About this bed and breakfast
Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park area lodging with a unique West Texas old town experience.
Ten Bits Ranch has some of the most beautiful views in the Big Bend region of Texas.
The rugged off grid Ten Bits Ranch site was chosen for its breathtaking views of the dark sky stars, red craggy rocks and the beautiful sunrise and sunset over the surrounding mountains.
Guests of Ten Bits Ranch may hike and explore over 550 private acres of Ten Bits Ranch land at their leisure. Ten Bits Ranch is your own personal National Park without all the rules and restrictions of hiking the public land.
Guests may have a complimentary self-serve continental breakfast or prepare your own meal 24/7 in the full guest kitchen and dining area in the shared Cantina space.
Ten Bits Ranch is just (20) minutes from the Big Bend National Park entrance and (20) minutes from the historic Terlingua Ghost Town. Ten Bits Ranch is (20) minutes from local activities like the Big Bend rafting companies, Big Bend Stables horseback riding and the local bars & restaurants like the famous La Kiva Restaurant & Bar, Longdraw Pizza, Starlight Theatre, DB’s Rustic Iron BBQ, Chili Pepper Cafe and High Sierra Bar & Grill.
Ten Bits Ranch is (35) minutes from the amazing Big Bend Ranch State Park and the beautiful Lajitas Golf Resort.
Ten Bits Ranch has everything that you need to be comfortable (WiFi, AC, gas & electric heat, satellite television). The entire property is off grid and powered by the one of the largest (57.6 kW) privately owned solar power systems in Texas.
Experience REAL West Texas off grid living in the Big Bend region with your own off grid oasis and 550-acre private park.
Hike and explore right outside your room without the rules and limitations of the public parks. Hike with your pet, bring your ATV or motorcycle, build a fire, visit our shooting range or just have a drink, smoke a cigar or read a book on the porch or by the firepit and look at the beautiful mountains on the hotel property. Let the hundreds of acres and nearly complete freedom create a unique Big Bend experience.
Ten Bits Ranch has some of the best views of the famous Big Bend stars. Since Ten Bits Ranch is completely off grid and located on 550 private acres, there are no neighbors and no ground lights to obscure the perfectly dark night sky.
The amazing solitude is extremely quiet and peaceful day or night. If you come to Ten Bits Ranch when the moon cycle is dark, after 20 minutes (for your eyes to adjust), the stars will appear to surround you like a blanket. Be sure to watch for shooting stars. There is a shooting star in view at Ten Bits Ranch almost every week. Ten Bits Ranch offers a truly private, unique, off grid, dark sky star gazing experience that few people have the opportunity to see in person. The craggy Chimney Rock Mountain blocks out a beautiful black jagged silhouette in the blanket of stars.
Well-behaved pets (and well-behaved people) are welcome at Ten Bits Ranch. Hike and explore at your leisure with both your 2 and 4 legged friends.
Thank you for considering Ten Bits Ranch for your Big Bend Adventure. Wherever you choose to stay, the Big Bend area is a wild, unique and a truly beautiful place that is well worth the trip.

Great view, great location, relaxed and comfortable. The only issue that we had was the shower drain didn’t work as well as it should. They attempted to fix it right away. I would definitely stay here again.

First time in the Big Bend area was an experience. We enjoyed staying at the ranch, it was very unique and special. We had everything we needed, would recommend others to stay there. Comfortable beds, hot showers, big skies and lots of stars were just a few of the things one can enjoy while at the ranch. We hiked around the property with our dog, and spent some time at the shooting range. Thank you Sis for letting us stay.

Love view, quiet and the night sky was amazing. Everything we needed was available. This is our second stay and will return.

The pictures of this place don’t do it justice.
This facility and room were incredibly clean, updated, and had everything you could need. Incredible value for the quality and views!

The Ten Bits Ranch was a perfect spot for our family. It had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable. It was clean, quiet and remote. The shared kitchen and breakfast was a great perk.

Very nice private property. Beautiful night skies. They have really done a nice job to make this off the grid property. Cantina is very convenient and well stocked for continental breakfast. Had a problem with the heat pump the first night and Cowboy came over and corrected the problem. Very responsive. Really enjoyed our stay there. Would stay there again if come back to Terlingua

We had a wonderful stay at the ranch! Such a unique experience. A well kept ranch. Highly recommend!

My Husband and I wanted a quiet place to use as a basecamp between Big Bend and Davis Mountains. The rooms and shared kitchen facilities were great!
I was able to do some dark sky photography as well as exploring the other parts of the ranch.

I 100% would stay at this this place again. We stayed in #7 . The view sad to die for both day and night! The shared cantina was fantastic. Though it was shared we never really saw anyone.

I wasn't sure how comfortable I would be off grid despite all of the comforts of the cabins. The owners did a great job of preparing me and providing instructions. I was really grateful that there was a land line phone in the cantina, since there was no cell service. Also took advantage of their dining recommendations. The room AC was cool, the shower was hot. Would definitely stay there again.

Great basecamp
Had a great time at the Ten Bits Ranch. Great views out the back porch, comfortable accommodations, nice to have the cantina for coffee/quick snacks, and enjoyed the fire pit one night. Good location to serve as a basecamp for exploring the area and park too. Highly recommend!

