We gathered nine adults and one infant for a family celebration. The rooms and beds were comfortable. Ocean access could not be better. And the two covered decks created get connection space. Kitchen was well equipped but with a large group the refrigerator/freezer space was small. Overall it was fantastic.

This is the third year that my family has stayed here. The location of this tremendous home is what really sets it apart - it’s on the beach, within walking distance to shops and the pier, and the beach itself is quiet and clean. The home is well furnished and clean. On that note, Chad was an attentive and superb host. He went out of his way to line up a cleaning crew after flooded roads from Hurricane Debbie made it impossible for the original crew to prep the house for us. Thanks Chad! The home is starting to show some signs of wear - the back door needs replacing & a slider door required serious muscles to open and close. The bunk bed in one of the bedrooms squeaks very loudly and is quite disruptive. On a whole, this house meets our needs and we especially like the fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom. You won’t be disappointed!

This is a beautiful and well kept property that is perfect for a group of adults. Everyone has their own bathroom and there’s one room that’s great for a family with kids. The house is well laid out and comfortable and the covered porch is amazing or sitting out and looking at the ocean when it gets too hot to sit on the beach. Really enjoyed our stay!

You couldn’t ask for a better place to stay! Owner really cares for his property and for his guests to make sure they are totally comfortable with his home! We enjoyed our stay, even though we had to deal with tropical storm Debby. Chad, the owner, stayed in constant contact with us to make sure that we were safe and that we were aware of the situation. Hopefully, we will be able to rent his home again next year. This was our second year staying in his property.

This property is amazing. It's just as described, but more roomy than the pictures make is appear. We stayed with a large group ranging from infant to 94 yo and everyone had what they needed for the stay! Beds are comfortable, kitchen well appointed, and every bedroom having a dedicated bathroom was great for a large group!
The beach was great. We were worried about it being crowded given the condos nearby, but we were there over a major holiday weekend and the beach was still peaceful and relaxing.
The only minor thing to note is that the bunk bed is made of a metal frame, making it incredibly squeaky anytime someone moves. My high sensory kids requested ear plugs to be able to sleep, so parents of sensory kids may want to plan accordingly.

Himmelstrand is a beautiful beach front property. This home is perfect for our family including an energetic two-year-old. The beach is beautiful, the weather amazing, and the one stormy couple of hours was amazing to observe. The location is conveniently located to shops and grocery stores. We had a party of 15 and everyone was very comfortable. This house is close to the beach which makes it easy to come and go. It’s also close to town and restaurants, grocery stores etc. The hosts are great. They are available and they email you once in a while reminding you to take out trash and asking if we need anything. Overall this was one of our best beach vacations and we want to return!!

Our stay in this lovely home was wonderful! There was plenty of room for our large family group. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was perfect for large group cooking. The home is situated in a quiet area on the beach and the view is beautiful. It is an easy drive to grocery stores and restaurants. Our hosts were gracious and quick to respond to any questions. By far the nicest home and beach location our family has stayed.

This house is even better than the pictures! Everything was very clean and beautifully furnished. Plenty of parking space and just a few blocks away from great restaurants and shops. The house being right on the water was amazing! It’s just a few short steps to the beach. It was nice to take a little break from the beach to grab lunch and enjoy the views from the HUGE top deck and then just walk right back to the beach for some more fun! My friends and I never wanted to leave. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Highly recommend!

This is our second year at Himmelstrand with a party of 14 ranging in age from 10-77. The location of the property is just great - right on the beach and within walking distance to local shops. The weather was wonderful too. Chad was very prompt in response to questions! We already booked our trip for next year!

We are always in the lookout for the perfect beach house, and we might have just found it this year. We really enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The house was beautiful and well stocked, it was in a great location, and the property was well maintained. Our plans for next summer are still a little up in the air, but if we’re able to come back we would love to stay in this house again.

The house was perfect for our family. Layout of the house is great for a beach vacation. Each bedroom has it’s own bathroom, large kitchen and eating area, covered decks on both floors, plenty of seating on decks and great views. This couldn’t have worked out better for us. This is our 19th annual couples trip with the same five couples, and this house is one of our all-time favorites. It fit our group perfectly, and worked out so well for us to play games, have large meals, and spend time on the beach. We loved the easy bathroom access from the beach :). This was also our first house with an elevator, and that was so nice. We are hoping to make this our house every year!

