About this cabin rental
If you seek a pin-point-perfect-place in the hills to get away from the daily grind of the city life then you will be content with the seclusion found within & around this beautiful mountain retreat in the Los Padres National Forest. Just a beautiful 70 min drive from Los Angeles and you will find yourself in another mind state, surrounded in the Pines. Nestled in the trees high atop a quiet neighborhood road you'll find your cabin discreetly tucked away.
Built in 1973, this custom cabin was renovated in 2005 and again in 2020. It features design references for its time- as the entire community was established in 1971 and is located within close proximity to the city. During the resurgence of vacation homes in the 70's, this was a "nearby, faraway place" for Angeleno's to stake their little piece of heaven and build the cabin of their dreams.
Lower level with main entrance offers a king size bedroom & full bath as well as the laundry. Head upstairs to find the main level living area, open concept kitchen-dining- living with fireplace keeping your toes toasty warm. The kitchen is complete with top end touches and appliances, as well as gorgeous cabinetry not found in most homes here. On This level you will find a full bath and 2 more bedrooms, queen and full size beds. Walk out in the morning with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, soak in the breathtaking view from the deck, and if you are lucky, you might see wild animals . Head up to your wide-open, open-air loft which can be used as another bedroom with a queen sized air mattress and couches.
Relax in one of the two living spaces with comfy sofas and several books to get lost in. As this is a place to unwind and re-calibrate, we've left our favorite spiritual readings behind for the next soul to enjoy.
Pine Mountain Club is home is to an array of activities for visitors to enjoy. At the base of PMC, you will find a golf course and swimming pool, only available to PMC members and their guests.
Within 3-4 minute walking distance from the cabin, venture out to the Enchanted Forest hiking trial, breathe in the fresh air at a mile high in the sky. The incredible silence in nature is always a reminder that nothing matters out here, but being present.
Guidelines/ Rules for Inside the Cabin
We hope you have an outstanding time during your stay. The following guidelines are in place to help with the cabin being cozy, clean, and well maintained for you and future guests. We hope you appreciate and kindly ask you to follow.
Animals - We love animals, however we don’t allow pets or any animals in the cabin, considering that some guests are allergic to animals.
Smoking - Absolutely no smoking or vaping in the house. If you do smoke, please smoke outside and bring your own cigarette butt receptacles. Do not throw ashes or cigarette butts on the ground as they can easily start a wildfire. If you smoke in the house there will be a $250 deduction from your deposit.
Guests - ONLY guests on the reservation are allowed on the property. No additional visitors/guests permitted.
Shoes- No shoes allowed inside the cabin.
Chores
Bathroom Counters / Showers - The bathroom countertops and showers are newly installed with white surfaces. If you see stains on them, please immediately use the magic eraser provided underneath the bathroom countertops to wipe stains off. (The stains soak in after a while and then it becomes very hard to clean them off.)
Squeegee - The water in PMC is very hard (even that we have a brand new water softener). Please use the squeegee after each shower to help us minimize water spots.
Sink/Toilets - There is no city sewer system in the mountains. Each residence is on a septic system. Therefore, please do not pour cooking grease down the sink or flush wet wipes, Kleenex, paper towels, baby wipes, or feminine products down the toilet. They are damaging to the septic system and may clog up the pipes easily.
Other Important Notes for your stay
Linens - The house comes supplied with bedding and towels. The only thing you need to bring is any special requirements you have. If you have colored dyes in your hair please bring a towel to cover our pillows. If you wear make-up, please bring make-up removing wipes with you in order to save on our towels and wash cloths.
Kitchen utensils - The kitchen is completely equipped (except for food).
Consumables - We provide consumables items such as cooking oil, salt/pepper/ seasonings, ground coffee, creamer. Since it is available for all guests to use, it is ultimately up the guests' discretion and inspections to consume/use these items if they wish. We do not take any responsibility for the consumables.
Paper products - Additional rolls of paper towels in kitchen cabinet above the stove, and toilet paper rolls in bathroom.
Trash bags - There are extra large trash bags located in the cabinet across from the oven. If you think you’ll need more than that please bring them with you.
