About this house rental
Miami Pool Cottage is nestled in a lush tropical garden.
It's 15 minutes from Miami Beach/Airport and 10 minutes from Wynwood.
There are two bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, fast fiber internet, and smart TVs.
Feel free to use the Grill and fire pit on-premise -- and check out the treehouse!
The cottage has a separate entrance in a fenced-in half-acre yard. Free parking. The pool is not fenced; swim at your own risk.
WE LIVE ON THE PROPERTY & give you privacy, but we're here if you need us.
The pool Cottage is an antique guest house with a vintage clawfoot tub. If you're looking for a gleaming chrome and glass condo, this is not the place for you.
Both bedrooms have an exit door, and the kitchen/ living room is in between both bedrooms.
It features a convertible king-size sofa bed and can serve as a third bedroom. The cottage sleeps 6, and up to 4 people are included in the price. Any additional person will be charged $35 per person per night.
The cottage sits in the back of our fenced-in half-acre backyard underneath two avocado trees. You can eat Avocados, Mangoes, Bananas, Starfruit, Loquats, or Mulberries from the trees when they are in season. We don’t use any Weedkillers.
Cleaning: We have a local company service our home before your visit. If something is not up to standard, let us know via phone or the booking platform app within 4 hours of arriving. This way, we can address the issue and bring it up to our standards. Like most people, our crews thrive on positive feedback. Please send us any compliments and/or add them to your review!
Pest Control: Our home receives regular pest control to keep the yard and home as pest-free as possible...BUT ALAS, this is Florida. Bugs and critters thrive here. Please understand the possibility of seeing them in or around the home as they like to sneak in on all sorts of things. Refunds are not given for the occasional bug sighting and reports should be made immediately so that we can determine if an emergency call to the pest company is needed. You can also help us by leaving doors closed whenever possible to prevent them from sneaking in.
Feel free to use the giant swans and other pool floats in the pool, the gas grill on the pool deck, or any of the patio furniture.
The cottage has a private patio with hanging chairs, teak/wicker chairs, a patio dining table, and chairs. Smoking strictly only outside.
More hang chairs are hanging from a treehouse built in an old oak in the corner of the property for you to enjoy.
The treehouse offers a great view of the yard and pool.
According to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation Division of Hotels and Restaurants, we are giving our guests this notification of exception to sanitation requirements.
Notice to Guests:
Dishware, glassware, kitchenware, and/or utensils have been provided in this room for guests' convenience. These items have been cleaned within this room or unit using ordinary household dishwashing facilities and agents. They have not been sanitized according to Federal and State standards for public food service establishments.
Parents needing a crib: request the “pack and play/ playpen” ahead of time. There is no bedding for the pack-and-play.
Pets: We will accept small pets for a $50 per night pet fee. You are responsible for your pet and must make sure pets won’t go on the furniture or chew the furniture, and you clean up after your pet. Under no circumstance can you leave your pet alone or unsupervised in the cottage or the yard.
On the east side of the cottage, on the pool deck, you will find a gas-lit fire pit with comfortable chairs and a lounger grouped around it.
Heating: For a couple of days a year that we have a “cold” front in Miami, the A/C has a heat setting, making it toasty warm in seconds. There is also a portable ceramic space heater in the cottage.
NO SMOKING, NO PARTIES/EVENTS.
Access the cottage, the yard, and the pool via a private gated entrance.
The washer/dryer is available for you to use; please check with the host.
We live on the property; you can choose a self-check-in, or if you prefer (most Guests do this), we can welcome you in person.
We have cameras outside the cottage to ensure your safety and ensure only our guests come onto the property.
The Cottage is located in the smallest municipality in Miami-Dade County, and the local police force knows everyone in the village, with the the recorded outside video cameras and the owners living on the property, this is an incredibly safe place to stay.
