About this house rental
Casa Florence is a beautiful 1936 house located on a serene bluff with expansive westward ocean and island views.
Named after Ms. Florence, who lived in the house over 60 year, and at 102 years old decided to move into a smaller place.
The house sits far back from the street on a view bluff. There is ample street parking. 20 wide and gradual stairs through the park-like front yard bring you to this amazing setting.
The main floor has a large living room with enormous picture windows to the view. A beautiful dining room also allows access to the 150 sq ft entertaining deck. The fully appointed kitchen has all the dishes and equipment necessary to cook the meal of your dreams, or to spread out a take-out feast.
The grand staircase leads up the large master bedroom with seating area and view windows. The 2nd bedroom is also upstairs, its flexible configuration has two twin beds which convert to full sized beds. This is also a view bedroom. The spa-like bathroom is also upstairs. It includes a large deep vintage tub for soaking and a separate shower.
The house is a westward facing bluff. Set far back from the street, with city forest land below it, the location is serene. Casa Florence offers stunning 180 degree ocean views of the Puget Sound and its silently gliding ferry boats and ship traffic, islands across the water and the Olympic Mountains.
And the sunsets! The house faces west and golden sunlight fills the house every afternoon and evening. Each day has its own special sunset.
Privacy - nearly all windows face the view, giving guests excellent privacy and opportunity to enjoy the view at the same time.
Sorry, no dogs. No emotional support animals either. Only service animals that have been extensively trained to perform specific tasks.

The property was just as described. We had a great time staying there.

The house is beautiful but comfortable. Very clean and well stocked with necessary dishes and such in kitchen. The view is absolutely amazing of the mountains and the water. The owner was very good at answering questions quickly. Overall, would definitely stay here again!

Such a charming home with gorgeous views of the sound. I looked forward to arriving here at the end of each day to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Thank you for an excellent experience from start to finish!

Gorgeous views, beautiful neighborhood, perfect for walks or runs. My only cautions-NOT criticisms-are that if anyone in your party has mobility issues or difficulty with stairs, understand that the house is built on the side of a hill and there must be stairs to make it work. Also, no washer or dryer, but found a coin laundry only a few minutes away.

Had such an amazing time. The house is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood and gorgeous view of the bay. We spent 90% of our time on the deck. We even got to see the Northern Lights.
I would come back in a heartbeat. One of my best experiences yet.

I did a mommy and me trip here with my two young children. This house was great for kids and the perfect place to wind down in the evening after their bedtime. Fantastic views from every room. Kids loved the twin beds, little stuffed animal friends to hug, and watching the ferries right outside their bedroom window every single day. Touch lamps were great for little kids, tub, and TV gets any cartoon they want, heaters work great. It was raining so we didn't enjoy the grounds much but loved the whimsical garden. A note for parents with babies - the stairs have a secure baby gate at the top of the stairs and a crib or pack and play was offered. Host communication was outstanding and my special request was met perfectly. House has everything you could want to make meals at home. Location is sleepy and safe - we slept like babies and woke up to birdsong. Lots of people in the neighborhood just walking their dogs. Walk to Alki Beach is strenuous, especially with a stroller. Recommend just driving and parking. This is the best location to stay that is close to tourist activities and excursions while avoiding exposing little kids to street life in Seattle if you know what I mean. Could not have chosen a better place to stay in West Seattle and we want to come back again already! Amazing host thought of everything!

Minus the owners son (they live next door) playing Nicky Nicky nine door, everything was incredible.

Had a great time. Able to watch the boats/ferries/ships pass by, and the Olympic Mtn range was the backdrop. Nice drive down Alki Beach to seafood diners, and lots of dining/shopping along California Ave.

This rental is highly recommended. Wife and daughter loved the area's relaxed atmosphere. Property owner was very courteous and communicated well.
The internet and TV services were exceptional.
You have to try some of the area restaurants, and the Frensh Bakery.
Enjoyed the view in the evening for 9 days. Sunset is awesome.

