About this house rental
Update: This property did NOT receive damage from the hurricane. We have power, water and wifi. Roads are accessible and most of Blowing Rock is open for business. Some large attractions may be still closed. Parkway is also closed. For winter travel, we recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Snow and ice are common during the winter months.
Welcome to Treasured Times Ski Mountain. This home is conveniently located 2 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock, 1/2 mile from Appalachian Ski Resort and just 10 minutes to Boone. Before we mention anything else, just know you won't want to miss a single sunrise from this home!!
A little about us and our home......We are Ross and Maile Allen. My husband Ross is a home builder and I help out in the company with interior design and marketing. This is our 4th VRBO property in the Blowing Rock area. Our 3 previous VRBO properties (we have over 100 5 star reviews) have been sold. When we saw this home on Ski Mountain go up for sale, we knew it was a diamond in the rough - gorgeous rough sewn wood, incredibe river rock, picturesque views, lovely and quiet 3 acre lot. All it needed was a little makeover to bring this property back to life.
Enhancing and updating the original structure was a labor of love. All the spaces have been newly renovated and yet we love that the home still looks and feels like a rustic mountain chalet from days gone by with all the warm wood tones, heart pine floors and one of a kind 3 story river rock fireplace.
This home sits on almost 3 acres with gorgeous views. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths and sleeps 8.
The upper bedroom has a king bed, a twin bed and twin trundle bed. This room now has a brand new updated bathroom with separate toilet room, tiled shower, 2 sinks and large vanity area with plenty of storage space.
The main level bedroom features a queen bed with a sliding glass door to a lovely deck area. The updated main floor bath is accessible from this bedroom room as well as the main floor hallway.
The kitchen/dining area features all new appliances, beautifully restored original wood cabinetry and a newly installed granite island that seats 3. The kitchen is open to a lovely dining room area that seats 6-8 around a cozy table.
The living room showcases stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and if you're an early riser, sunrises at this home are breathtaking!
The home's lower level features a wonderful area for storing all your hiking, biking, or skiing gear with plenty of "drop zone" space. This level also has a Queen bedroom and ensuite bath with a tub shower.
Outdoor areas include a lovely 3 acre wooded lot with a fire pit perfect for enjoying s'mores under the stars. After a long hike, you'll also want to soothe your sore muscles in our 6 person jetted hot tub.
Dog lovers will enjoy our dog door that allows pups to go in and out as needed. This connects to our fenced in yard.
Hiking, biking, boating, shopping, dining, day spas, and horseback riding are all right around the corner.
We look forward to welcoming you to Treasured Times Ski Mountain soon!

Just spent 8 days in this lovely rental. So well furnished and decorated. Exactly as described and equipped. Really enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub in the evenings, plus the wonderful views during the day. The stairs between the 3 floors were steep for me as I had knee replacement surgery 3 months earlier, but the master bedroom on top was wonderful and made it worth the climb!

The house is great! Fantastic location between Boone and Blowing Rock. Great for dogs with fenced in area off kitchen.

What a beautiful way to celebrate our 37 th wedding anniversary than getting away to a gorgeous home two miles approximately from the quaint town of Blowing Rock, NC with our family. It was fully equipped with all the comforts of home like soft sheets, comfy pillows and quilts. The kitchen was well stocked with gadgets, cookware, dishes, glasses, utensils and much more. Our bathrooms were stocked with shampoo, soaps, and everything you might need. The house was clean and decorated with lovely detail. The furnishings were eclectic and I enjoyed the fire places throughout. All of the beautiful stone work reminded me of my parent's home in Colorado.
The fenced yard was awesome for our small dogs and access was convenient from the deck on the main floor. There were a lot of stairs though and that was difficult for my aging dog and for me, but we managed.
A majestic view just beyond the prow designed windows was a slice of heaven. Spectacular sunrises were visible as well as wooded vistas. Tiny flowers were sprouting everywhere outside and although we did not use the fire pit, it looked like it would be fun to have had a fire. The high winds and dry air made it not ideal for a fire outdoors but we had plenty indoors as an ample s supply of wood was provided.
This home was located close to Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We even made it to Linville Falls the last day.
I appreciated the comfortable, clean accommodations and the fabulous view was a bonus.

