About this house rental
The Piankatank Point house is a prime location for bird watchers, fishermen, waterfowl enthusiasts, kayakers, lovers of all water sports, and those looking to stay away from crowds. We've set up this rental for stay and play opportunities. It is perfect for the family or group who wants to enjoy time together without dealing with crowded settings at more tourist driven spots.
On site there will be 3 Kayaks, a 16' canoe, a pool table, a professional style dart board, several televisions, a gaming console, a large book and video library, and a collection of board games. Access to the river is currently through a community dock and boat ramp just three houses down for boats up to 21', and you can launch the kayaks or canoe right off the kayak launch. There is a pier in the back yard that leads to a brand new dock with boat lifts for a pontoon and v-hull boat. Boat lift usage must be arranged beforehand.
This house has just had a top to bottom renovation. Upstairs features a beautiful master suite with a soaker bathtub and shower along with a Florida room with wall to wall windows overlooking the River. There is also a separate bathroom and shower to go along with two bedrooms and one large bunk room. There is a washer and dryer upstairs as well. Three of the four bedrooms have river views.
Downstairs is centered around a brand new kitchen complete with gas stove, a center island, diswhasher, and all the small appliances you could need. Off the kitchen is the downstairs portion of the Florida Room containing a large dinner table that seats up to 8. The dining area has large windows looking over the back yard to the water. There are two gathering areas; one with a television and game room and a more relaxing fireplace room. The television and game room has a full sized pool table, large screen television, DVD and VCR players for our large video collection, and an X-Box 360 gaming console. Also a smaller tv for possibly watching sports while you shoot a game of pool.
Off the kitchen is our large 24' x 24' deck, complete with an all weather gas grill in the shed and entertaining area all around. A Hot Tub is recessed into the deck. The yard will have some hammocks and a fire pit, though the expansive yard can be a wet or dry depending upon how the tides have been running. There is also a volleyball set and cornhole set that is for guest use. You will need to set up the volleyball set and take it down when you are done. We have also added outdoor lighting for the entire back yard.
Swimming is not recommended off the point due to the depth of the mud in the river, but the water is clean and there are several other spots nearby where swimming and other water sports are common. Fishing right off the back yard pier can wield largemouth bass, striped bass, catfish, gar, snakeheads, puppy drum, sea trout, spot, and an assortment of other river fish. If you bring your boat it's just a half mile or less to the salt-water line, and just a few hundred yards to where the river narrows for prime bass fishing.
Birdwatchers will enjoy several different birds of prey such as osprey and bald eagles, as well as other marshland birds and the occasional hummingbird. Directly across from the house is a large marsh area that you can paddle up into for about a half a mile.
Waterfowl enthusiasts can bring their mobile blinds and head up into the Dragon Run, or practice your duck calls right out back.
Boaters will love the Piankatank. It's about a 30 minute boat ride to the mouth of the river and the Chesapeake bay. There are several spots along the way ideal for tubing, waterskiing, or just pulling along the side to take a swim. There is also a beautiful boaters beach inside of Gwynn's Island that can be accessed without going into the bay.
Antiquers will love the many antique shops in the middle neck and its only a 10 minute drive to the lovely hamlet of Urbanna. Another 10 minutes away is Deltaville and it is less than 30 minutes to Kilmarnock and Irvington. These are all beautiful little towns with charming shops and restaurants.
There are longer drives for the more adventurous, like 45 minutes to Williamsburg with Bush Gardens, and it's about an hour and a half to Richmond, or Virginia Beach and two hours to the Washington DC area.
This is my first rental property and I do want to work with my guests to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. It is my sincere hope that you'll fall in love with the sunsets, as I have, and that you'll want to make many memories here at Piankatank Point.

I cannot say enough good things about this property and our stay. So much to do outside, inside, and nearby. Grateful for the terrific hospitality, communication, and fun!