Big Bend is out in the middle of nowhere and people that plan to go there need to realize that. That being said, Ten Bits was a great place to stay and offered all amenities necessary for short stays. The rooms are clean with Wi-Fi, clean bathrooms and amazing views! My only complaint Is that the beds are a little firmer than I would have liked. Other than that, a great place to stay.

Ten Bits Ranch
This was the second time we've stayed here. We've really enjoyed it both times. Cowboy and Sis have done a great job with the ranch. Highly recommend it if you're planning to spend time in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ten Bits Ranch (we stayed in Room 7). From the rocking chairs on the front porch with a stunning western view, to the spacious and well appointed room (very comfortable bed!), large bathroom with rain head shower, convenient Keurig coffee and mini-frig we had everything we needed or wanted. The Cantina was a great plus- we had breakfast there each morning and enjoyed mingling with other guests. The location is so serene- well worth the 20 minute drive past Terlingua when coming from the park. We opted to make our own dinner at the ranch after jostling with the crowds in Terlingua our first evening. The sunsets and star gazing were stunning. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful area
You do have to travel down a gravel road but it’s so much better staying off the main highway a little bit than other places in Terlingua which are basically right on the highway. My husband and son even spent a day hiking around the property. The two king beds were great. Could have used a bit more storage/table top surface but otherwise very clean and very spacious. And the stars at night were fantastic. With the added plus of no highway noise. The separate cantina area that is shared with the other guests is very clean and has everything one needs to cook a meal. Would stay again!

Excellent stay at the Ten Bits Ranch!
Really excellent stay if you’re looking for a quieter experience near terlingua. It’s about 20 minutes north of the Terlingua ghost town area but we enjoyed the stay and the house was really clean and had everything you need. We also hiked around for a couple hours one day which was really nice!

Close to the Big Bend National Park and gorgeous view of the sunset. Roomy with two king beds. My only complaint was that the two mattresses were extra firm and I woke up with back pain.

The view was amazing. The room design of 2 king beds at 90 degrees made it great for privacy. Huge bathroom. The fire pit. Just a great property. Will book again our next time at Big Bend

One of best stays to date!
10/10. This stay went above and beyond my expectations. The ranch and our room were so nice. The Cantina provided snacks and breakfast before we left for our hikes and was the perfect place to cook up a well-deserved post-hike dinner. The room was amazing. All the amenities we needed and a wonderful fire pit to sit around at night to watch the shooting stars. Communication with management was seamless and they were flexible with my schedules in terms of check-in/check-out. On that note, I was working remotely part-time and the WiFi worked out for all of my calls and meetings. Can't wait for our next stay!

Could not have ask for a nicer stay. There is plenty of room in the unit. Easy internet access, television, small refrigerator, microwave, kerigue coffee pot, bottled water. Two king size beds, large shower easily accessible for handicapped, large or extra tall person. Outside there were 4 very nice rocking chairs on our porch, an outside fire pit. With 4 more comfortable chairs. The views from the porch were outstanding, night skies unbelievable. To top it off, the weather was perfect. Ten Bits Ranch is an outstanding off the grid get away.

Just the right mix of the desert & amenities
We spent a few nights enjoying this beautiful property. The wide open spaces & sunsets were amazing. The rooms had everything thing we needed & plenty of space. It was nice to have a full kitchen available along with breakfast options to make ourselves. The property is remotely managed & we had no trouble accessing it. We have already booked another stay for next year!

First and foremost, you have yo understand that you are going to an OFF-GRID location. This isn’t a holiday inn or Cesars Palace.
Everything about this place is amazing. It gives you a modern camping feel with a western style.
You get to see the stars at night and amazing sunrises and sunsets.
A/C works amazing and so does the WiFi. But if you go for a camping experience, you don’t really use either of those much.
The ONLY thing I would add to this place is signs telling you set your GPS while on wifi, because as soon as you leave the property you lose signal for 30-45 mins in either direction.

Me, wife and our 2 boys got away for a 4 night stay at 10 Bits Ranch. We had an awesome time and the boys really enjoyed being able to explore the property. The Ten Bit Gazette was roomy, clean, and had a fantastic view from our front porch! We are already talking about when are next trip will be to the ranch! Thanks for having us!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had cabin 7 and it was very clean. Ample supply of towels soaps etc. The view right outside your doorstep is breathtaking and we had our own campfire and chairs were provided. There’s also a trail right past the entrance of Ten Bits that’s awesome to drive down in your car. Would definitely recommend!

CHECK LUNAR CALENDAR, and go during new moon to see more stars. Awesome view of Hen Egg Mountain among other mountains and hills. Campfire every night, bring your own wood, it’s really expensive in town. Most things are more expensive in town, bring more than you need. All off grid system which is really cool. Wife got some really good drone shots of the place @kmcphotographytx. Cabin 7 is without doubt, the best cabin, followed by 8,5,and 6. The others looked cool with the exterior but these had the best view of the landscape. Cool range below in a valley so bring your pew pew, will bring mine next time. Don’t eat at High Sierra Bar and Grill in Terlingua. Expensive, microwaved food. Treat it as a bar with fries. Long Draw pizza was good. Go to Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, take water shoes to cross Rio Grande and climb up the mud bank to get to the trail. Trail is more like 3 mile round trip, if you want to get back out toward the water in the canyon, even though it’s posted as 1.6 miles round trip.
