This hostel was exactly what I needed. I was in town for a weekend where I knew I would be working most of the time and I needed somewhere I could sleep peacefully, take a shower and store all my stuff securely. The Culver City Hostel fit all of these requirements perfectly. The location was also perfect. It's a little more expensive than some hostels in the area, but it's worth it to know all of my stuff was secure in my locked room when I was gone and I could sleep in a private room. The bathrooms are shared, but they were clean and I never had to wait to use the toilet or shower since there were two toilets and three showers (with privacy curtains) in the men's room, which was important as I needed to get ready and out the door. The staff were also great.

Private room, friendly staff, helpful with special requests.
N/A, cheap accomodation!

Location is about 25 mins from LAX in traffic so good if you have a layover. It’s self check in completely - there’s no staff but you get sent very clear instructions
Room is small but for the price and only one night it’s fine. The women’s a bathroom/shower is kind of communal layout, do individual showers or provide areas to get changed. The first door does have a key pad to ensure females only but would’ve liked a lot more privacy. More like a swimming pool changing room.

The location was good
We arrived late at night (1:30am) and our room was not clean, sheet dirty, trash in the room.. I call the manager who was nice and came to clean the room but they were no good reason for why the room was not clean actually, he said booking booked more room ? But all the room should be clean, so they were no valuable reason that our room was not cleaned !!
The shared bathroom were SOOO dirty, on the women section just ONE shower worked

Very large space, great kitchen and bathroom facilities. Easy check-in and living instructions. Great location close to cool shops and restaurants. Highly recommend!
Solely relied on phone communication with host (no reception or staff on site) which can be tricky if they’re not available.

Modern and comfortable. Very professionally organised hostel, has all the basic needs. Location wise convenient and cosy. Has a gas station across the street and a neighbouring gym if you are into it.
Access to Hostel before and during arrival as an unknown, keeps you tense. It is a very simple process, yet you have to call upon arrival. For foreign visitors who may not have a local phone line it would be difficult. Brief pre-information via e-mail etc. would be better.

Great price for private room. Pretty convenient and smooth stay overall. Close to the beach by car.
There was no one around the day I checked in, which made the place feel creepy. No obvious wifi information (but I didn't look very hard).

very nice price for what it was. the hostel was well connected by bus to where I had to be for my work meetings that week. my room was clean and the comforter smelled of freshly washed. the room was small but functional, it had everything I needed. the bathrooms were really clean, I appreciated that. super spacious kitchen where I could leave the stuff I wanted to use daily for my breakfasts and snacks. the week I was there the hostel wasn't very crowded so I got to enjoy the huge showers by myself. I would definitely come back, as it satisfied my few needs.
these are minor things but still worth noting: the strong smell that floated in every corner of the hostel lingered in my clothes long after I came back from my trip. It was an extremely pungent odor of ammonia and maybe smoke, although the area was smoke-free. the walls in the bedrooms are paper thin so I could hear my neighbours inside the hostel loud and clear. I happened to have one right next to me whose late night phonecalls could be heard through the night and I was once woken up earlier than my alarm by another tenant screaming off the top of his lungs one morning. the kitchen could be much cleaner.

I've never stayed at a hostel before and for my first experience this was awesome. The accommodations were very neat and clean and exactly how the pictures look. I was very pleased with my room and the price that paid. There was even a complimentary towel in the room to use. I have to return to L.A frequently for short stays in the next few months I definitely will return.

No deposit, very spacious! They have a large patio area, showering hygiene, lots of thick good towels and blankets to sleep with, lots of cooking utensils, pots, pans, I can go on and on.. the TV had Netflix, and other apps we were able to use, there's free parking in back of the building
The room was hot during check in BUT the on site host was so kind and helpful she turned up the A.C. for us no problem

why is here so dark

it was clean
First, nobody meets you when you get there, you have to go up stairs, which is very uncomfortable, specially when you are travelling with children and big suitcases, and lastly the room was burning hot, no air conditioning, we couldn't sleep. I'm so grateful we only spend one night there.

location, door dash, Lyft, the taxi weren’t able to locate the building although I gave detailed information via their apps. I never received my door dash meals, I had to walk to a known establishment in the rain for my transport.
there was no warm/hot water. I had the water on for 30 mins and was still cold - the temperature was 7 degrees and I had to have cold showers. there was only a old thin blanket on the bed and when requested for an extra blanket I was dismissed. the kitchen was filthy, bathrooms filthy, showers disgusting, common areas were disgusting with rubbish. people were smoking weed and it was coming into my room via the vents and I was so sick from it - migraines-vomiting and I was experiencing effects from it.

Toilet and showering was shared and too far away from our room

Very simple room but great for a 1-night short stay. Private space. Near the airport. Shared bathroom like a hostel.
Not too much considering this price.