The house is cute, and the view is AMAZING! Our host thought of absolutely everything a guest might need. The neighborhood is quiet, with shops and restaurants close by. I highly recommend Bakery Nouveau. Alki Beach is a short walk/drive down the hill. Downtown Seattle is about 15 minutes away by car. Just book it, you won't be disappointed!

We stayed for a long weekend with our two elementary age kids, and it was wonderful. Spent the days out exploring, and came home in the evening to a calm, comfortable house with a killer view. The hosts were very accommodating when we needed help after checking out, and the house had everything we could have needed. The area is wonderful and easily accessible.

We truly enjoyed our stay over Memorial Day weekend. The sunset and views were exactly as advertised. Short walk to many places to eat and incredible views across the water of Seattle. Communication with the owner was perfect and information on commonly asked questions was on display throughout. It was easy to feel at home.

Wonderful fairy tale like home sitting on the water with amazing views. Neighborhood is absolutely gorgeous with easy access to small town eateries and stores. The owner is very responsive and kind - answering any questions we had on the trip!

The house is an upgraded well kept vintage house tastefully done but with the charm of its era. Everything is very organized for the guest with easy notes on how things work. The views are beautiful especially now with the snow covered mountains. I love how the galley kitchen is easy to work in, for one person, and well equipped to make anything. There is a lovely yard for kids to play in too.

The cottage was a beautiful base for a visit to Seattle. Lovely views, a ten to fifteen minute drive into the center of the city, and in a quiet neighborhood to walk in at night.

This was a perfect vacation stay. Michelle (host) is absolutely amazing. The house is impeccable with everything you could need. Very quiet, clean, all the accessories you need including slippers, beach towels and umbrellas. I will never forget this stay and enjoying the beautiful view for quiet morning coffee and evening wine on the deck. Thank you Michelle. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful property. The views on a hill overlooking Elliott Bay were stunning...ferries to Bainbridge and Bremerton passing by and sailboats in the distance. Huge bay windows along the back of the house along with the back deck were the highlights for us....we sat and watched sunsets and loved every minute of it. Our host made everything easy by leaving detailed information about the house and area....there were nice little notes throughout the house with pro tips (a very thoughtful way to help us navigate without guessing how everything worked!!). Kitchen was well appointed and even included many basics we didn't need to purchase. The location was close to many local coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, and parks. Big bonus was the lovely prints and photographs on the walls. An artsy and cozy home with a view, we would definitely stay in this home again.

We loved our stay at Casa Florence! Michelle was a wonderful host, living next door she was happy to offer tips and advice for the area. We were there during a heat wave but still stayed cool enough in the house. Our kids loved the trampoline and playing with Michelle’s son, a highlight of the trip for them! Our highlight was enjoying the beautiful sunsets on the back patio once the kids were in bed :)

Great and accurate pics on the VRBO site; everything you need in the kitchen (including very sharp knives - something often missing at VRBOs). Everything you need to know is labeled (including the three trash bins, lights, instructions on various things, etc.) or in the provided binder.
Things to note: house is down the hill from the street down a not-too-steep sidewalk/stairway. The stairs are uneven so watch your step. Also, spiders like to build webs across the path at night so walk with a stick or something to knock them down the first time you walk up it each day. There is a "no shoe' policy so plan accordingly (we brought indoor only slippers), the floors were very clean so this was not an issue for us. The roads in the neighborhood are narrow and there are not any stop signs (except at major cross streets). The speed limit is 25 and it seems like everyone obeys this. Just be extra careful at the uncontrolled intersections.
My only complaint (if you can even call it that) is that the light in the upstairs hallway (by the bedrooms and bathroom) is on a motion sensor (with no way to turn it off) and is very bright - not great for those night time trips to the bathroom. We solved this by using a couple post-it notes to block the motion sensor - problem solved! :)
Bottom line - this VRBO does everything right. Great communications, very friendly, plenty of cooking utensils, wi-fi included (although sometimes a little slow). They even have several games and books for your enjoyment. Oh and umbrellas and backpacks and beach towels for your use! Other VRBO owners could learn a thing or two (or more) from this place!