We enjoyed our visit so much last year that we came back. The house is very comfortable for our family. Plenty of room to be together or sneak away for some quiet time. The views are incredible and love waking up to gorgeous sunrises. The owners are easily accessible and we definitely recommend the location.

Our friend group of 3 couples get together every winter for a mountain trip. We decided to try somewhere different this year and found this amazing home! The house was set up perfectly, giving each couple their own private space. The large kitchen was perfect for congregating and the living area was beyond cozy with the wood burning fireplace and the gorgeous views from the large open windows. It rained the entire weekend and we didn’t even care. We relaxed in the hot tub on several occasions and were able to go into Blowing Rock for lunch one day. Communicating with the host was beyond easy. She gave me all the information I needed before I even had to ask. We were able to arrive early and it was so easy to gain access to the home. Everything was nice and clean. The home is animal friendly, but I would never know that animals stay there. I’m not an animal person and appreciate this. We talked all weekend about how we are going to book again next year.

We had the perfect stay. So quiet, relaxing and soul healing. The house as well as the entire property were absolutely gorgeous. The views of the mountains, the wildlife (around 4:00 PM is Deer-thirty). 25+ deer would just come out from the surrounding woods. Breathtaking. Stores, restaurants and downtown Blowing Rock were just minutes away, which made getting out and exploring very convenient. The owners maintain a beautiful home. Everything was well organized, we never had to guess how to operate the amenities and what needed to be attended to. We are looking forward to staying again. Can’t wait!

This property was just as advertised. Very beautiful property, AMAZING views, all the firewood we could need to keep warm and enjoy the atmosphere, just wonderful all around. Have already book for next year!

The cabin was absolutely breathtaking! It was our first trip to the mountains with our kids and it did not disappoint. The owners were extremely accommodating and the place was spotless and very user friendly. The views from the cabin were stunning. We would stay here again and hope too very soon!

My family and j can’t wait to come back and stay again next year. This home is absolutely stunning and we felt so incredibly comfortable. Maile was so communicative. 10/10 would recommend to anyone to stay here.

Our family was thrilled to stay at this beautiful property and definitely want to rent again! The house is dog-friendly and honestly, that can sometimes lend itself to a less appealing property. However, in this case the home was immaculately clean, top-notch comfortable furniture, no chew marks, scratches or stains, and very little presence that dogs were ever even in the home aside from the complementary dog bowls.
The location cannot be beat. If you go one direction down the mountain you end up in Boone and another direction leads you to Blowing Rock. At night we could hear the Tweetsie Railroad whistle while sitting in the hot tub. In the morning we could watch the sun rise over the mountains from the deck.
Every floor has its own bedroom and bathroom so our family could have personal space but also all join together in the den by a roaring fire. The fenced backyard was so helpful for taking out our dog and the kids loved exploring the boulders and brush around the expansive property.
I could go on about the property but I also have to mention the incredible host. We found ourselves arriving about an hour earlier than expected and Maile quickly responded and allowed us access to the home before check-in. She also communicated that the cleaners would not be arriving until the next day so it gave us extra time to leave which was so helpful.

We had a group of 3 retired couples together for a fall weekend in Blowing Rock. This was a BEAUTIFUL home - clearly the best our group has enjoyed in 5+ gatherings. The home quality, cleanliness, and setting were A+. Maile was a responsive and organized host. We will definitely be back!

This is a wonderful property in a very nice neighborhood very close to Appalachian Ski mountain. The view is incredible off the deck. The beds and furniture are comfortable and there is plenty of seating for groups. The bedrooms are all on different floors, and the bedroom on the lower floor had a musty smell. We kept the air purifier running to try to help deal with it. It was really nice to have access to two washers and dryers. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed.

This is the 3rd year in a row that our family has enjoyed this lovely home. It is spacious both inside and out while providing comfort, coziness and a beautiful esthetic. Did I mention tranquility?!! Many hiking trails, wineries, breweries and activities are a short drive away and the adorable town of Blowing Rock too is not far! (Instacart delivers here to save time!). Our hostess Maile is attentive and kind and is readily available. Nothing is overlooked in this home. Everything you may need is available. We look forward to next year!