Beautiful spot on the river - we enjoyed getting out in the canoes and kayaks, lounging on the hammocks, playing cornhole, and cooking out on the deck. The home was comfortable and plenty of room for our family and kid’s friends - we had 8 total at one time. We’ll be back

My husband and I met our three grown children and our 4 grandchildren for a long weekend. Was a perfect beautiful location. Even though one day was a bad weather day we stayed in and watched movies and played board games pool and darts! Loved it

Everything you want to do is right there at the house..Fishing, crabbing. Canoeing, kayaking and so much more. Already planning a trip back this summer.

Plenty of space for a family to spread out and enjoy indoors and out. Large area for outdoor activities, canoes and kayaks, life jackets, cornhole, hammocks, soccer ball, a pier, etc. The weather wasn't really cooperative - it was very windy the first 2 days. But enjoying the morning and evening on the large deck was wonderful. Lots of games, books, pool table and Xbox (although 2 of the games were missing) for the evening. Also, had a great day at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg Charter sailboat ride on the York River and exploring around Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. Enjoyed Something Different restaurant, Precarious Beer Project and Billsburg Brewery. Only problem was the hot tub not getting hot, but host tried to get it running for us. Neighborhood very peaceful and quiet.

The property is exactly as described and illustrated in the photos. It's a beautiful spot on the river. Mark is an excellent host. We really enjoyed our stay.

Meeting family 1/2 way between our homes for the holidays. 3 college age and 4 parents + one furry dog.. Had a wonderful time ( even with the rain!) Bedrooms are large, kitchen is very well stocked, views are amazing! Able to kayak several times & bonfire one night. Would love to visit again!

We came here over the weekend to celebrate my husband turning 60. He got to spend a ton of time on the water doing one of his favorite things...fish. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

My family gathered for my son's wedding. Thankful to find this peaceful retreat for us to stay for the weekend. Owner was super nice, great communication and very accommodating to us. House was neat, with a lot of different areas to gather. Very fun pool table we used a lot due to rainy weather. Never got to use the hot tub, but the grounds had very nice views, house was clean and we had a nice weekend.

The home is great for any age group. We had grandparents, parents, and kids ranging from 16 to 12. It is very spacious and the deck view is beautiful. The kids enjoyed sitting on the dock. We got to meet the host who was very nice. It has everything you need. We had a fantastic time.

Me & my husband viewed the property March 2022 & booked it, we were in love with it. 14 months later, it is our wedding weekend. 4 adults and 3 kids staying the weekend at the house. Everyone else would come & leave after. The nice owner was putting the beautiful string lights up outside when we arrived at 640pm… He didn’t leave the house until 1015pm…fast forward to the next day… we want to use the hot tub… NO WE DID NOT contact the owner. There was no excuse for the dirtiness of the hot tub. There was a 1 inch thick grime line on the tub where the water has been sitting and not cleaned, and the hot tub has a slow leak on the bottom. You could see a clear difference in the water levels because of where the grime has formed. He showed up at 1pm that day to weedeat and rake… JUST SHOWED UP. Absolutely no text or call or warning. We called VRBO to let them know. The bunk bed room had a pile of dust in the corner (looked like they were just sweeping the dirt there). The living room had mysterious blue sticky stains behind the couch. Please please please be aware of the coffee creamer.. they store the excess beside the water heater. My husband poured chunky creamer into his cup of coffee. The upstairs bathroom trash can had not been properly discarded. There was trash and used food wrappers in the can. THEY KEEP HALF USED TRAVEL SIZE BOTTLES FOR THE GUEST. They did not discard them. They were on view in bathroom to use. We left a day early because of how sad we were about this.

Great house for a relaxing family vacation. Mark, the owner, also asked for feedback and quickly acted on our recommendations.
Thank you for a great family time.

When it says it's on the river, you still can't quite grasp how amazing the setting is. We pulled up at sunset, walked out back, and soaked up the sights and sounds in awe. Mark was instantly responsive at all times and came out first thing in the morning when we had some issues, and he was great to work with.

This was the perfect place for beautiful sunsets, cooking, eating, games and great time well spent together in our Ladies Getaway 2022! Thank you for the opportunity to stay here for a fun filled weekend.

What a wonderful getaway for our family. Home was exactly as described. Plenty of space inside and out. We enjoyed the waterfront location, the kayaks, the fishing (caught a nice puppy drum right off the dock!), the hot tub. Great not to have to worry about linens. There were plenty of towels. Kitchen had all necessities. Everything was perfect. We look forward to returning.