El Portal is a small village that sits on the grounds once chosen by Tequesta Native Americans as their Sacred ground. The Little River divides El Portal from City of Miami, and if you drive towards Publix Miami Shores supermarket, and turn into the small streets of Sherwood Forrest you can come across wild peacocks. The Village has about 3000 inhabitants and its own police force. It is quiet most of the time for those that seek rest, but close enough to the highway to get to Party South Beach in a jiffy. (15 min without traffic) It is even closer to Wynwood with its Wynwood Walls art district with graffiti art galleries and restaurants. The closest outlet mall is the Dolphin Mall. Other malls to consider are Aventura Mall, Brickell City center or Bal Harbor shops. Don't forget to visit South Beach, on the corner of 10th Street and Ocean Drive you will find the visitors center, with tourist information in many languages. My personal favorite is the Art Deco walking tour. where you walk in the morning crisscross through SoBe's art deco hotel lobbies with a map, headphones, and audio about the art deco history. Lincoln road mall is open-air, a pedestrian zone (also art deco) for some shopping' A short walk from Lincoln is Espaniola Way especially fun at night with its many restaurants and bars all built in the older Mediterranean style. (don't miss the Clay Hotel- Al Capone's place, go inside the lobby for old pictures) Ocean drive by night is a packed party scene, pretty much all year round. The preferred supermarkets are Publix, Aldi, and Whole Foods all on the U.S.1
South of the Little River is Little Haiti, a part of Miami, with up and coming art and restaurant scene. Recommended: the Citadel. Our Cottage is close enough to I 95 to go North to Lauderdale or South to downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, or Coral Gables (Biltmore Hotel, or Venetian Pool) from our house we are close to the airport (west) If you have time, visiting Calle Ocho (former 8th street) in Little Havana is great for a Cuban taste. visit the Domino plaza, the Ball and Chain (bar) buy some cigars, Guayaberas (traditional Cuban linen men's shirts, now also for ladies) and Panama hats. Local restaurants that we like: Sherwoods bistro (El Portal) and Sins gastro pub (Miami Shores) another restaurant in the little Havana area that is inexpensive, open 24 hour with Nicaraguan food is called Yambo, is where we take all our out of town friends.
This property is located in a tropical climate zone. It is possible, but not likely, to see snakes, lizards, exotic reptiles, vermin, iguanas, raccoons, ferile cats, alligators, non-native primates, and other wild animals, as well as all kinds of bugs, including, but not limited to, ants, honey bees, palmetto bugs, roaches, etc. on the property.
Per Airbnb’s listing requirements, we are, therefore, required to notify you that we have “dangerous animals” on the property.
All stand-alone, homes, excluding those that are not in a condominium tower, due to this possibility, however remote, are required, by Airbnb, to notify you of the possibility that one might encounter both dangerous, and fear-provoking, non-threatening creatures.
We have pest control services to deal with all of these creatures. If you come across any of them, please contact us via Airbnb’s Direct Message (DM) system, immediately. We will work to take timely action to deal with anything that you may discover, both inside your space, or outside, on our property.
Many of these creatures are free-roaming. We do not have control of anything that occurs on neighboring, city, community, or HOA properties, and cannot be held liable for their maintenance of same.
Free parking on the swale or in front of the house in the shade of the trees if you bring your own or a rental car. Otherwise, this area is frequented by many Uber and Lyft drivers. Some people who do not mind the Florida heat will walk to the stores and restaurants.
The Cottage has a smart lock, which will be programmed to be enabled at 4 pm on your check-in day and will be disabled at 11 am on the day of your checking out.
If you need an early check-in or a late check-out, please let us know before you arrive so we can program the lock. The fees for changing your arrival and departure times are in the listing.
Trying to enter before the lock is programmed to open, will set off the alarm and call the police. A false alarm and response will cost you $200.-
Free use of deck chairs, garden furniture, pool floats, gas grill, gas fire pit, tree house, and washer/dryer. Pool towels are provided. Free parking. Quiet time after 10 PM.
NO SMOKING/ PARTIES/EVENTS!
Each person over the 6-person maximum will incur a $100 fee per person. (Exceptions are made for families; contact the host for details) the pool is not heated.

Had an awesome stay here! Really clean and awesome hosts!
Just loved it!!!

My husband and I stayed for a little over a month as "digital nomads," working remotely every day from home. We were extremely comfortable, wifi was excellent (we brought a wifi extender, just in case, but it would probably have been fine without it), and we are so happy we made the decision to take the plunge to spend our winter working in this beautiful setting, leaving the cold climate of home behind. The starfruit and loquat fruit trees outside were an bonus treat. Thank you!
