perfect location for heading many different directions. We actually prepared a few meals (a very well stocked kitchen & the local grustore has a good variety of items)—and especially enjoyed breakfast at The Feed Store. The home is cozy—reminds me of my grandparents’ farm house. Definitely recommend!

Clean, comfortable. and quiet. Very well stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels and Kleenex. Nice to have two bathrooms. Easy walk to grocery and pizza. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the side porch swing.

Once a year we get together and cook, craft, play games and just relax and have fun. This place worked great for us. It was a quiet small town. The walls between two of the bedrooms are thin, but other than that, everything was just what we were looking for. They provided a lot of things in the kitchen. Ex. We needed a small amount of flour for a recipe and we didn't have to go buy a bag, because there was some there. Also spices etc., that they said to go ahead and use. Those small things saved us money at the grocery store. We sat on the front porch quite a bit and the town people were very friendly and waved as they passed. All in all I would highly recommend this place as a great place to get away and relax.

Very cute and well decorated. Beautiful furniture. Loved that there were lots of towels, the ice maker was turned on and we didn’t have to buy ice and there was enough seating for what the house slept. Very much enjoyed our stay and if go back to that area will stay again.

4 sisters' weekend retreat!! Ronnie & Christy were wonderful, on top of our needs. Were there in less than 15 minutes when we had a small issue. The home was so comfortable including the beds; had so many amenities including plenty of paper goods, baking supplies, ground coffee, and Keurig pods both; soap and shampoo. A swing and chairs on the front porch for a wonderful Sunday afternoon relaxation. There were plenty of blankets and towels.. We felt like we were at home. Cathy

This was a really nice place and it was dog friendly. Christy was great to work with and very accommodating on our schedule. We had to change dates from thanksgiving to Christmas because of illness! The house is beautiful. Thank you for everything!

2nd Time to Stay at The Elm House

We like to visit this area in early January. Troy is a great location to visit Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge, tour Donaphan County, visit St Joseph, etc. This is our 2nd time to stay here. The house is like stepping back in time to my Grandma’s home. The host has one of the best equipped kitchen of any VRBO we’ve stayed at. There is a regular coffee pot & k-cup coffee maker, an instapot and crockpot. Extremely clean. Troy is a quaint, picturesque town—& the house is on Main Street in a nice, quiet neighborhood. There are 3 bedrooms—plenty of room for a family or a couple of couples. There’s a nice dining room—great for not just dining but card/board games. One bathroom has a nice shower & the other has a nice deep tub w/ shower. There are tons of nice fluffy towels. It’s not fancy—but it’s very comfortable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here