Really nice spacious house with great views of the river. Plenty of things to keep everyone occupied with the fire pit, hot tub, canoe and kayaks. Mark was very accommodating and impressively quick to respond to any questions. Hope to go again sometime.

The kitchen was beautiful and pleasant to work in.
We woke to the sun rising over the river each morning and the local pair of bald eagles calling. We did a ton of great fishing down by the dock, catching catfish, gar, and a good sized red drum.

My wife and I loved this place. We were tucked in the woods on a beautiful property. We loved the hot tub and neighbors. The owner was helpful and respectful. We took the kayaks out and fished almost every day. There are plenty of good places to eat within 20 minutes. We have already discussed coming back. Everyone we spoke to was kind and nice.

Mark was very helpful providing easy access to the water for our kayaks

My husband and I invited my niece and nephew to join us for family bonding. They each brought 2 of their kids and we took one granddaughter. The house was great for the 9 of us. There was plenty to do right on site and room inside to spread out as well. The pool table was a big hit along with the boats and fishing options. We made good use of the outdoor grill, the fire pit and the hot tub. Mark was quick to respond to every question, and offered to take us out on his boat. We saw the sunrise from the water near Paradise Beach. We walked on the beach awhile and then Mark took us out in the Chesapeake Bay where we saw dolphins, a lighthouse and spent some time fishing. We didn’t catch much that day but it didn’t spoil the fun. If I have reason to return to the area with a big group, I would definitely stay there again. Thanks Mark!!

Small Piece of Heaven
Beautiful property with amazing sunset views from the dock. The perfect place to decompress from your fast paced life. Plenty of activities both inside and outside the house. We enjoyed coffee and meals on the back deck while watching bald eagles and osprey fly past. We all enjoyed time in the canoe and kayaks while fishing on the river. Many fish were caught including blue catfish, spotted gar and bowling. Highly recommended place to stay!

Family Vacation
Property is in a great location right in the water. The homeowner provides kayaks and canoes for use. The house worked well for our group and is in a very quiet spot. The homeowner was also very responsive and friendly.

Beautiful Spot
This was a large home in the country which is on a river. It served our large family well for the weeks stay. There is a large back deck which is shaded and overlooks the river. The house has large windows overlooking the river. The home is well furnished. It was a bit of a drive to Williamsburg but it is worth it to have such a beautiful and peaceful place with plenty of space for kids and dogs to run around.

This home was a great stay for our family over the Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed the water and use of kayaks. The house is a great setup for our family to enjoy time together and still have space to ourselves. We welcomed friends as well, which was great to be able to have people come and go as they were able. Mark was quick to answer any questions and was flexible with our stay during the holiday weekend. Would definitely recommend this home!

Amazing 👏
The owner came as very friendly and easy going. The place had plenty of room and lots of and games to occupy yourself with. The Xbox controllers were dead on arrival but I had just bought new ones when I went out for food. The fire pit was just a out standing place for fellowship and had enough chairs and room for 8 people. Master bedroom was just phenomenal had adjustable bed with a coffee maker and standing out view of the river that was just beautiful to see the sunrise come up. I got this place for special notation for my brother and I think I just made and memory that will never fade away for him and the rest of us. Definitely thinking about getting this place again as a couple's vacation!

Just perfect for us
Our large family stayed here for our spring break. We used it as a base for our visits to Yorktown, Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Although a little drive to get places, it was a great house for us, as we also traveled with our dog. Our five kids loved the pool table, hot tub and being able to fish off the pier. The house has plenty of space, room for the adults to have some space away from the kids, lots of board games & movies, and a nice kitchen. And the host was great. My son lost a sentimental stuffed animal on our trip and the host went back to the house to look for it. So appreciative of his time. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for a great stay.

Property was a great location for a weekend getaway to celebrate my teen daughter’s birthday with a group of her friends. The bunk room allowed her and her friends to stay together, while still having nice rooms for the adults. The location on the river was excellent and Busch Gardens was just an hour away. Entertainment options were great and the river views were amazing.
