THE CHALET'S HISTORY
The Chalet was designed by the owner's mother and it is his childhood family home. “His mother was inspired by a stagecoach stop built in the 1860’s in what is now Keystone Ski Area. His parents would often take him out of school to go skiing at Arapahoe Basin, and stay at The Ski Tip Lodge. Max and Edna Dercum (founders of both Arapahoe Basin and Keystone) bought the old stagecoach stop in the 1930’s and converted it into a ski lodge.”
Several times when he was a little boy his mom would ask him to sit with her in the common room at Ski Tip Lodge. She’d point out the rough hewn logs that supported the open beam ceiling and the giant fireplace chimney reaching two stories into the sky. You will see both of those architectural features in Parkside Chalet now. His mother also drove her Dodge station wagon up to an an abandoned rancher’s cabin south of Colorado Springs and liberated the rough hewn log that now serves as a mantle above the fireplace.
The rocks on the island with the oak tree on it in the middle of the driveway in front of Parkside Chalet got there via his mother’s gumption as well. While driving up to the construction site when building the house, she saw a dump truck hauling a load of rocks from another location. “She flagged the driver down and asked if she could have some of the rocks in his truck dumped at her house.” He said "I don't think so lady. My boss wouldn't like it." She said "Here's 20 bucks. I'll show you where I want em."
The backyard adjoins Palmer Park which is filled with spectacular sandstone rock formations. It’s a hiking and trail running destination for people from all over the Pikes Peak area. It’s also a favored training ground for the US Olympic mountain biking team. The lower level is an owner's suite.

This is very nice home with plenty of room. We had 5 adults, one teen, and 3 preschoolers staying. There was plenty of room for all of us. The place is well stocked and maintain. The owner and manager, Ellen, were very helpful with issues and accommodations. My wife had a package delivered via USPS, which delivered it to a locked box. The owner and Ellen went out of their to retrieve the package. This team rocked.

This was a really great place to stay. Had everything we needed. Would stay again.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Colorado Springs stay here it’s great!

We really enjoyed how much space we had and the property's beautiful location. It's an older style house, but had everything we needed.

Our stay at the Chalet was perfect. We did need them to put in the air conditioners (it was hot when we were there), and they took care of that in record time. The home had everything we needed, it is very spacious, and we enjoyed our stay.
4.7
Nice house, quiet neighborhood, easy access to downtown and the mountains, everything in the house you would need. High speed internet, modern kitchen and nice comfy bedrooms. Highly recommend.

Anticipation built as our car wound it's way up the street toward the carefully designed Colorado chalet. An ornate black lamppost greeted us at the wide steps leading up to the home. Robynn with itrip provided clear instructions resulting in easy access.
It was a pleasant surprise to find two open living areas with comfortable sofas and chairs. Thanks to fast WIFI, our grandson enjoyed some live video game time in the evenings.
We spent time laughing, playing games, reading, and drawing in the sunlight filled 2nd living and/or dining area. One extra special spot was a 2 person table by the window with a beckoning view of higher up rock formations. Mostly we were enjoying the surrounding outdoors.
Colorado Spring's Palmer Park trails can be reached by stepping off of the home's large back patio. By hiking the trails behind the home, we were treated to fresh air and views of the city, the surrounding mountains, and nature all at the same time.
Before and after hiking, we utilized the spotless kitchen equipped with double ovens, a toaster oven, coffee pot, and all of the cooking/ baking tools needed. There were quite a few spices available too. I appreciated that the kitchen included a new sponge and cleaners.
Just the Facts: Immaculate home, comfortable beds/pillows, views from every room, jetted tub, powerful shower, comfortable office, welcoming and thoughtful owner, top notch mgmt company. Special thanks to George & Family for your help with the snow! You're the best

Great house in a beautiful location next to Palmer Park. Interesting house had all we needed. Would definitely recommend this property.

This house was perfect for our mixed group of family and friends. It's located right next to the beautiful Palmer Park with direct access to the hiking trails up to bluffs with stunning views overlooking the city. The property is tucked away in at the end of a quiet little neighborhood.
The house had a ton of room and so unique in it's style. It had everything we needed for our stay as well. The group of 18+ boys that were with us really enjoyed having the own space in the divided room with 3 beds. Again so much room for lounging inside and out. With a front patio with a view of the mountains and back patio looking up to the bluffs of Palmer Park.
Finally the hosts had great communication and prompt responses throughout, answering questions prior to and during our stay. Thank you very much for sharing your property with us, would definitely recommend it.

