"Lots of love and history has been put into this charming rental cottage named Serendipity, as it is one of the original Sheridan Beach homes built back in 1942, that has been completely renovated and upgraded with top notch materials and an upstairs loft added on to create more space and a view of Lake Michigan!! All the thoughtful touches inside and out, plus the warmth and the cleanliness are what make for a comfortable place for all guests to relax and de-stress!
Start out the day soaking in the morning sun's energy in the front porch chairs with a cup of coffee, made fresh from the house coffee bar, or retreat to the back porch (off the master bedroom), to take in some calming meditation or yoga while listening to the distant sounds of the waves from Lake Michigan nearby. Lots of comfy, quiet places to get lost in your favorite book or find one from the vast collection that fills the shelves in the living room and 2 bedrooms. Curl up on the couch, in the master bedroom or upstairs in the cozy loft to enjoy movies or streaming from your Netflix or Amazon accounts on the 3 mounted TVs! Need to catch up on a little work while the kids watch a movie? There's a dedicated work space/desk up in the loft for your use. Okay, now that you've caught up on work and relaxing, it's time to venture out! Ready for a scenic bike ride around the cute neighborhood (beach cruiser bikes provided!)-OR a peaceful, nature walk down to the serene lakefront to collect pretty beach stones, and lots of cool driftwood- OR if weather is warm, pack a picnic lunch, cooler on wheels (1 provided!),grab the house beach wagon, fill it with beach towels, chairs and sand toys-(all provided!), to take a short stroll down to spend a lazy day at the best beach stops in Michigan City! We had a great time with our two small families. The house was perfect for us and the trundle bed came in handy. The house and garage were stocked with anything and everything. We loved the location, the back yard and fire pit.

We were so impressed with this place! The minute we walked in the door we knew we would love it. The finiahes are gorgeous and the whole place is full of lots of unexpected amenities. We are very picky with lodgings but all our expectations were met and then some. Such a comfy cozy retreat for our family of 5. We already can’t wait to book it again next year!

This was probably the nicest property we have ever stayed! The hosts communicated very well even with my family’s hectic schedule. My husband and son arrived a day ahead of myself and daughter. It was just the relaxing vacation we all needed! We walked to the beach daily as well as the zoo one day, breakfast another and dinner one night. I love being able to walk to places which was one major point that attracted me to this house. There wasn’t anything we needed that was not provided! My husband and son even took the kayak down to the beach one day. I wish we could have stayed longer! I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a lovely place!

Great house, very clean, with a nice beach vibe. Just a short walk to the beach with all the staples (beach cart, umbrella, chairs, coolers, etc.) available. Property manager was super friendly and responsive and even mailed us a couple items we left behind.

Our family of 5 loved this house! It had everything we needed! The beds were comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. They have all sorts of toys and items for the beach. Our daughters loved all the books and games when we wanted to cool off in the house. It is super close to a nice beach! We also enjoyed going to the Indiana Dunes National Park each day, so our daughters could be Jr. Rangers. I totally recommend this house! We loved it!

We were a group of 5 long-time friends looking for a "girls getaway". This house was absolutely perfect for us and filled all of our needs. From the time we walked in, we were impressed with the updated finishes throughout and the attention to detail in the lakeside decorations. It has everything needed for a fun vacation, including a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of beach towels, bikes, beach chairs, firewood, snacks, and plenty of games and entertainment options. The owner was very responsive to all inquiries and clearly wanted to make our stay enjoyable. Lake Michigan and a beautiful park is a short walk away. It would also be perfect for a couple of families as well. The upstairs area was a fun "kids room", but we enjoyed it as well. Can't say enough about this booking. It was a perfect stay from start to finish! We would definitely stay here again!

This place is great! The owners were super friendly and communicative throughout our stay. The master bedroom has one of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on! My spouse & I loved the fireplace and cozy kitchen, while my teenage son enjoyed the game room upstairs. Would definitely stay again.

