About this house rental
Port Side offers captivating river views, stylish boutique interiors, and a friendly village lifestyle. It sits in an elevated position in the pretty village of Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth where the river meets the English Channel. Bright and airy inside, Port Side comfortably sleeps families of five over three spacious bedrooms. This boutique-style home offers total relaxation from its convenient location for exploring the very best of one of Devon's favourite and most historic places.
Accommodation:
A flight of steps from the driveway take you up to the front door, which opens to the ground-floor hallway with the master bedroom off to the left and the 2 other bedrooms and bathroom off to the right. The en suite master bedroom has a kingsize bed. Patio doors open onto a balcony and offer outstanding views across Waterhead Creek and over the river to Dartmouth. There is a dressing area off the bedroom leading to the en suite shower room.
Down the hall, there's a cosy single bedroom where, again, large windows fill the room with light and offer river views. At the end of the hallway, there's another kingsize bedroom with ample storage, as well as a side door to access the patio garden on this level. The family bathroom is also on this floor and has a shower, toilet and basin.
The stairs from the ground floor come up to a lovely light-filled landing with big patio doors at the rear of the property; off to the right are the kitchen and dining room. To the left are the utility room and the living room. The living room is a lovely light spacious room with two comfortable sofas, an armchair, and a wall-mounted TV above the log-effect electric fire. Large sliding windows open onto a balcony and offer lovely views.
Double doors from the lounge to the dining room give a lovely open-plan feel; the dining room has a large table and chairs that comfortably seat five guests. Windows that stretch the length of the room really make the most of the view, and patio doors on the far wall that opens onto the beautiful deck bring a feeling of alfresco dining, even if it's a bit chilly. The kitchen is at the rear of the property and is very well equipped with an oven and hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher; again a patio door allows you to access the large deck. There is also a utility room on the first floor with WC, washing machine, and tumble dryer.
Outside:
The main large deck off the first floor has access from the dining room and kitchen. It's the perfect spot for taking in the view with a morning coffee or ending the day with an al fresco meal. Steps down from the deck take you to the second bedroom.
Parking:
There is parking for two cars on the driveway

The property is beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. The views from the bedrooms, balconies and terrace are quite simply stunning. You can see the Paignton to Dartmouth steam train crossing the railway bridge from the terrace which kept our 6 year old happy.
You can cross over to Dartmouth via car ferry or as a foot passenger. Its a 10 / 15 minute walk (with a child) from the house down to the ferry.
The house has all.the essentials and a great range of games in the living room. If I won the lottery I would be very tempted to put in an offer!

On the whole the house is nice, but a few points
Plus points are the location with great views, the parking space (advertised as for 2 cars but would be tight for 2 unless both very small), well equipped house, lots of plates, mugs, glasses etc. Beds are very comfortable, for the most part decor throughout is very good but just the areas below in the negatives let it down a bit.
A few negative points. You'll need to have your own iPlayer and ITV accounts to use the TVs as smart TVs as the aerial signal wasn't strong enough so not possible to watch via freeview. Dart Valley did offer to have someone in to look into but as it's an aerial issue and not a quick fix we didn't want the interruptions. Just making people aware they'll need to use TVs as smart TVs only.
The main bathroom is a bit dated which is a shame as the other en-suite is very nice. The curtains didn't pull properly, lots of hooks missing and need re-hanging. Oven could do with a proper clean.

Was second time with my family visiting port side , Very nice house in great location. Has it's own parking which is a good thing in this area. Had a lovely week stay at port side.

The first thing to say is that the website images do not do justice to the Port Side property. There are wonderful views of Kingswear/Dartmouth from the living areas and ample chairs and table space on the decking. The house is comfortable, well equipped and clean.
Port Side is an excellent base for a holiday - easy access to the ferries and a joy to be able to watch (and hear) the steam trains go back and forth from the comfort of the house. There is easy access to the South Devon Coastal path if you’re a walker.
For info - there are lots of steps to access the house so it’s not wheelchair friendly.
But it’s a great house and I’d go back in a heartbeat…

Lovely house in a nice location. Beautiful decor and furnished to a high standard.
There were fabulous views over the river to Dartmouth
Two nice pubs in the village that do food if you don't want to travel anywhere. It was great going over the river on the ferry to Dartmouth. Our only negative is the house was very cold during the afternoon when the central heating system was off.