Had a wonderful time. House was perfect. The elevator was perfect for our 89 year old mother. Also, the Oceanfront deck worked out perfectly for her. Made her feel like she was part of our daily activities on the beach without having to manage the unsteadiness of sand.

First. Let me say Chad and Pam are wonderful. Not only did Chad and Pam answer all the questions that were mundane and a bit OCD; but Chad and Pam did it with grace.

Added bonus this part of the beach has smooth sand and not sand that is very "shell-y."
If you do have little ones, please bring a baby gate for the stairs and ask for the measurements. Ours was too short.
The kitchen is well equipped but some "personal items" from your kitchen you might want to think about bringing are as follows:

Besides that (that is only if you are picky) the kitchen has a Brita and a traditional drip coffee maker.
If you have extras and don't want to pack them (non-perishable) I think it's nice to leave behind items like Zip Lock bags, Zip Lock Containers, Sugar packs, etc. I only suggest this because we do it when we have it.

This was an awesome house for a multigenerational family including my 87 yo dad who needed the elevator and his room on the same level as the kitchen, common area and porch over looking the ocean. It was well stocked and we felt like we had our own private beach!

Perfect place for a large family
This beach home was perfect for our family and we had a wonderful stay. The location was great and we were a very short drive to everything…grocery, gas, and local shops. The home was clean and well appointed. The linens were presented nicely and in good condition. Being right on the beach was great and the home has several hoses and an outdoor shower that we used daily. The layout of the house was perfect for us and having a bathroom in every bedroom was very convenient. All the furniture and mattresses were in great condition and comfortable. The covered decks were used everyday and so nice to watch the storms, eat meals, and enjoy the view while staying out of the sun. The driveway was large and fit our 5 cars including 3 big trucks easily. The owners were great and communicated with us when needed. We made countless amazing memories and hope to stay here again next year. Thank you for sharing your beach home with us!!!

Perfect for an extended family!
The house was fantastic. It’s oceanfront and then some - SO close to the water. We’re a family of 11 and there were bedrooms & bathrooms for everyone. There was space to get away and very comfy space to be together. The elevator was key to moving my 76 year old parents and all the luggage & groceries up to the third floor. We hope to come back to Himmelstrand next year - what a great space! The hosts were very fast to respond to any inquiry and were very friendly & courteous. Our only critique would be that it’d be nice to have an outdoor grill and a second full size refrigerator. Being such a big group, we ate all of our meals at home.

For us, this was a perfect beach house. We have rented many times before in North Topsail and this was our first stay in Surf City. This was a "girls trip" with my 75 year old mother and two teenage daughters with two friends of theirs. The house is very clean, decorated just beachy enough, not over kill with kitschy beach decor but tasteful and bright. The kitchen is well stocked and had everything we needed for the meals we had at the house. One of our favorite parts that I did not expect to love so much was the sunning deck down at the beach. My mother hurt her foot as soon as we arrived so getting down on the beach wasn't an option but she was able to enjoy the beach down on the deck without risking trying to get down the stairs on the beach. For me, it was the best of both worlds, you felt like you were on the beach but not with the sandy parts. We were blessed with several days of perfect weather and the girls swam for hours and rested on the deck.
The elevator is always a huge plus when unloading bags and groceries but also super helpful for my mother who has trouble with stairs. The living area on the second floor was really ideal to have two different spaces for the teens to watch movies on one floor and my mom and I had a quite space downstairs on the second floor. The little fridge/sink area on the second floor is perfect for storing drinks or snacks for that living area. The location was very convenient to nearby restaurants but not too close where it felt busy. We had a great time and really enjoyed the house. We had six in our party so there was more than enough room for everyone to spread out, I could see this house being great for larger families or groups. There isn't one thing I could say other than it was perfect!

Incredible House
We had the most relaxing vacation bc this house is so well organized and set up for multiple families. We had three families with eight children under the age of 8 and one grandparent all under one roof and it never felt cramped or uncomfortable. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and the multiple decks make it easy for everyone to find a chair, watch the waves and enjoy the breeze. There are dozens of restaurants to enjoy within walking distance but with all of our little ones and such a large crowd we opted to order and bring food back to the house. For those wanting to cook at home there are multiple grocery stores with in a simple 8-12min drive and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need. The hosts contacted us upon check in to make sure everything was as expected and answered any questions we had within 5minutes. All in all this house was perfect for our family gathering and we would love to come back and stay!! Thank you so much!!