Not cliche-truly the pictures did not do this haven justice! Every detail beautifully planned. We went for our annual summer beach vacation, but wanted to come back to stay inside, bake, read the books and play the games provided. Every question was promptly answered. Angie is an amazing host, super inviting and full of great info. The house binder is super helpful and informative. The house is really close to Sheridan Beach. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Love all of the bikes and beach gear in the garage. We honestly could not have found a more perfect home for our family. The decor is tasteful and cozy. The upstairs loft is perfect for children. The bathrooms are fantastic! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

Owners took so much time and care to make sure everything you need for a great vacation is at the property. All the little extras and details made it special. The location is just a short walk to the beach and beach access is clean with a cart path and a restroom. We were also able to walk to Washington Park and the zoo. Angie and Herman do an incredible job with this lovely and inviting home in Michigan City. We loved everything about the home, the amenities were fantastic, and the gear on hand for the beach made it so we didn’t have to bring any beach gear from home for our kids. We enjoyed the fire pit, the wide selection of board games and books, the lawn games, and even a movie or two. A great neighborhood, a lovely home, and Angie is so responsive and a terrific host. We had a wonderful time at this home. There were many toys, beach toys/chairs/umbrella, and dishes, high chair, porta-crib for young children. Great location- close to beach and only 0.4 miles away from a nice zoo for kids. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the fire pit and warm hose in back to rinse off the sand. Very close to the National Dunes and state park (which had nice hiking trails). Angie was great to communicate with. A great place to unwind and enjoy being with family. Would definitely go back here.

Our experience here was amazing. The place was clean, comfy and cozy. Close to the beach and light house. My only recommendation would be to put a TV in the front queen bedroom. We loved our stay. The house was just as advertised. It had all the amenities we needed, well-stocked with basic supplies and a great location for exploring the area. We enjoyed the beach (2 block walk), local breweries, wineries and restaurants, cooking together and making cocktails at the house with the open floor plan, evening laughs around the fire pit, and morning coffee on front deck. We had the absolute best time at Serendipity! It is definitely the best stocked rental house we've ever experienced, they thought of everything from spices, sand toys, wagons, a paddle board, s'mores fixings, a coffee station, books, games, and so much more. There was gear for our toddlers so we didn't need to bring a crib, sippy cups, baby gate, kids toys or anything. About a 10 minute walk down the hill to the beach or the playground or the Washington Park zoo, there was tons of stuff to do. The house was nicely laid out for our group, but would be perfect for two couples and a bunch of kids. The loft area was great and would have been an even more fun hangout for older kids with the Xbox, movies and games. The house was super cozy and clean, the fenced yard was also nice to hang out and make a fire and the front porch great to sit and have coffee. Angela was super helpful and gave us tons of recommendations of local restaurants and things to do. Can't say enough good things. We will definitely be back!

The house was a short walk to the beach with lost of fun restaurants to check out. Host had everything covered from basic kitchen needs to all the thing needed for a fun day at the beach. We had a great experience at this house. It was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed having fires each night after spending the day at the beach. It was really nice that they had beach chairs, an umbrella and wagon available for our use. My kids (7 and 11) absolutely loved the room upstairs. Thank you!

Best VRBO experience
Can't say enough about this stay! We were drawn to this place initially because of the easy access to the beach, and the garage full of items for the kiddos. This made for 2 full days at the beach with plenty to do all day. Was also just over an hour to Chicago to spend the day in the city and explore. The communication from Angie was very impressive. She went out of her way to give us ideas prior to our stay, checked in all along the way, and informed us of activities in the area while we were there. All of this is enough in and of itself, but the space itself is also top notch. It's a beautiful place, tastefully decorated, stocked with everything you could need as other reviews mentioned. The kiddos enjoyed the upstairs loft area. It was just a very lovely getaway. Would absolutely recommend!

Great house with all the amenities!
We absolutely loved our stay here. The house was stocked with so much more than the normal rental — coffee fixings, paper products, kids toys and games, beach toys and equipment, and more. The backyard is fenced in and was great for our young kids to hang out. The walk to the beach was quick, although the walk back is almost all uphill. And working with the hosts was a delight.

Short Trip with Kids
We had a lovely stay at Angie's beach house. It was the perfect size for our family of four. The kids loved having the upstairs loft space to hang out while we relaxed downstairs. The house was clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need, which made the stay that much more comfortable.
Angie was quick to respond to any questions that we had about the house or the area. We felt so welcome and at home. It was a perfect place to recharge for a few days.