We stayed for a few days over my birthday and had a lovely break. The house was just like the photos and had stunning views. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Devon. Our only feedback was the 10am checkout time felt a little early. The standard 11am time would’ve provided for a more relaxing end to our holiday.

This really is a gorgeous place to spend a week - but do be aware there are a lot of steps so not entirely suitable for anyone with any mobility problems.

We loved our stay. Gorgeous setting and location. Bonus with parking which is great for this location. Would stay here again. Customer service teams were helpful and quick to respond to queries. Thanks for a great stay.

This is a lovely house with outstanding views. There is comfortable external furniture on the large terrace which has the advantage of a large parasol for shade. This would be vital in very hot weather as there is no natural shade on the terrace. A table with bench seating makes outside dining easy due to its proximity to the kitchen. Lovely comfortable sitting room. The bedrooms are downstairs and my only criticism would be the quality of the beds, particularly the double (without the en suite), where the mattress is past its best. For the price of the house the lack of a welcome pack is disappointing.

We enjoyed our stay at Port Side. The house is light and airy, spacious with fabulous views. Lovely balcony off the kitchen, a great place to relax when the sun came out. Lots of steps up to the front door and a good walk to the quayside so wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues. Well equipped house, Dart Valley resolved a hot water issue very quickly (thank you).

My husband, brother in law and 2 sisters in law enjoyed a lovely stay in Kingswear at Portside. We think Kingswear is the best side of the river to stay as it offers wonderful views of the river and Dartmouth, and enjoys the afternoon and evening sunshine. We’ll be back.

Lovely house and gorgeous views
Spacious house that was very clean and well-appointed with lovely views from the large terrace as well as the balconies. Really enjoyed our stay very much indeed and would not hesitate to come again. Slight negatives - (1) there were a few items that we would have expected in the kitchen as basic consumables present in most holiday lets that were missing - kitchen roll, salt, pepper, oil, coffee, sugar and tea, (2) the terrace and balcony doors upstairs were incredibly difficult to open/close/lock - to the point that we really didn’t think we were going to get them secured on some occasions, (3) parasol on terrace was amazing and essential in sunny weather but even when there was hardly any breeze it simply blew over because it was so top-heavy and the bottom weights were not sufficient… I fixed the issue by securing to balcony rails with string to give a second (higher) tether point otherwise staying there in a heatwave we would not have been able to sit out and enjoy the main point of the property - the view - at all and that really would have been a negative. None of these are serious in any way but they did niggle at little although nothing here that would stop us returning or recommending warmly to others.

Port Side Review
great place to stay and great location .
The views over towards Dartmouth are superb and it is ideally placed to walk down to the ferry to go across to Dartmouth itself or alternatively to drive slightly further afield to some great places like Salcombe.
The property is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay - we particularly liked the upper terrace which had the sun all day.
We would love to come back and visit again!
(Just a minor point -the bedrooms could ideally do with blackout curtains (or something else), for if you are a light sleeper the light will come flowing in at dawn).

Very comfortable house
Excellent stay in Portside. Fantastic views from many of the rooms and comfortable beds. Well equipped. If your car is on the long side you probably won’t be able to fit a second one on the drive (but there’s always the Marina carpark very close by). Ferry just a short stroll away. We hope to return to Portside.

House with a View
Had a lovely fortnight at Port Side. Visited the South Hams several times and never stayed on this side of the River before. It was an easy walk to the passenger ferry for Dartmouth. Wonderful views of Dartmouth.
The house was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Port Side
A stunning property and very well located the views are absolutely beautiful. We were very fortunate to spend some very very hot days there however it would have been more comfortable had there been some shade in the form of an umbrella on the patios.
Very enjoyable stay.

House with a stunning view
Port Side gives you everything you need for a great holiday. It is in a great location and the views are absolutely stunning. You could sit on the upstairs deck all day long and never get bored with the coming and goings on the river Dart. The house itself has everything you need and more, full of thoughtful little touches like blankets for outside when it cools down in the evenings. The standard of cleanliness was excellent, which was reassuring in these difficult times and the standard of furnishings was very good and comfortable too. This was our first time in the Dartmouth area and we really enjoyed our week here, made all the more special because of the fabulous Port Side

Portside, Kingsmear, Devon
The spacious house with stunning views of the river Dart was everything as promised. We had a marvellous holiday with amazing weather.
Two things need attention in my opinion - a new mattress for the master bedroom [ very uncomfortable bed] and a parasol for the patio.