Comfortable for the most part.
I didn’t know I had someone below
Me with small barking dog.
The dryer is terrible, must run 4-5 times to get clothes dry. A little dirty and dusty.
Beautiful views and a lot of wildlife.
Would definitely stay again especially if dryer were replaced.

We enjoyed the easy access to Palmer Park and hiked there each morning. The house had a Frank Lloyd Wright design style.

We had a great time at this property! We hiked in the park behind every day, the kids lived going for walks. Everything was comfortable and clean and we even referred our friends to this property for their upcoming trip to the area. Would definitely recommend!

I’ve done business and vacationed in Co Springs for years - this house was very well situated in a quiet park and get very safe. Great amenities, and it really served well for a family getaway. The office is set up well to take care of things while on vacation, and the living area is good for a large family.
4.7
We had our three adult children and two teenage granddaughters. The one room with the four twin beds is divided by a closet so there is some privacy between the two sides. The kitchen was well stocked. We had everything we needed to make a Thanksgiving dinner with pots pans and utensils. Trail right behind the house up the mountain was wonderful!

This property needs some serious upgrading! There is no central air conditioning, or mini split systems. The TV is Horrible basically Netflix only, no local channels. And the windows and interior all needs replacing. We found out later that the owner lived on site in a lower unit, thou he was pleasant. The parking is very limited.

We had a relaxing and restful stay. We loved the scenery and the home.

This was a wonderful, spacious, and comfortable house! It was central to all of the things that we wanted to see and do. The location next to the park was ideal and we even saw a deer right in the backyard! It was rather hot on one of the days and the owner was nice enough to drop off an extra fan. We would love to return here on our next visit to Colorado Springs!

Great Place to Stay For Families
This place was amazing and perfect for a big family of 6. We came to a beautiful clean house with clean sheets and towels. They had hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, dish soap, and paper towels. It had everything you needed and more. The best first place I had been on Vrbo. Comfortable too. The only downside was it got hot but there are fans. But I would definitely stay again. Beautiful area in the back for eating outside with great view of the park mountains. Quiet area to stay and great park access for walking. Love this place. 😊

The property is unique and located in a great spot but for the, price the maintenance has not kept with the time. Our complaints, a third of the windows have notes broken do not open, shades at front entry do not open makes the main living space dark, the fireplace is a joke for a fireplace in a Colorado home. The fire logs were past there prime and looked ridiculous and the batteries for the electric starter quit and then just beeped. The TV didn't even have a antenna to watch any local stations. It had Ruko but there were only stations no one would be interested in. The master bed is so high off the floor you had to jump to and it had a annoying squeak in the bed that happen just by any slight movement. The problem is we expected a class A home for the price and at best it was class C that really was dirty and should not be accepted. We travel a lot and stay in many homes and condo's. This has been the most disappointing in the last few years.

This property is centrally located in Colorado Springs, and it is great for a medium to large family (with accomodations for up to 8!). Nights are very quiet without any city noises, and the property backs up to a nice park with a hiking trail going right past the back porch. We really enjoyed staying there, and will most likely return.

Great place to stay with family or friends. Place is Far enough from the hustle and bustle but yet close enough to see a lot of the major attractions: pikes peak, garden of gods, and cave of the winds are just some of the attractions within 20 minutes of property. Grocery stores and gas station close by as well. Close to the highway and major attractions along with breath taking views in your backyard and front.

Great Spot
This was a great location for us. The house was clean and had lots of space and was near family we were in town to visit which made it very convenient. The trails nearby also gave us a great opportunity to get out and get a great view of C Springs.

Thanksgiving Getaway
The home is beautiful and spacious. Access to hiking trails are literally out the back door. The house is well stocked with all of the kitchen necessities and the cabinets are labeled making them easy to locate. There is only one TV located in the living room but the wifi works great. The house is tucked away in the back corner of the street so you will need to pay attention to the house numbers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Good location
Nice house in a good location. Only thing that I did not like is that the house have a basement and garage that we do not have access. Other than that, house was great and I recommend it.

Great home with a lot of character. My daughter left a sentimental item so hoping we can still find it since we live nearby.super clean and well stocked. Mike and Elen were great!