Phone/Cell Service - There is no landline phone at the house. Verizon is the only cell phone carrier that works in PMC. Other cell phone carriers work poorly if not at all.
Cable TV - We do not have cable or satellite TV at the cabin. Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are available on the 70” TV in the loft, and Roku and Netflix are available on the TV in Bedroom 2.
Fireplace - If you plan to use the fireplace, please bring your own firewood and starter log (we recommend Duraflame for easy and clean burning). We have lighter at the cabin. Ash needs to be cleaned out when it is COLD and taken to the transfer site. DO NOT put hot ash in plastic bag or paper bag. There is a small steel can on the deck that you can use, please bring it back to deck after using. ($20 charge for not doing so).
Guest Cards - Six Guest Cards are located in the kitchen drawer. You will need guest cards for access to the club house, game room, tennis courts or golf. Our pool is usually open, depending on weather, from Memorial Day to the end of September. A maximum of 6 guests are allowed in the pool area at one time. Please do not lose the cabin owner guest cards as the replacement charge is $50 by the HOA.
BBQ - A propane BBQ is provided on the deck. Please do not use Charcoal or wood in the BBQ. If you use the BBQ, please clean it after use.
Outdoor heater - An outdoor propane heater is provided on the upper deck for your use.
Propane - For BBQ grill and outdoor heater, propane tank provided but propane gas not guaranteed. You can purchase propane tank at the general store down the hill in the village center. Clean grill and turn off propane tank after each use. ($20 charge for not doing so).
Outdoor Fires - We are located in the middle of Los Padres National Forest therefore; outdoor fires of any kind are PROHIBITED in Pine Mountain Club. This includes pit-fire or charcoal BBQs. Open fires will result in the forfeiture of your entire deposit.
Filtered Water - RO Filtered drinking water with minerals is installed in kitchen so you don’t need to bring your own drinking water. If you need to bring water out to hiking and other activities, please have your own bottles.
Water shut off - If any need for emergency water shut-off, please contact us directly.
A/C - Like most cabins in PMC built in the 70’s, we do not have A/C. During the summer, the upstairs bedroom may feel warmer than downstairs. By evening, outside temperature should drop and with the windows opened, the bedroom ceiling fan can also help circulate the cooler air.
Wildlife - You are in the mountains. We have a variety of wildlife here in PMC that includes, but is not limited to bears, deer, mountain lions, bobcats, raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, and a large variety of birds. Please do not feed the wildlife. Some of these animals especially bear and raccoons are attracted to the smell of food. Do not leave food, ice chest or trash outside. Lock your cars and do not leave food or anything that smells in them. It may attract bear to your car. A hungry bear can do serious damage to a car. Please close and lock windows and doors at night and when you’re not home. Our bears have been known to enter homes and raid the fridge. If your actions cause a bear encounter that requires outside action/help, the PMC Patrol will issue an immediate citation. The Violators of Association Wildlife Rules will carry fines between $1,000 and $4,500, which will be passed onto you.
Insects - Pine Mountain Club is a forest community in the mountains and therefore insects (ants, spiders, moths and flies) and rodents are sometimes present. Cobwebs, flies and mouse droppings can appear in an unoccupied home overnight. We do everything possible but cannot guarantee the home will be free of pests, dead or alive.
Trash - Do not leave trash outside. It will attract bear and raccoons. Bears and Raccoons will rip bags open, tilt over cans and make a general mess of things. Please take all trash and recyclables to the transfer site just past the Equestrian Center at the end of Aleutian Dr. The station is open daily 8:30AM – 5PM.

Had a great Christmas holiday at this cabin. The only thing I wouldn't give 5 stars for are the many stairs...just for me personally as I have back problems. Other than that, great time!

The serene quiet and being in nature was just what I needed to focus on reading, writing, meditating and getting away from it all for for a bit. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and the house had everything I needed during my stay.

This was a last minute decision for us and We are so glad we did it. We hope to come back next year. The loft with fuzbal, video game, couch, table, Tv and games was a great hangout space for all of us. The main level with fireplace, chairs and kitchen opened into the deck and was a lovely quieter space! Shenny was super helpful and an excellent host! We were a family of five from 80yr- 12yr and everyone loved it!