At 4200 feet this cool, comfortable place was a wonderful home to escape the heat. Deer in the yard, peace and quiet made it a great choice.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. Maille was a great host and always available if needed. The house was clean and well kept and the views are spectacular! Location is great, so close to Blowing Rock but also Boone. Hiking, golf and parks very close by. Outdoor firepit and Hot Tub were great after hiking all day. Look forward to going back next year!

We loved the home and the surroundings. The view from the deck was fantastic. The house was elegant as well as very comfortable and relaxing.

This tastefully-decorated property is perfect for a small extended family to enjoy the Blue Ridge mountains together. The three bedroom/3 bath allows for 3 couples (or 2 couples + a few kids) to be together comfortably. The kitchen has enough appliances/cookware/staple ingredients to cook and dine together as if you were at home. The view, which can be appreciated from the living room, upper deck, and patio, is stunning, and the backyard has a fire pit and hot tub to really relax and feel like you're on vacation. We also love that we can bring our well-behaved dog who hikes with us every day.

This house is perfect for a large group. Lots of space and privacy. It was the perfect place to have a reflective weekend remembering my mom while we were in Blowing Rock, scattering her ashes. The hosts were lovely and easy to communicate with. Loved that it was also dog friendly. Overall just a beautiful place and would absolutely stay again in the future!

This is an amazing property! Nearly top of the mountain, some of the best views I have ever experienced. Home is very well setup, good amount of space, beautiful interior lighting, TONS of kitchen supplies (felt like we were at home once we knew where things were). Property itself was beautiful to walk with our kids and dogs, VERY dog friendly. Close to App ski mountain and Boone. Will definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at this home! The house was so cozy and just as pictured. Felt like something out of Yellowstone! The views from the deck/living room were beautiful and the location was perfect. Super close to downtown Blowing Rock and a short drive to Boone! The host, Maile, was beyond accomodating and a pleasure to communicate with. Any needs or questions we had she was on top of it! We've stayed in several houses in the NC mountains and this home/experience was by far our favorite. We will be back!

This house was perfect for our long weekend getaway. There were 3 couples in our group so having the bedrooms on seperate floors gave everyone their own space. The home was very clean upon arrival and it's fully stocked with anything you could ask for. The owner was great to deal with and responded very quickly with any questions we had. We loved the wood burning fireplace, so cozy for the colder January temps. The home is close to Blowing Rock and Boone. It was one of the best rental homes I have ever stayed in. The views were breathtaking and the house sits on a large lot. The beds were comfy and the towels were soft and plush. We definitley want to plan a trip back.

We took 4 adults and 4 kids for a long weekend and really enjoyed the property. The only downside for our group was that the 3 bedrooms were on 3 different floors - which was tricky with the kids. But it all worked out and a fun time was had by all. The house is lovely!

Relaxing being in the mountains, fireplaces indoors and outside and hiking trails. Drive up the mountain was tight roads and turns. Good GPS and fair weather needed.

The home looks just like the photos, it was cozy for our holiday vacation, and had all the amenities we needed. We were here during the big Arctic storm that came through over Christmas so we were snowed in for a couple days but it was actually nice timing and we only lost power for a couple hours. A couple things out of anyone's control happened because of the negative temps but the host was more than accommodating and in communication the entire time trying to handle the issues; before and after the storm. We had 4 adults and 2 kids staying in the house and a couple other family members in the area visited over the holiday so there was plenty of room. It was a desirable place to be stuck in to say the least. My favorite feature of the home were the huge windows looking our over the view and the fireplace that runs through the center. We highly recommend this home as it was very nice and one I'd love to own. Thank you for a great holiday experience, Maile!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family at this home! It was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The views are amazing and there is plenty of room for family to relax together and also have some privacy 😁 We absolutely loved it and would definitely come again! The owners are quick to respond to any questions we had and were very easy to work with. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful home that has had great attention to detail by the owners. The kitchen is well appointed. The furnishings are extremely nice and most comfortable. I loved the smell of the wood each time we entered the home. The outside has an abundance of options to take advantage of, including a fire pit, hot tub and nice sitting area to enjoy the lovely view. And the owners are exceptional to deal with. Lastly, close access to Blowing Rock. We can't wait to return again!
